Cons -
- We booked for two nights and the Malagas Hotel. They called us on Saturday to advise us that the ferry was out of service. The main reason that we booked at Malagas was to use the ferry to go to Witsand. We tried to cancel, however, the hotel did not accept it. They did say that Bookings.com will not accept it either. They assured us that the gravel road was in good condition. Therefore we decided to give it a try. However, after the first attempt we realized that we would have to travel this road 4 times, a diversion of +/- 150km to get to Witsand and back to the hotel. The Hotel Manager said Bookings.com will not take that into account and we had to pay in full, although we only stayed for one night. The manager mentioned that it is Bookings.com that handled the original booking and we need to resolve the matter of the non-refund of the cost we had to incur with you. We are regular users of Bookings.com and would appreciate if you would consider to accommodate us in some way.
- Nothing at all but just a shame that the ferry was not working whilst we were there which obviously isn't the hotel's fault.
- A bit pricey for the offering, however, it was December. There could be a bit more vibe in he bar.

The proximity to the water and the beach in front of the hotel
Everything is needing an update. In fairness to to staff I guess they were all tired after a long Christmas holiday season….
Beautiful location, convenient and spacious rooms upstairs, nice river views from the balcony, dinner and breakfast had a homemade rustic feel and were delicious. Kids loved trampoline and pool and beach by the river. Staff were friendly and helped load and unload luggage.
Location, Staff
Food below averagePricing to High for experienceBar prices to high for patrons paying a premium went other venues nearby and got value for money.
This is a lovely country hotel. It is old (as you would expect) but clean and comfortable. The staff are exceptional and Kyle was just so helpful attending to our every need. We just loved it. Our daughter and husband and kids were staying near by so we only had dinner on Xmas night which was a carvery which we really enjoyed.Beautiful location right on the river, perfect for a rest away from city life.
Nothing I can think of.
Everyone was super friendly and made me feel super at home! Good was amazing, homely! Jennine and Taryn looked after me like mother hens ❤️
The shower head ? that's all.
Meals were excellent. Staff very friendly.
Access to hotel. leisure activities.
Very friendly staff members and wonderful food.
The location is remote, so the gravel road was a challenge.
Place is just amazing!Phenomenal views. Room was lovely and finely hand curated for the décor. Very cozy bed, curtains and the washroom. Very clean and warmLovely and polite owner with warm hospitality
loved the dinners. Lady in charge of the kitchen is excellent and pleasant. Staff very friendly.
breakfast could have muffins croissants or scones instead of government brown or white bread. Filter coffee should be available for dinners and not only for breakfast. We should be told that it is actually 47 km on a very rough dirt road prior to booking.
A lovely countryside hotel along the banks of the Breede River. Delicious breakfast and dinner. Enjoyed being able to rent a padel boat to take out on the river.
The hotel feels a bit dated, but if you know to expect that, then it okay. The rooms are still very neat and clean.
Great location on the Breede River. Friendly staff and good food.
No daily housekeeping.
Setting beautiful. Hotel old but clean.
Shared a geyser so had a cold shower first night. Breakfast on both morning was long as our order was messed up both mornings. Waited about 30/45 minutes for our breakfast. Waitress apologized! Di’s offer is a free drink on second morning mistakes!
The location,& friendly staff.
The staff did not get some minor requests correct.
Very relaxing stay on the river near The Hoop nature reserve. Outdoor and indoor play area for kids. Lovely staff, promptly ready to help for any need. Generous meals which were very appreciated during this stop of our on the road trip.
Nothing. The location is quite remote but we knew and we loved it!
Great place to continue to the Hoop Nature Reserve or explore the area there. The rooms are really great, although the rest of the rooms are from the 90s, which does have a certain charm. Unfortunately the pool was not usable during our stay. Our recommendation is to skip dinner, which is honestly not really enjoyable. The breakfast, on the other hand, is completely ok. Generally recommended if you have your own food with you. The staff is super friendly and helpful.
Remote but very nice area; good that breakfast and dinner are included
food is OK ,sufficient but not excellent.
The personnel was very friendly. The food more or less between okay and disappointing. A roast meat was boiled meat other dishes quite nice
The interior was totally worn out and very outdated. Like a time travel far back into the the previous century. The rooms very dark and annoying was that only one of the lamps worked. It was dark age.
