    • Luxury in the bush. Beautiful, unrivaled views. Outstanding customer service in every aspect of the stay - Ashleigh (manager), Pam (butler), Kyla (guide) and the entire Outpost team were all phenomenal. The meals were top notch. It’s a 5-star experience that doesn’t feel pretentious or snobby; you can truly relax and just enjoy your time there.
    • Everything at The Outpost is exceptional ! Its location, breathtaking views, high quality food and services, but most importantly the kindness and professionalism of all the staff and guides. It is a unique and magical experience ! Thank you so much to all the team!

    Cons -

    • Unfortunately, due to the property’s location in the far north of Kruger/Pafuri region - game sightings are limited. That being said, we were lucky enough to have an incredible leopard sighting on one of our drives. Despite this challenge, the guides go out of their way to make the experience memorable in other ways. The region is better suited to bird sightings, or just being aware that you’re there for the luxury and the overall experience, not necessarily for animal sightings.
    • The bathrooms were very basic. Given the location and the price the sink area and shower could all be improved in terms of the quality of fittings and the layout.
    • You have to be aware that if it is very hot - we had 40 degrees - the open concept of the rooms do not allow air conditioning. However there is always a breeze in the rooms.

All of it. The lodge is beautifully decorated, the view from the room is stunning, the staff if very nice and our guide was very knowledgeable.

Outstanding food and service and great ranger (Keagan)

    10PeterPosted on: 2-21-2024

It was the second time we stayed at the Outpost. For us it is one of the best Lodges in South Africa. We like the open concept of the rooms and the landscape surrounding the lodge. It is just so relaxing being in Kruger without the traffic jams of the south. Maybe there are places to see more big 5 animals but going to the fever tree forest is just unique as have the sundowner on the banks of Limpopo River with the Hippos. If you are looking for a special experience, go there.

You have to be aware that if it is very hot - we had 40 degrees - the open concept of the rooms do not allow air conditioning. However there is always a breeze in the rooms.

Everything was amazing, from the greeting the moment we stepped out of our vehicle until we drove away. Amazing attentive staff, great chefs, passionate and extremely knowledgeable guides (loved Keagan!) breathtakingly beautiful rooms and some of the most beautiful landscapes in Kruger (80% of Kruger’s biodiversity is located in this concession). This is 6 star service. Worth every penny. Book a room with a view.

Beautiful surroundings and very friendly staff

The room was very hot with no cooling system

Great and very calm place, excellent staff. Our guide (Christa) was amazing. She not only found the saddle billed storch for us, but explained everything very well and in a simple and entertaining way. We agree with her, nature is beautiful.

What an amazing experience! The rooms are beautiful - and in fact exceptional. The staff is friendly, attentive and professional. The food is good and the location really a bucket-list item for everyone who loves nature. The field guides are very knowledgeable. The staff also made my husband's birthday extra special with some really nice touches. Oh - and they even showed the rugby and treated all guests with Sprinbokkies and snacks - what a great South African touch! I would really recommend Outpost to anyone - it is a very special and memorable experience. Thank you very much! (The only reason for the 9 - it should actually be a 9.8 - is because of the lack of aircon).

The rooms open up with and has ceiling fans but certainly with temperatures in the high 30s and 40s, a portable aircon (at least in one area) is necessary.

    The Rooms … Everything

Staff under trained and game drives to far on tar roads. Game drive snacks not up to par and the High Tea was a disappointment The walk way is very slippery to the rooms.

Food! Excellent ! Especially that my wife’s allergies were considered in every dish and made for specifically when needed! Service! Neat and clean place! Fantastic guide, Bongani !!

The massages we had, were more like rubbing oil and not quite deep massages…

    10IrenePosted on: 5-23-2023

The setting is absolutely awesome! The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to know that you are looked after and having the best time. The rooms are beautiful, the bed really comfortable, the game drives with Ray very informative and scenic. All round we had a wonderful stay at Pel's Post (The Outpost)

    Nothing ☺

The setting and design of the lodge in an exceptional area of the Kruger where birds and diversity are of the order of the day.

We chose The Outpost Lodge for an impromptu 30th anniversary getaway. We have always wanted to visit the northernmost part of the Kruger to see how it compares to the rest of the park. The Outpost is situated on a hill overlooking the Luvuvhu River and the view from our room was breath-taking. The contemporary open plan rooms have retractable remote-controlled blinds, that offer uninterrupted views of the river when open. It was indeed a once-in-a-lifetime experience to sleep with no walls between you and the wilderness. On the second night, we were treated to elephants trumpeting just outside our room! The lodge is situated in a private concession. The staff mainly consists of members of the Makuleke tribe. We were treated like royalty and no effort was spared to make our stay a memorable one. It is evident that the staff are extremely well trained, but also that they love what they do. Our room was immaculately clean, the food was 5-star and wherever we went, we were greeted with friendly smiles. The fauna, flora and vistas in this part of the Kruger is by far the most impressive of the whole park. We were fortunate enough to visit both the Lanner Gorge and the Fever Forest on game drives. This is not the area of the Kruger you should go to if you want to see the big five, as you probably won’t, but that said, there is still a decent amount of wildlife to see. We saw elephant, zebra, nyala, impala, baboons, kudu and hippo.

    Not a single thing!

Beautiful spacious rooms with some of my favourite views of the most spectacular landscapes South Africa has to offer. So many beautiful places to visit on your game drives. Great people that look after your every need with a smile. Delicious food, from breakfast to dinner. 10/10

Where to start? The Outpost Lodge exceeded all expectations for my birthday weekend. The lodge is located in the most beautiful wilderness area of Maluleke Concession within the Kruger National Park. The rooms, one of the most unique and beautiful we have ever seen. Allowing guests to have a special nature experience with it’s canvas “walls” opening with a touch of a button. The service received by staff - impeccable! From start to finish we were treated with the utmost professionalism & care. Barbara & Charmaine were wonderful at check-in and ensured that each need was tended to throughout our stay.Winnie, Lionah, Pam, Nompie served all drinks & meals with a smile. Extra special attention was given to dietary requirements & preferences. The food - EXCEPTIONAL!I booked a massage with Eunice and was NOT dissapointed! Her cheerful personality & years of experience was clearly visible. We were so impressed by our guide & bird specialist, Samuel Japane’s knowlegde & passion for nature. His story was so inspiring & we were so happy to receive a printed book of his beautiful testimony.Warren, the head ranger, checked in frequently to see how our stay was going. Thank you for your kindness.Everyone made my birthday extra special, from signs with “happy birthday” and a gluten-free birthday cake to singing & something special on our bed. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!I wish I could thank more staff members by name - the chef, team in the kitchen, cleaning ladies & maintenance staff included. The Outpost Lodge is the perfect luxury getaway & we hope to visit again soon in the future.
