    Pros +

    • Rooms are pretty as pictured. Breakfast was good.
    • The hotel and our room was perfect in every way. The welcome could have been a little warmer. Beautiful large room and bathroom with lovely country views.
    • Room outstanding, pool and environment great. When I arrived I was ignored completely by the lady in Reception - she was clearly very busy but no eye contact was made - I found this extremely disappointing. However two other people made up for this - the gentleman who showed me to our rooms, and the owner who was extremely kind and helped me retrieve our passports, thank you so much.

    Cons -

    • This is a nice restaurant with a few rooms attached, not a hotel. Staff truly appalling - customer service was non-existent - despite the team not completing our restaurant reservation as requested, we were refused anything to eat when arriving at 6.30pm with a toddler, and advised they could call a restaurant 50km away. No one provided alternatives or apology. Hotel rooms are nice, bathrooms are pokey. Facilities like the pool, spa, etc are run down.
    • The dinner! We left eventually after 3 courses as we wee falling asleep. We sat down at 7.30 and by 10 pm had only had 3 out of the 5 courses. Excruciatingly Slow. The Maitre d’ and waitress could not have been less apologetic when we left the restaurant. They charged us for an extra Aperol -21 Euros - and a bottle of water 9 Euros which they said was free. Check your bill.
    • The frosty reception originally (see my other comment), and the length of the dining which despite being OUTSTANDING in terms of food quality, service in general, and environs, was too long for my children at 3.5 hours.

It's a beautiful house in a beautiful village. The setting is lovely. There are two pools, and the bigger of the two is really pretty, sitting opposite the restaurant to the side of the grounds. The Michelin star restaurant is exceptional, and they have a kids option which was great for our son. We had a room at the top in the eaves which was generously sized given that I think it was one of their smallest rooms. Our son had his own full-size single bed and there was lots of space for the three of us. It's elegantly decorated and well appointed. The staff were super friendly and extremely accommodating.

We weren't told that the restaurant did a snack menu until the last minute, and although they very kindly accommodated us after 6pm (when the snack menu is due to finish), we were seated by ourselves in front of the restaurant which made us suspect we were being hidden from restaurant diners (rather than on the terrace at the back by the pool, which is overlooked by the dining room). We'd had a meal in the restaurant the night before, so options are a bit limited if you don't want fine dining every night. Especially given there aren't many options within walking distance, as the village is very quiet. That said, the snack menu was lovely and well executed.

The most beautiful setting - the entire scene is very pretty. The old houses, the pond, serene environment !The staff were extremely friendly and supportive !!!! We didn't want a full breakfast, so they went out of their way to arrange a coffee and croissant instead. Very nice !

We had to climb up many stairs to get to our room. We are 70 years old, and had two big suitcases - we arrived late at night and checked ourselves in, so there was nobody to help us with that.

The very warm welcome set the scene for our stay at Chateau de Courban. The hotel and grounds were exceptionally beautiful. We were delighted with our room. The dinner was a true gourmet experience and it was great to meet the chef too.

Superb dinner with very friendly, helpful staff. Excellent breakfast too.

Very tiny window in bedroom so very dark.

This is an amazing property and our room was brilliant, with a realistic fire and skylight to watch the stars. The food in the restaurant was outstanding and breakfast was also great. Ideally situated for a stopover between the UK and skiing in the Alps, in beautiful countryside. Unfortunately we did not have time to use the spa, but nice to have the Nuxe toiletries.

We had a dinner reservation for 8pm but were told we had to move it to 9pm as the restaurant was very busy. This was not ideal for us as we had got up early for a long drive and didn't finish eating until 11.30pm. However, the food was delicious

    Lovely grounds

Tripped on astroturf, restaurant unbearably hot

Our stay at Château de Courban was absolutely wonderful! The location is stunning, surrounded by beautiful vineyards and serene landscapes. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, making us feel right at home. The room was spacious, elegant, and well-maintained, with view over outdoor swimming pool. The breakfast at Château de Courban was fantastic! A perfect blend of quality and variety, with fresh pastries, delicious local cheeses, and an excellent selection of fruits and jams. We enjoyed very much on site made delicious apple cake. The setting was charming and peaceful, making it a delightful way to start the day. A truly memorable experience!

One of the two on site electric car chargers was faulty. The other one was already occupied. Staff tried to reset it but no luck. So if you travel by electric car make sure you have plenty of juice left (especially in a cold weather) as there are no car chargers available in a close proximity to the Château.

Everything was nice! Dinner was delicious. The only point of criticism is that the interior of the restaurant is outdated. Everyone was having their coats on during breakfast. It was too cold. Also during dinner it took at least 10 to 15 minutes before we were getting a drink while there were at least 6/7 waiters walking around. None of them came to our table….

A gorgeous, beautiful property renovated exceptionally. The grounds are stunning.

A pro and a con, it’s in the middle of nowhere - which is beautiful, but there isn’t much else around if you want to do anything else.

    9EmmaPosted on: 9-29-2024

Helpful and friendly staff, comfortable bed and pillows, quiet and dark for sleeping and a nice temperature. The evening meal was excellent, the waiting staff knowledgeable re the menu and suggested suitable wines to accompany our choice. Our dog was allowed in the restaurant with us - we were thoughtfully placed in a quiet corner so the dog wasn’t disturbed, and we wouldn’t disturb anyone else. Thoughtful touches included dog bowls in our room and umbrellas for us to borrow (it was torrential rain when we arrived).

It was a little dark in our room (ambient lighting) and the shower went everywhere in the wet room - but these are such minor points
