The Restaurant.Big bathroomFriendly staff
There is no plug to use the hair dryer.Bedside lamp was flickering. I couldn't use it.Noise from water dripping from on steel stairs at night due to dew.TV did not have a clear picture.
Firstly, it was a last minute booking but our room was excellent, beautiful linen, clean bathroom and cabinets. The scenery ,the ambiance.... The receptionist was very helpful. We were warned of the stench coming from the dam.im advance and they don't control over it. My husband and I had a beautiful stay and we are definitely going to come back.
The food orders at the restaurant took a bit longer and my order the chicken fillet was too dry.
Location by the dam was very picturesque and good for bird watching.Could park the car by the property.
Not much!Could have had a suitcase stand in the room.
Dinner and the general staff level
Breakfast. Pastries were very stale and the choice of continental breakfast options was not great. I did not avail myself of the hot breakfast, so it may be that they focused on that.
Blades has an authentic African feel without the usual cliches. It is only a short drive from Pretoria and near the Roodeplaat dam. The ambience is excellent, and the service is even better. The staff is super helpful and friendly. Our steak and fillet dinner was terrific and well-presented. Our stay at Blades was the highlight of our trip to South Africa.
The bathrooms did not smell fresh, probably due to it being a septic system, but the reception addressed our issue promptly and in a friendly manner.
This place was absolutely beautiful! A huge thank you to Innocent and Prince for the incredibly delicious and flavorful vegan meals. I highly recommend this venue for anyone looking for amazing vegan cuisine. I loved every moment here—such a wonderful place to stay and unwind!
1. No games room 2. Capets was smelling in the room. Sofa was old and smelling .3.Lastly, I didn’t appreciate that after we had checked in and settled, the cleaner entered our room while we were at the pool just to leave chocolates. If room service isn’t being done, it’s not appropriate to enter the room once guests have settled—unless it’s for a necessary check-in. It felt intrusive and a bit rude.
Sfiso provided excellent service and made us feel more welcome than the reception did. The lodge itself has a beautiful view, which was a highlight of our stay.
During my stay at the lodge, I noticed that some areas need attention, as certain things require fixing. Additionally, the service at reception did not meet the standard expected of a 4-star establishment, as I did not feel welcomed upon arrival. On Saturday night, we also experienced long wait times for food and drinks, ranging from 30 minutes to an hour, which added to the disappointment.
The food was very nice, and the bed was comfortable. The room was very clean and easy to access.
Please try and work more on the bedroom couch, I couldn't even sit on it. It was disgusting
The room was beautiful and they thought of the small details. Bath salts for the bath beside the fireplace, wood, matches ... it was honestly a wonderful stay. The menu selection was also really nice and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The property in general is beautiful and only a short drive out of town.
There was nothing I didn't like
We took the half board option and excellent value with dinner included...choice of starter, main and dessert from the menu. Room was perfect, great aircon and super comfy bed!
Not The Blades fault but glad we had a pool vs river view which is like a green dirty swamp!
The views are beautiful and the staff is friendly
The rooms need attention, the sink was broken. The breakfast is not great. The food was just ok.
The view,peace and the treatment
The place is absolutely beautiful and very neat
There's no room service, we couldn't call reception or restaurant to order food. The food was horrible. Was there for my birthday and we had dinner at the restaurant, everything was burnt, from the chicken to fries, the fries were literally brown. And the menu is so dull, I wish this was a self catering facility because woow we had to go get food the next day. The breakfast buffet was okay but not much options for a 4 star hotel, they only serve scrumble eggs! For a 4 star hotel my hopes were too high, as much as I love the ambiance, I would never go back there!
Good value for money. Decent 2 night stay in fairly comfortable rooms. We enjoyed the pool and even went for a mini walking trail on property to see the buck. Highlight of the stay was supper. Excellent quality food at reasonable price. Breakfast was not as spectacular but had all the basics. Staff is absolutely fantastic..Thando in particular was great!
Beautiful location, spacious rooms and delicious breakfast.
Receptionist was a little off
