Pros +
- The spa facilities were great as well as the staff friendliness. Love the grounds and the country feeling all over
- The spa facilities and staff were great. Breakfast was average
- Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mount Grace. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent, the venue was beautiful, and the spa treatments were both relaxing and of a high standard.
Cons -
- The dinner was terrible - I ordered the seafood platter and my prawns and calamari were undercooked. The mussels were overcooked with no sauce and was subsequently returned to the kitchen. There were cockroaches in our room:-(
- We specifically booked a room with a private pool, at a higher rate than the standard rooms. We really wanted to enjoy swimming during our stay. However, the pool water was not heated sufficiently, making it too cold to use. We also ordered room service and waited over an hour for our food. In addition, the spa pool was only mildly warm, which was still not comfortable enough for swimming at this time of year.
- The breakfast was not great as it did not have many options. The dinner buffet was not good and wasn’t fresh. The room was dated and not what we were expecting. The internet connection was not good and I needed to go to the main lodge multiple times to try to use it there. Room service didn’t bring us the order we wanted and I needed to call multiple times to get the staff to answer. The toilet stopped working part way through the late night. The value for the money paid was not even close.

100%my friend everything is standard, the staff are all friendly they apologise for any inconvenience if there is... I will recommend to anyone, I will go there again with my whole family....The breakfast is buffet to class??
there's no self catering at all and they use only the bar fridge no normal fridge
The spa facilities and massages were amazing, the rooms were comfy, the breakfast options were awesome. The view from our room was really great as well! The staff are all friendly and hospitable and we like that we could shuttle around the resort.
The showers could be cleaned a bit better, there was grime in between the tiles. There were no lamb chops available for dinner, we don't eat beef so the grill options were limited and we were a bit disappointed with this. When phoning for a shuttle to the spa the receptionist said it's close so we can walk, a bit more hospitality would be good as we were coming there to relax not to hike.
The newly renovated rooms, friendly , professional and helpful staff
The carpet in the rooms
Location is superb, staff are professional and friendly, dinner and breakfast was outstanding. Spa treatments were top notch.
Rooms were neat and tidy, understandably some of the rooms are under revamp, just small detail, make sure there are light bulbs in the bed side lamps and WiFi and pass- word are easily available, we did not have wifi? Linen perfectly clean and crisp.Choice of room and proximity to main dinning area and bar, deck, pool area can be misleading when booking .
We would never return.
The room was filthy. We went to a wedding and arrived back at the room at 10:30pm. On arrive there was a centipede running in the room (not great but not the hotels fault). It ran under the bed so we had to move the bed and side tables to find it. Under the beds was appalling! I cannot imagine it has been vacuumed in 6 months! Dead beetles, bottle caps, dirt, etc. The bath/shower was in such poor condition that we were not prepared to use it at all. I have photos of all of this. We were VERY disappointed and left at 8am.
the restaurant was amazing , the room was amazing . the staff was amazing.
the pool was not cleaned out of debris and the facilities around the pool like the gardens was a bit tatty, otherwise everything else was super
Everything was fine. Wonderful staff. Wonderful spar. Good massage. Good meals, breakfast and Dinner. Flexibility and quick thinking of staff to move us to another room upon arrival as the room was not ready.Rooms are neat.
1. The Bed was very tough and was not comfortable. Making it difficult to sleep peacefully. The body was painful after working up.2. The room was not prepared in time when we arrived.3. Rooms have Ants. ? clawing into our snack. The rooms need to be fumigated.
Room, Spa, Staff, Breakfast
- Dinner Buffet was horrendous - Main pool away from the spa was not appealing at all. Very disappointed that I had to pay for a spa day in order to access the other pools. - Shower & Bath in room needed maintenance. Shower leaked through the door seal (design flaw). Bath leaked unbelievably through the seals or joints.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was very good.
- The shower drain was very blocked- the only heated pool was covered and there were no pool towels available (we had to request the pool be uncovered and towels)- They are doing renovations and our room was right next to the renovations even though the hotel was dead quiet. - Gardener started with the leaf blower just after 7am. - Construction workers arrived and parked right outside our room before 8am. - TV stopped working and we had to ask for it to be fixed. - Kids Club was open but no child minder and the pool right by kids club was wide open with no gate for security.
SPA WAS AMAZINGTHE CART DRIVERS/CONCIERGE WERE SO EFFICIENT AND FRIENDLY
We think there is something special about Mount Grace as a location for a quick getaway from the urban jungle while not having to worry about driving too far. We have visited before in the summer and enjoy short walks around the complex and the dining areas.
Unfortunately, there was significant construction and refurbishment taking place. There were more contractors than guests. We understand that some/isolated maintenance is likely from time to time but when it is to this extent where it affects many areas around the grounds, then it is impossible for the guest to avoid. Contractors, grinders, hammering and two-stroke motors are not what you escape the city for when you expect 5-star tranquility. It should have been communicated clearly in advance. Or at least once the guest is trapped, some consideration should be offered (free spa treatment, discount, upgrade) so the polite (repeat) guest is not irritated/leveraged to complain. We can overlook the smaller things, even though they should be perfect, however this was gnawing throughout despite attempting to have a good experience. The perception was that the project/s were behind and suddenly more teams arrived to get momentum and it was our bad luck but you can't have that when you are paying. Rather close the resort, only accept conferences or balance strategically with value-adding/attention for guests.
Heated pool was nice, food great and waitresses were amazing, breakfast exceptional.
Currently renovating noise
The spa was amazing and the staff were well trained.
The food is definitely not five star. I asked for a speciality service which is offered for my husbands birthday which was an extra charge...the cheese platter and rose petals...It was not done, even though it was confirmed telephonically. I even called reception when I arrived the Saturday, and it was not looked into? The staff need to be trained better. The food was not of five star rating as the website proclaims.
The chefs were very friendly..not in a hurry to close the buffet since we even got there late..Very nice food my fiance was impressed and the birthday cake slice was was very nice n fresh.
Winter hiding all the beauty
Everything I hoped for and more. Great food, fantastic spa facilities and very friendly staff.
The beautiful suite - spacious and every need catered for - from the pool area and the entire suite- living room, bedroom and bathroom - great attention to detail. The welcome drink and charcuterie board - excellent
The dining room and restaurant area needs more attention. The dining room especially during breakfast feels like a school/work cafeteria not a dining room of a top class hotel. Food is very good though but not the right ambiance
