About

Set in a patrician villa dating back to 1700, the hotel has undergone various renovations in the last decade which brought back to life its original beauty. At the hotel you can immerse yourself and relax in a green park of plantains and chestnuts trees. The main building offers 20 rooms and suites, connected by elegant halls. Where there was once an orchard, you can now find the outdoor swimming pool and the Sina Wellness Club, with sauna, hot tub, steam bath, massages and fitness room.

    Pros +

    • Beautiful historical villa surrounded by a park, with nice swimming pool. Delicious breakfast with many sweet and savory options, ham, cheese, vegetables, fruit, and also gluten free. Staff is amazing, welcoming and willing to fulfill all the requests. Great room, with comfortable bed and a view at the villa and the garden. Free parking available. It was our second stay here after couple of years, and perfect again.
    • Beautifully restored historic property! We loved this charming hotel. We had a large suite for two nights, then added another night because we enjoyed it so much. The breakfast was delicious and the staff exceptional. The pool was refreshing and we enjoyed the service there. The setting of the dinner was gorgeous - we sat outside. While the location was not ideal for cycling from, we had a car and could easily get to our cycling routes by driving.
    • Convenient to autostrada,. Free parking. Lovely grounds.

    Cons -

    • First room was not, what we expected according to the pictures, but it was solved promptly - we were offered several options of available rooms.
    • We feel like the dinner on site did not match the standards of the rest of the hotel.
    • Not user friendly. Stairs, confusing layout, rough walking surfaces making rolling luggage very difficult. Room refrigerator did not work. Tiny television screen. Restaurant maybe a 6 out of 10. Soupy risotto, inedible hard bread, very limited menu, allowed a restaurant guest to use a loud speaker phone during my entire meal.

The bed is nice & bigThe pool looks good

The bathtab/ shower is too small and is wasting water on the floor.I could be nice if you convert it to just make it a big shower

Beautiful grounds, nice pool, spacious room.

The air conditioner was extremely noisy (making a loud rattling sound) where it would be impossible to sleep. We called for assistance and they came to our room and said we had to keep it turned to low to keep it from rattling. It was extremely hot outside, so we would have liked to have the air conditioner turned on high, but could not if we wanted to be in the room.

    the pool area was great

staff was really unkind (exception for the pool guy). the breakfast was very poor

Staff where very friendly and accommodating, the hotel itself was very nice. The pool was fantastic and the 4 course dinner at the hotel was very nice. We used it as a stay over on our way to Cinque Terra but could have stayed longer.

    No negatives for this hotel

Beautiful hotel grounds spread among several old buildings, with large rooms in fairly good shape. Beds were fine, and pool was outstanding. Free parking and an electric car charging point, which was great. Staff were also helpful and friendly.

Breakfast was fairly mediocre, not what you would expect from such a hotel. Cappucino was extra charge, and coffee included in breakfast tasted like instant.

This is a gem hidden in a walled garden, with red squirrels in the grounds, a most beautiful building, fabulous food, friendly staff and wonderful facilities.

Great hotel with specious rooms. Just off the motorway. Swimming pool was a bonus. Food was excellent.

    10SandraPosted on: 8-28-2023

Everything. Extremely helpful service from the friendly lady in the reception. Great Bagage service and cocktails were fantastic.

Breakfast all good with a wide variety of food and beverages. Guests have a choice of three dining rooms all positioned around a central servery, and adjacent to a pleasant garden terrace which is a nice place to take your morning coffee. The pleasant main restaurant has a slightly disjointed layout and provides reasonable menu choice. The quality of food is good and service excellent. Maybe the Hotel could consider offering guests a 'daily special' or two to further broaden its appeal to longer term guests? Our room was spacious and comfortable with views of the lovely surrounding countryside. Staff members were friendly, helpful and patient at all times, which we appreciated because our Italian is not a strong point! The Hotel is situated in a truly magnificent area with beautiful far reaching rural views to one side and majestic mountains to the other. In hot weather the good sized swimming pool area provides somewhere to cool off and perhaps have an al-fresco lunch. All in all a lovely place to stay.

A lack of cooked breakfast items for late risers. Being from the UK, we often enjoy an 'English Breakfast' whilst away, so a little disappointing when there's not much left by 9.30am! Our bathroom towels, whilst clean and adequate, could not be described as luxurious, but in all honesty, given the general quality of the hotel and its numerous facilities this is a minor point that could very easily be rectified.

What a place! A magnificent period villa, conservatively restored to closely resemble its original state. Truly a unique location. The rooms are elegantly furnished. The staff is delightful. The pool is beautiful and clean. The garden is pleasant. Overall, a really good experience at the Sina Relais Villa Matilda.

    Nice staff and clean rooms.

Unfortunately were quite disappointed with the look of the rooms. Pictures shown on the website are primarily the rooms in the older part of the place. We were placed in the corner of the newer buildings which looked and felt more like a hotel in Alanya. No personality.

Super friendly and helpful staff and reception, fantastic cooked breakfast, way above standard in Italy, great pool, sauna, weights, went cycling and gravelbiking in the beautiful surroundings, there is a hose to clean the bikes with, dinner and wines were also excellent and the room was just class as is the building!

    Really nothing!

Beautiful villa, but very bad maintained. We took Deluxe apartments which are far from deluxe. The room was full with du

    9KarenPosted on: 8-13-2022

Breakfast was good with a large variety but was often not replenished. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Ambience and lounges were relaxing and the leisure facilities good.

The swimming pool and leisure facilities closed too early.

super nice old castle, swimming pool

There was a door to the hotel room next to which could be better isolated.
