About
Hôtel de la Côte d'Or is a former royal coaching inn. WiFi is available free of charge for all guests, and some rooms offer a view of the garden. Each room has a private bathroom, TV and hospitality tray. Breakfast is served as a buffet with local and wholemeal products (hot drinks, pastries, cold meats, cheese, fresh orange juice, etc.). The bar at the Relais de la Côte d'Or hotel doubles as a tea room in the afternoon and a wine and spirits bar in the evening, with platters to share with friends. In summer, the bar is open until midnight, and guests can attend sporting events and private concerts. Hôtel de la Côte d'Or is 50 mi from Dijon. Free private parking is available on site, subject to availability. Free transfers can be arranged from Semur-en-Auxois airfield. On request, we can also arrange paid transfers from Montbard and Venarey-les-Laumes train stations.

Pros +
- It is a beautiful facility on a wonderful site. The breakfast was excellent.
- When I arrived I was warmly greeted. I came and went a LOT and was always greeted at the front desk. Hotel is VERY central to all in Semur-en-Auxois including a charming patisserie shop and gourmet store seconds away.
- The room was spacious and had everything we needed. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly, and the breakfast was generous and offered a good variety.
Cons -
- It would be nice if there were some wine glasses and silverware to use in the common area
- I would have liked more hotel amenities....like conditioner, lotion, etc. But all else was fine.
- It can get quite noisy if you open the windows, due to the cobblestone street outside.

Location; breakfast
Room was spacious, but absence of shower was awkward. Also, no dimmed light in bathroom (part of bedroom) made it hard to not wake up partner in the night.
What a brilliant welcome. The staff were simply lovely. The hotel is right in the heart of the town, we arrived on a Sunday but there were still a few bars and restaurants open, which was great. There was secure parking for motorbikes in the barn, which was great. The rooms were stunning, really well done, clean, modern, etc. Breakfast was great too...and we had to try the local ginger cake..which was very nice. We would head back here in a heartbeat.
Nothing at all
Lovely hotel, fantastic and spacious rooms - we had the family room. Breakfast was great too and a nice touch with their own little bar serving local beer. The Cassis beer was very tasty.
Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely relais. Great breakfast. Beautiful setting.
Location
False advertising - no shower, no coffee machine or air conditioning because they took away the remote because it wasn’t during the months deemed hot enough.
Location, nice staff, great breakfast, large room
Bathtub but no real shower. A little hard for seniors
Perfect location, easy to find and close to the small centre. The family room was huge. All quite clean
Loved the cozy room, great warm lighting and the clean, updated bathroom.
The shower took close to 5 mins to heat up. Once it did, the shower was fantastic!
Nice style and as we were there for the Tour de France it was the perfect location
Late arrival driving / parking on the gravel car park
Lovely room, very comfortable beds, good parking and location. Good value.
The hotel is in a good location and the interior is very nice.
Before checking in, I received an email about checking in online to save time and I was asked to pay in advance for our dog, which was not included in the payment we did on booking. The amount was 9 EUR and this is what I authorized their online system for to take from my credit card, however after checking out the next day I discovered they charged the full amount of the booking, basically double charging as I had already paid everything except the dog fee much in advance through booking. Upon contacting the hotel, they checked with booking and I received the original payment back, unfortunately my travel credits that I paid with originally were returned and these will now expire soon, forcing me to use them sooner than I actually need to. I am dissatisfied that I had to go through all the trouble to raise the issue with the hotel, communicate with booking and now I am still at a financial disadvantage after staying at this hotel, due to my returned travel credits expiring soon.In terms of the room, we also requested a quiet room but the room that we got was relatively close to the street and we heard car noise until 11 pm and after 6 am. Upon getting the keys at the hotel in the afternoon, there was nobody at the reception, we used a machine in the lobby which worked fine to give us 2 keys except it didn't clearly show which room we were given. We had to wait in the lobby and ask a cleaning lady to help us out.
Charming, immaculate hotel right in the heart of medieval Samur-en-Auxois. There is a relaxing bar area. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. A good choice at breakfast, and excellent wifi reception. There were plenty of electrical sockets.
We had a very strange wardrobe with a door across the hanging area which could not be moved, making access difficult. I prefer to have a safe in the room, but I was assured that I needn't worry about security. We walked past a flower shop at 8am, before it was open, and all the pots had stood outside overnight. Clearly the owner was not worried about theft. It would seem that Semur is a safe place. A pot by my front door would risk being stolen in the UK!
Comfortable room. Brilliant location in the centre of a charming mediaeval town. Great for an overnight stay on route to/from the south.
It's a pity it doesn't have a restaurant, given the location in the heart of France's best region for food and wine. Still the staff helpfully guided us to a nearby street with a couple of excellent eateries.
Clean comfortable room in great location. Very friendly and incredibly helpful staff
The room was modern, clean and comfortable. The jacuzzi bath was a bonus after a long drive. Excellent service and communication.
Hotel is a quirky renovated post house with medieval origins. Lovely position in centre of beautiful rose limestone medieval town with good restaurants. Breakfast was comprehensive and generous. Very good value for good rooms in a great location
Comfortable room, great location in town, very friendly service, and automated checkin/out.
Parking, we were lucky to get 1 of the 3 places in front of the hotel.
