Clean and comfortable room
Toilet seat broken, main stairs dirty and overall decor tired
Family room was perfect, 2 single beds were separated from the master double. Aircon and fridge were helpful features.Breakfast room and restaurant were lovely looking. Breakfast selection was varied and good quality, reservation was needed.Outdoor courtyard offered somewhere chilled to relax after a long journey. Congratulations they deserved were delicious, with cocktails offered as well. Easy access from motorway makes it perfect for stops mid travels. Quality of hotel would be good for a longer stay.
Restaurant had fabulous reviews and was one of the reasons for choosing the hotel, however it's closed on a Monday, the day we were there.
Breakfast was excellent- good choice of quality food.
Price was on high side and Breakfast was an additional €11.
Restaurant for dinner was excellent. Breakfast was good and the hotel was in a lovely square.
Lovely building, great location. Room was comfortable and clean. A short walk to all the facilities in the town (although for some reason, almost everything was closed on this Wednesday evening in August!). Staff very friendly and helpful.
The individual room description in Booking.com is misleading. It suggests the room has a terrace, but in fact, the rooms are on the upper floors - the terrace is a dining terrace to the side of the hotel, shared by all. We were a bit disappointed about that - and considered the room to be overpriced as a result.
The dinner and breakfast were very good and service good too. The staff were efficient and nice. So was the Manager. It was not expensive so good value
The entrance outside in the courtyard is shabby. The hotel lobby is very shabby, the reception desk dark and welcoming and untidy. The lights in the square we’re annoying on a warm night (we didn’t use air con). Worst of all was the street cleaning machine started 6 am very noisy. The whole building needs redecorating in good taste.
I have stayed here before and returned for 2 reasons. Firstly the restaurant is really excellent and I had a fabulous dinner. Secondly the hotel is within easy reach of the ferry to Caen.
It was all great. Be aware that there is no lift, but I was helped with my case so that wasn’t a problem for me.
The and clean room was spacious; the breakfast was excellent
We arrived on a Sunday and were the only people staying that night. The reception was manned for only a few hours and we felt uncomfortable and a bit unsafe. The restaurant, which had very good reviews, was closed for our two evenings and only one other place was open.
Dinner was fantastic and the service was excellent. Attentive and very skilled staff.
The bed sheets could be 100% cotton.
The room was spacious and facilities very good. Excellent night’s sleep even with church bells. Centrally set in pretty small town. Good restaurant nearby. Lovely building with stained glass windows.
Hotel restaurant was closed (annual holidays which we were aware of before booking)sadly but the hotel arranged a table at a local restaurant which was good.
This was a great hotel, very old and quirky. The breakfast was excellent with hot options. The staff were so helpful.Would definitely recommend. The car park was public but no problem parking.
Old world charm, location, friendly people
Customer service - staff all fantastic, attentive and friendly. Food simply superb. Don’t be put off by the exterior.
Bedrooms lack same character as rest of property but being picky as they were comfortable and clean with air con.
Good bedroom and comfortable bed.
We were not advised that the restaurant was going to definitely be closed until it was too late to cancel. Despite advising that we would arrive between 3pm and 4pm, the hotel was unstaffed and empty. Our keys had been left on the reception desk. We had just completed a 6.5hr journey and needed refreshments. There was nowhere open in town, so after that epic drive, we had to get in the car again to drive to a neighbouring town. My husband complained to the proprietor when we returned to the hotel later that afternoon who offered us a complimentary drink. We had this in the garden and then we decided to buy another drink and he had left the hotel again! He left a young girl in charge who was not familiar with prices etc. Not happy. I think guests should be welcomed properly .
We stopped off en route to Bordeaux, absolutely ideal, easy parking which was free ‘ le weekend’. We asked for ground floor room as we aren’t too keen on stairs and that was great. Sitting in the courtyard with a kit royale was fabulous after a long journey. The meal was delicious and the local white wine wonderful.
Lovely period hotel in a convenient location from the A28 with a Saturday market and a very good breakfast.
Not much!
The electricity in our room didn’t work some of the time and we had to pack by torch light! The breakfast was the worst of a week in France. Dining room floor was sticky!
