Founded more than 1,000 years ago, St. Georgen is the oldest monastery in Carinthia. It enjoys a unique location amid 3-hectare grounds at Lake Längsee. The property is beautiful. the service was very helpful and friendly! I loved reading all about the history of the location. I was pleasantly surprised to have a wonderful view of the lake from my cozy room.
The location was nice. I didn’t mind staying here, but it is over priced for what you get. It needs to be rated as a 3 not 4 star. It was clean and generally staff were friendly.
This is definitely not a 4 Star facility. I have stayed at 4 Star hotels in Austria and the Stift does not even come close. There were no extras like shower cap, slippers, bathrobe etc. These are usually provided at a 4 star facility. The shower/bath is average with warm not hot water. I paid for a lake view, but the room was not accessible by an elevator. I did however receive an alternate room that was accessible by an elevator.
The hotel was clean and beautiful, but location in middle of nowhere, not justified for the money spent. No playgrounds for kids. There's lake to see.
The buffet in the evening was empty, we had to constantly ask for more food. Same for breakfast.
