Cons -
- Prices a bit high for bar food. Staff at breakfast and dinner were not as attentive or as helpful as you would expect at such a place. We came for a place to have dinner and spa. Dinner was closed 2 of 3 nights and spa closed entire time we were there which was a big disappointment for my birthday stay.
- Our bedroom was very small and had no surface space - we could barely unpack
- Our room was quite small for the priceMain lounge was quite busy, and there weren't many common areas to go

Shocking position by management
We stayed at this hotel the night of Sept 23rd and had to cut short our stay the morning of the 24th because of a medical emergency with the family dog. The behaviour of the management the hotel was so incomprehensible that Booking.com tried to intercede on our behalf, as shocked as we were. As soon as the dog became ill we telephoned out veterinarian in Saumur who said to get to VetRef in Angers Beaucouzé ASAP, a fully equipped emergency Veterinarian Hospital. It is 207 kilometres from the Le Nessay. The hotel knew first thing in the morning we were rushing to leave and gathering our things. The person at the desk told us they would credit the missed night as I was running back and forth. Once heading out the door, they said NO because we booked on Booking.com. We needed to focus on the dog. Once our pug was being treated and stabilised I turned back to this. The dismantling of the truth by hotel management is shocking. I contacted Booking.com who said of course the room could be credited back once okayed by LeNessay. Initially, the hotel refused the Booking.com contact but Booking.com persisted. They were also surprised by the refusal given the circumstances. Le Nessay. then claimed we had left mid day depriving them of the room. Again, trying to blame someone. That was impossible. The Animal Hospital has a record that the dog was checked in as of 13:50 and was already being given ER treatment. That was a minimum 2.5 hour drive from the hotel! There was no way we could have left he hotel other than the morning. I have a second home in France and appalled by management position which is so inconsistent with my lifetime of experience here. Yes, the wonderful French veterinarians were quick and effective. Our dog is now recovering post surgery. No, I would not stay at a hotel with the type of response to an emergency represented by management at Le Nessay. Thank you Booking.com for your efforts lost on these people who thus reacted at a very difficult time.
this is a beautiful hotel nestled away on a small peninsula surrounded by sea on three sides. the quality of the accommodation and service is exceptional - truly a high standard, but avoids the stuffiness of traditional high end hotels. the staff are so nice, friendly and accommodating. we had a fantastic stay and will be back for sure.
if we could find some points to improve (which is difficult) - the food menu is perhaps a little limited for Sunday and Monday - some salad or vegetables would be nice, we didn’t eat any for two days. The provision for kids is also limited, we are lucky and our toddlers liked truffle toasties but in general something simple to offer children to eat is always welcome when travelling as a family.
The location was spectacular, next to the beach. We enjoyed a memorable dinner in the restaurant with excellent service.
We loved the location, the hotel, the restaurant & staff
The only thing that wasn’t perfect was the shower.
The location is good and the chateau imposing. The restaurant was better than the hotel, but not great.
Our room bore no resemblance to anything shown on their website or on Booking. It was in a new annexe overlooking a public beach where teenagers partied until 3am. The noise nuisance was appalling. Our room wasn't serviced on one of the three days we spent there but no deduction was made from the considerable bill. The room was cramped and sparsely furnished with hardly any storage space. I had to leave things in a corner in the floor. There is no parking so you are charged 32 euros for the staff to drive your car off to an unknown destination.'Tapas' in the bar was so bad as to be funny: a tin of sprats and two pots of shop bought pate. They didn't even undo the pots and the sprats were served in the tin!At £450 per night this wasn't just bad value, it was outrageous overcharging. Avoid.
Building outside and interior was very comfortable. Staff excellent
Valet parking was not justified. We could have parked our car in car parking area behind hotel and there was no need to charge 12€ for valet parking. Felt cheated. Bedroom very small. Shower difficult to use as water went behind bath. Inside hotel very comfortable. No where to lounge outside hotel and just relax in the sun except terrace by bar. But this was a bar area. Restaurant closed on Sunday evening….. why? Hotel was very expensive and this price was far too much.
This place is incredibly charming. The way they renovated the 19th century castle and the way they decorated it on the inside is extremely well done. We loved our stay here! The staff was amazing and very helpfull in all the senses. The location on the small peninsula, surrounded by water is amazing, with beautiful sunsets in the evening. The room was not too big, but very wel equiped and nicely decorated. The village is a charm as well. We surely come back :)
Breakfast was ok, but could be a bit more special for such a place. The choices were in general a bit basic.
The location first and foremost is perfect ! Beautiful château building overlooking two beaches .
Fantastic location, very attentive staff at reception that could not do more to help with your stay. The hotel has been renovated to a very high standard and as the saying goes you get what you pay for.
The setting the chateau and everything else was so impressive
Car park could do with a re vamp
