    Pros +

    • Good restaurant, nice pool, wonderful room, excellent air conditioning, easy parking
    • Nicely renovated chateau. Beautiful room.
    • Beautiful setting; the goats, sheep and donkeys were a real bonus, the garden was lovely to sit in and dinner was reasonably priced and tasty.

    Cons -

    • This is a big chateau without elevator but the staff will help you get your luggage up and down
    • Don’t come with luggage! We got a room on the 2nd floor with no help to carry up the suitcase. Also, I lost a phone there and contacted the reception as the FindMyPhone app showed the location. I got the response that it was not in my room. I sent the location screenshot as requested and have NOT heard - it has been 10 days now.
    • It felt a little corporate as opposed to a more "old school" Chateau, and we expected a bath in our room and did not have one, and there were wet patches on the carpet in our room.

Incredibly beautiful castle, church, territory. View of the lake, goats, donkeys, sheep...a fairy tale! Fresh rooms, very clean, comfortable big bed. Delicious exquisite food at breakfast and dinner in the restaurant.

I would like more involvement from the staff, otherwise there was a feeling of being completely left to our own devices, not in the best sense. If we came and looked for the staff, they were nice and tried to help, but you really had to look and ask. It is also strange that there is no connection with the staff from the rooms, and in order to report or find out something you have to go to another reception building in the cold.

The location was fabulous- lots of fresh air and green. The bed and sofa were comfortable. The room clean and crisp. Sweet gift left for our son. Very attentive regarding dining and coeliac disease. Loved the pony and her animal friends. Staff friendly but understaffed.

We had booked a room with a bath and got a shower only. (Though they kindly brought us a baby bath). This relates to our room only (11)- if you use the rainfall shower the water pools over the edge as it doesn't drain properly. The toilet flush sprays water leaving everything wet. One towel was stained though it was hopefully clean. No WiFi connection in our room, no phone either- you were expected to call for room service etc. The aircon system was very loud and refused to turn off. Would be useful to have a 'do not disturb sign'. There is gravel everywhere so bags have to be carried and not suitable for prams. Would be great to have a kettle and a cup/mug for the room. It would be nice to have some lighter options for lunch too as the lunch and dinner menus were the same. Sometimes something simple can be just as elegant. Breakfast is limited for coeliacs. Never managed to have a hot cup of tea. All minor things.

We had a great time in this chateau with our dog. The place is just amazing: very quiet area, the room was super comfortable and clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful (helped us carry our luggage upstairs and find two glasses of wine at midnight ?). The place is also very dog-friendly (dogs are allowed in the restaurant and a welcome kit for the dog was left in the room).Thank you so much! We'll definetly come back!

    Perfectly situated

They have only told us at the arrival day, that our 3 months in advance booked room was not available. The compensation room was unfortunately not equivalent. Bitter taste in a otherwise pleasant hotel

    9MariePosted on: 7-13-2024

Loved the location and views. The hotel is undergoing renovations and will be really good when completed.

Breakfast on the first morning was good but poor on the second morning. Internet was poor.

    Superbe setting

Limited choice in the restaurant. We booked a table for dinner and we should have been told that on Monday there is only avery limited lunch menu available.

Beautiful chateau. Comfortable elegant room. Nice bathroom.

The place itself is beautiful, very charming and romantic views.

Some of the facilities/room need updating, the staff especially the restaurant ones aren’t up to the mark for a relais château (we waited an hour to get the first course and the so-called cheese plate was underwhelming), the breakfast was also disappointing.

Clean, beautiful surroundings, plenty of friendly staff. Very special and excel food.

Great old chateau beautifully renovated lovely location

Noisy air con at night otherwise perfect

We had a great dinner. Best truffle risotto - amazing

Breakfast was a very limited and expensive at 25 Euro you got coffee and pastry, extra 10 Euro would get you eggs. Not a pleasant way to start the morning.

    7AlexandraPosted on: 8-15-2023

Gorgeous property, fabulously renovated, lovely rooms and helpful staff

    Understaffed

    4JamesPosted on: 8-8-2023

The grounds were lovely and well kept - the interiors were in part beautiful.

Poor service in general along side absurdly high prices - the issue here is that the property sells itself on its location and of course the food which as far as breakfast was concerned was a shambles. It will cost you EUR25 per person for a simple buffet of bread, coffee and and pastries - alongside fruit which is well past its sell by date. Should you wish to upgrade to EUR35 this gets you an egg or two alongside a fruit salad and cheese. If this is not quite enough - perhaps an additional EUR15 for an undercooked omelet with Kraft cheese? You get the picture - but the problem is that there are no other options available should you not wish to spend EUR100 for a mediocre breakfast unless you wish to travel 20 mins to a local bakery. In short I feel I dodged an expensive bullet by cancelling the dinner reservation.Much improvement and a sanity check required.

The breakfast was adequate - but once some of the food had been taken by others it was not relaxed.

There was nobody at reception when we arrived. Eventually a young man arrived after we had gone looking for him. There were 52 steps up to our room and no elevator. There was no bartender. I had booked the Restaurant Gastronomique but it was closed that night - no reason given. The food offered was not imaginative and the “frites “ were inedible. I sent them back. The service in the restaurant was not impressive.

It is the chateau, so it is a massive building and they try to keep the spirit of it.The staff is welcoming and professional. The room size was great and it had all the facilities available.Location is quiet and close to the river.Dinner service was exceptional, and the food was great.WiFi was ok.

Absolutely creepy was the fact that they made a photo of me walking around the property, sending it to me and saying something along the lines of "great memories". I do not remember giving permission to do that.I didn't get breakfast at their restaurant, because I find 25 euro for a drink and pastries a bit too much. There's another option for 45 euro that includes a bit more variety. But there's also a bakery 3 minutes drive away which sells award-winning croissants for much less than that. Otherwise the hotel is in the middle of nowhere, so be prepared to pay extra for food.I woke up at 5 am to the sound of a baby crying. Same baby woke me up at 8. Not sure where the baby was, but the building is not sufficiently sound-proof.

    8AnaPosted on: 8-3-2023

    The chateaux, decor and grounds.

The so called barman was too arrogant and the breakfast was massively over priced.

    9barryPosted on: 8-3-2023

We have been twice before.wonderful setting. Charming staff. Food was excellent despite only having the standard menu as the gourmet menu's were not available on the two days we were resident. It had two tesla charging points.

Leaving. Also we have come all three timed while visiting opera de bauge in Bauge which is further than we like to drive back from late at night.
