Hotel Alte Vogtei

The hotel and sorrounding town are beautiful, like a living museum. I had a spacious room with a reasonably comfortable bed. The bathroom was also spacious and functional, and there was a lovely balcony. The staff were generally very friendly and helpful.

That church bell... Next to the hotel, and church goes crazy at 6h00; on the third night I didn't bother trying to ignore it anymore and counted it striking 100+ times! Also, the breakfast was a bit limited, and though friendly, some of the staff had a very limited English.

Beautiful, charming, spacious and comfortable. Within the old city walls and all of the staff were ever so professional, helpful, and kind. Very good breakfast! Very serene place - would certainly book again.

You have to manage the noise from church bells but it is the only drawback and no mark against the accommodation.

Excellent hidden gem of a hotel in an historic building. The service is great, the rooms tastefully restored, and the restaurant is exceptionally good. The entire hotel is wheelchair accessible.

It was very quiet and clean and located in the older part of the village which was beautiful.

A small fan to circulate air would have made the room perfect.

30 minutes drive from Nuremberg, and you are in tiny medieval town of Wolframs-Eschenbach. It looks like it was built for knights movie or medieval festival. it is as small as some 300meters in diameter, inclosed in city wall with guarding towers. In a very center you find Alte Vogtei hotel, in classical Franconian timber-framed house. But don't be mistaken, the hotel's inside is very modern and very well designed, even elevator is there. Rooms are comfortable and very clean, with spacious bathroom with shower. Bed is large, mattress is on the hard side, different pillows to chose from, also the quietness of town ensures great sleep. Hotel's staff is very helpful and attentive. Breakfast is really good, quality choice of different coffee from machine, juices, freshly baked breads, bacon, sausages, boiled and scrambled eggs, different cheese and hams, and many more. Nice wellness in basement, with two saunas, one of them is relly good, infrared room and water massage bed, all icluded in stay price. But true gem of Alte Vogtei is it's restaurant, which honestly deserves Michelin star or two. Local, European and even Oriental cuisine is exceptional. Good choice of Bavarian beers. Note, the kitchen takes orders until 8:30pm, so be in time. Free parking on site or nearby. Overall pleasant and relaxing stay.

Beautiful modern interior design and great spa in a building from the 16th century in a medieval, walled city.

Church bells were ringing as of 6 AM heavily.

rooms are a bit warm and we got 2 single beds even though we asked for 1 double.

the sauna! breakfast was decent but boring, the same each day.most of the staff was greatly friendly and helpful, considering that I don't speak German and they have few English-speaking visitors.

so often there's one grouchy staff person who spoils the taste -- but overall, there was nothing really that I didn't like.

Everything was perfect - beautiful hotel, wonderful restaurant. There were even some nice saunas for relaxation after a long trip.
