Pros +
- The hotel looks nice, but they don't tell you that you don't stay in the hotel, but in a run-down building away from the hotel. The breakfast, when you are allowed into the hotel, is nice.
- This is a pleasant country house hotel in a lovely wooded valley setting on the edge of town. The annex is somewhat lacking in charm but we acknowledge that this is reflected in the price when compared to rooms in the main hotel. We felt welcome on arrival and the staff were attentive throughout. The extensive garden is a real delight and we had a very good breakfast outside sitting under a mature walnut tree. The restaurant was pleasingly busy and the food was excellent. The chef seems to have opted for a short menu format presumably in order to sustain his high standards as against providing a wider choice for residents staying for several nights.
- Space, charm and friendly staff.
Cons -
- While booking you see pictures of the hotel, but you don't stay in the hotel. You stay in a run-down building overlooking a big car park. They building is badly maintained, the rooms are run-down, you need to shower in the bath tub, without a curtain or a stand for the shower head. Very different from what you see in the pictures. The staff was super unhelpful and unfriendly when we asked for a place to store our bike-packing bikes.
- It would have been nice to have a slightly wider range of menu choices for our second night but the trout dish is so delicious that my wife who chose it again rather than the other main course dish is happy to forgive.
- Staff only spoke French.Menu at restaurant only in French.Restaurant prices quite high for location and service given. Though quality of food was good.Dinner only possible between 7 and 8 pm!Staff did not make any effort to help out understanding the French menu. I had to google translations.Bar was open but not staffed. Long waiting time and I had to run after staff to get their attention. Room was very minimalistic and small.
