Cons -
- For the price that we paid, there should have been aircons or heaters in the place. We had breakfast included, and when I asked for coffee and juice, the waitress gave me such a look as if it wasn't allowed. I would have paid if need be, but I got it and just felt her attitude was wrong. The kids went for horse riding, and the instructor leading them was beating his horse with the whip excessively. Almost to point of animal abuse.
- The road to access the resort is very bad and this is not mentioned upfront when booking. It is a very difficult drive to do if you have children. The chalets are quite dated, bathrooms not in the best condition. The rooms don't have any heating or cooling.
- The road to the resort is terrible and we are not told in detail about this. Reception said that there is a gravel road that a normal car can go on - this is not true. You must have a 4x4 as a normal car is guaranteed to get damaged on those horrible roads. I also got stuck on the wet grass at the unit after the rain came and had to pull some fancy manoevers to get out. The staff is not very helpful and seem to lack humanity. Be careful of bull timeshare cons - they come all nicely to you thinking cos you have a nice face they can con you, like most idiots in this world - not realizing that friendliness and kindness should not be mistaken for stupidity. Terms and conditions are not clarified properly neither is cancellation fees....beware

View, peace & tranquility
Dining area / kitchen was severely understaffed.Waited extremely long while for food (lunch & supper). Order was even incomplete.
Beautiful location with stunning views. We were lucky to have a self-catering chalet facing the water. Facilities were clean and comfortable with fantastic outdoor and indoor facilities. The restaurant food was good and catered for all needs and good facilities for children although the pool was a bit cold. The nature reserve is adequately equipped with fun water activities. There are wild horses, we saw wild baboons roaming when driving to down the entry road as well as buck.there are multiple bird specoes and definitely and anglers paradise on the lake.
It was not that we did not like it but the entry road is about 20km of dirt road so be careful, especially if driving a rental car. We did love the sign posts though, you will understand when you visit.
The view of the dam and the spa .
The gravel road was a terrible experience of 21km .The room I was allocated (w19) had cracks on the walls, and carpets in the room had stains that had a bad smell. It was evident that the room needed a deep clean or a revamp .I had asked to be moved to another room, and Sean was helpful . The second night it rain heavy, the roof started leaking, we had called reception to inform them, they came the next day in the afternoon to check on it.. I had booked 3 nights with breakfast included, the biggest mistake. The menu at the restaurant is very limited ,the only positive was the view of the dam and the spa treatment.
The tranquility and the serene views of the dam. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. I loved the spa treatments.
I have been coming to Qwantani for the past five years. Our unit WB 02 did not have a blind in the kitchen. This unit also needs to be fumigated and deep cleaned. The beds in the two smaller rooms were very uncomfortable. With that being said, we will still return as we love the peace and beauty of the sterkfontein dam.
Fabulous resort that ticked all the boxes to provide activities .space and relaxation for a large family group . Thank you to the staff who placed us in nearby chalets.
Some chairs could have been provided by the harbour gazebos - we had elderly in our group and luckily we had a couple of camp chairs with us.
The place is so clean, staff very friendly and they serve good food at their restaurant, veryy affordable!!
We only found out about the entrance fee when we arrived then. There was no prior communication about it.
Disappointing
The place needs some maintenance. The unit was not 100% clean and the main bedroom mattress was hollow. Their were guests that partied till after midnight with loud music and shouting.
The place was breathtaking ? and the staff was very friendly.
The carpet was my turn off it needs be cleaned. They need to invest in a backup for all the houses when there's loadshedding.
We had one of the revamped units, I believe, so gas was used for cooking, our preference. The unit was clean and tidy. People mentioned about the gravel road, but it isn't too serious, unless you haven't seen one before. It's just time consuming as you drive at 40km/h for 20km. Overall a good experience. (We were snowed in, so it made this trip a first and very special)
The restaurant staff need to speed up a bit. I understand that you're on holiday and need to relax, but if you sit in a restaurant and get to order a drink after 10 or 15 minutes, it's far too long. We also placed an order for meals, mine being a Beef Lasagna and after about twenty minutes - probably when the other meals were ready, the waitress told us that my meal is out of stock. Maybe let your restaurant staff know about the meals and drinks that aren't available on the day at the start of their shift?
Location quiet and serene. Great family experience.
The 20km gravel road does not work for cars, not only does it cause damage to one's vehicle it extends the trip by one hour. Secondly, could have been notified that entertained cancel or maintenance being carry out to certain parts of the resort.
We were all very impressed with everything at Qwantani, we will definitely be back again as soon as we can
Stunning view of the Dam, the restaurant and Pub were outstanding, and so much for the kids to do. The staff were all so attentive to this
Passable
There was no one who helped us to find our charlet we took almost 15-20 minutes to find charlets.Secondly when we go to the boats we don't know which road are we suppose to take to go to dam and one of us boat left her buy the time struggling to find the road and we did pay for her space for boat even she didn't go to boat
All the staff were super friendly, efficient and helpful. Thank you Mamoela (sp?) for your friendly and informative phone call prior to check in and on arrival. We watched the Springbok / Aus match at Harbour View. Food and drinks were great. The Staff were really good.
The only negative would be the 21km dirt road to get to Qwantani!
Clean rooms, beautiful setting with wonderful views, cozy chalets. Beds are super comfy.
None of the activities planned happen. Staff were unfriendly and poorly trained. At every sit down for a meal from the restaurant we have had some issue with what was brought to us vs what we orders, the waitress did care 2 hoots that meals where incorrect. On firstly night a unit was making excessive noise but and no intervention from management.
Reception staff and cleaning team were excellent . Never met resort manager but Johan and Quinton were really accommodating..tolerated our very large group ?
The gravel road was excruciating to our vehicles
Everything was really clean and comfy. The chalet was really spacious for a family. Kitchen was well equipped for making family meals. We also had breakfast at the restaurant which was delicious m the chef came out to make sure we were satisfied with our meals. The chalets are cleaned daily which is a great help when on vacation. They even cleaned the braai area outside! The fireplace is amazing during the colder nights and kept us warm all night while spending quality family time. We were greeted with animals near us and the most beautiful views!! We also played pool and enjoyed the bar area. Check-in and check out was smooth with friendly front desk. The whole experience was very relaxed and we left feeling rested and rejuvenated. We also did a boat trip around the dam for my dad's birthday which was the perfect ending to the weekend. We were so happy that we are planning a summer family vacation!
Road getting there can be bumpy but SO worth it!!
The staff at this property was truly exceptional. Prior to our arrival, they were incredibly responsive to all our queries, ensuring we had all the information we needed. Upon arrival, we were greeted with such warmth and hospitality, making us feel right at home. Our unit was immaculate, beautifully furnished, and equipped with all the amenities we could possibly need. The attention to detail and the level of service provided by the staff made our stay unforgettable. There is endless activities to do especially if you have kids. We highly recommend this property for anyone seeking a comfortable and welcoming experience.
Only downfall is the gravel road however it only for 30kms.
