Pros +
- Clean efficient not busy.
- The breakfast was poor. Many packaged, single serve options. Nothing fresh.
- The room was spacious with good quality curtains and windows opening to the outside. High quality linen
Cons -
- No dinner.Restaurant was closed because the chef was ill. We had to go and eat out.
- Despite being one of only three guests at the amply sized hotel (with at least 40 rooms), the staff determined to put me next to a room they were scheduled to do some renovations on the next day. I awoke around 7:30 after a terrible night of sleep (the mattresses must be 40 years old) to a hand-held drill making some sort of hole in the wall at my head. The clatter was terrifying. Thank goodness I’m never likely to need to be in the area for work again. If I had to be, I’d stay somewhere else. Also, the staff made me feel like an outsider even though I attempted my broken German and they possessed fluid English. Avoid if you can.
- There was no ability to adjust the heating temperature and the toilet seat was partially broken

Sauna was good.
Place was dead, very few guests. Bar and restaurant closed due to insufficient staff or sickness of staff. On request we could drink a bottled beer, no draft beer connected. Breakfast mediocre and again no staff. Rooms were sufficient but WIFI slow and intermitted. Maybe years ago this was a nice bustling place but its a bit outdated and its never nice to stay in a very large empty building.
Nice location close to the river. Excellent for conferences. Very polite staff.
Passable
No AC and it was very hot. Refrigerator didn't really cool and the bed was a little broken and sinking.
Pleasant
Terrace inexplicably closed at breakfast time.Style of hotel a long way from a luxury, old-fashioned castle.Maybe because of lack of guests, but atmosphere lifeless, breakfast environment and presentation depressing.Overall disappointing, yet still quite expensive.
Beautifully located in an large garden. The hotel building is a wonderful architectural eye catcher. The rooms are huge
