    Pros +

    • The hosts cared for us like we were guests in their home, yet it is not a home it’s a lovely hotel in the heart of old town. Our room was lovely with custom furniture and an updated bathroom. The candlelight procession to the basilica walked right past the hotel and was so special. Due to train delays we arrived very late and the restaurant was already closed but the host called other restaurants to find one for us that was open and the hostess even walked outside to lead us there! The location is just minutes walk from the Basilica and all the shops and restaurants. Breakfast in the morning was very nice as well. The hotel has been in the family for 6 generations and it is clear they were raised to be good hosts! Their daughters were there helping mom and dad a bit too and I can tell the hotel will continue to be in good hands when their time comes! I would absolutely recommend this hotel!
    • All the stuff are extra kind. Bed is very comfortable, the wellness is super, after skiing it was a great pleasure in the evening. Highly recommended.
    • Great breakfast, both mornings. The second morning was a Monday and the restaurant was closed, but the owner made breakfast for us and another group in a side room. The owners went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. When we missed a bus to Mitterbach one morning he drove us there in his own car. Just fantastic service.

    Cons -

    • We had a slight error with billing, but the kind hosts corrected it very quickly!
    • Basically everything else, except what was mentioned above. Location - very far from train station, so public transport is not a good option. First we got an uncleaned room after previous guest with towels on the floor and trash, but staff was supportive and gave another one immediately. Nevertheless, felt a bit strange and unprofessional since we arrived around 20:00 and normal check-ins are around 14-15, so there should have been enough time to prepare it. Hotel is old and historic, I understand that and there is of course a charm on old family hotels, but this charm does not work if hotel is not maintained and updated to some standards. All furniture is very old and overused. It is not antique, it's just old, used and ugly. The bed was very short for taller people above 180cm, we had to sleep on diagonal to fit in. Mattresses and pillows are ancient and extremely uncomfortable, back pain every morning. But the worst impression was a bathroom. We had a toilet and a shower in a bathroom. Toilet itself was ok, except that it was at least 20-30 years old, since such mechanisms I did not see for ages. Shower was the biggest disappointment. It was very small, a bigger person had to be strangled by glass doors, which did not close properly, and 50-60 year old tiles on the walls full of mushrooms and stains. I do not know what was their original color but walls in the shower became brown and black from mushrooms long time ago. Since this was a half work trip, we could not choose a hotel and had to stay here, but if we knew how it looks inside, we would for sure move out anywhere else. The hotel cannot correspond to any star category, and with the price much over 100euro per night was a waste of money.
    • The bathroom was not clean at all. The shower was broken.

The location is perfect. It is right in the center close to everything. The lady at the breakfast was super friendly, super helpful and super kind, thank you. The rest of the staff was friendly and kind too. The rooms are rustic, simple but cosy and warm. A fridge could have been helpful. Overall, a money well spent.

The staff was professional and friendly. It's a family hotel, so the staff was willing to help. The room was not dirty. Considering the location to Mariazell referring to the city center, I would say it was good, very close to the main square, main church and city sights. Breakfast was actually good, variety was ok, restaurant and bar quality was good.
