    Pros +

    • We arrived a bit earlier than expected, and though we had booked a room with a view of the lake, but upon arrival we were given a ground floor room. When I inquired about the lake-view room, I was told that it wasn't cleaned yet, but they also told me that it was on the 3rd floor, with no lift, which I am not able to access. The ground floor room was actually better than the 3rd-floor lake-view, and I was very grateful for the room change. Also, even though the hotel was extremely understaffed, the employees working that day were extremely helpful, patient, kind, and hard-working, especially the gentleman at the front desk (who was also acting as host and waiter at the restaurant that night!), whose name I think was Melvin or Melville? Excellent person!
    • There was a good selection of food for breakfast but the coffee machine was broken.
    • The room was comfortable and quiet. It was clean but the towels were too small.

    Cons -

    • They could use some internet/wifi boosters for the rooms in the adjacent building. We had to switch rooms upon arrival because we couldn't get any signal in the first room. We had a marginally better signal in the second. Apparently the signal in the mail hotel and on the third floor of the adjacent building have stronger connections
    • Our room was dirty. There were hairs in the bath and tissues all over the floor. We spoke to reception about it but they were also covering the restaurant and so we’re very busy. There were no alternatives available. We brought it up again at check out and we’re told there was nothing they could do.We weren’t able to eat dinner in the restaurant as it was completely full.
    • The evening meal was poor.It did not represent good value for money. The breakfast was poor and very limited in quality and quantity for what it cost.Very disappointing for a Logis.

perfect location in central Combourg for sightseeing, shopping and many restaurants, cafes and bars. Staff were very friendly and hard working.

Room very clean but a bit shabby with light fittings coming away from wall. lovely big shower but I thought there would be a bath. nice big bed though.

    6AlisonPosted on: 7-26-2022

Dinnerl in the restaurant was very enjoyable. Service both at reception and in the dining room was very good. The hotel is situated close to the lake and the chateau and a short walk into the town centre.

The staircase up to the bedrooms was quite difficult to walk up and down with luggage. Not suitable for anyone with mobility issues and there is no lift. For some reason there was no soap provided, only shower gel and shampoo.

Location, Combourg is a beautiful town

-Compared with other places we stayed in this this trip we feel it is over priced.- There was no air conditioning which resulted in a poor nights sleep.-Although the shower room was ok, the bed room needs a make over

Well, what a lovely little find! We were originally staying in the hotel opposite but when we discovered that the restaurant there was closed Fridays and Sundays, we switched. And we are so glad we did! We loved our spacious room in the annexe with lovely, comfy bed and a view of the pretty garden. The cuisine was so delicious and with an unexpected and interesting choice. Staff were attentive and so very welcoming. We loved our visit to the château too. We will definitely return.

the bedroom.the location was wonderful with the village having a good choice to eat out in the evening

the overall feel of the hotel was that it was run down and needed some love and care.the breakfast room was dark. closed curtains and windowsthe dining room dark and smelt musty with no windows openthe graden was uncared for, the grass uncut and plant pots emptya shame, the property is beautiful and situated below the chateaux

    convenient location

food was adequate but not good. breakfast coffee from the machine was undrinkable. Duck at dinner was very tough.toilet paper useless! false economy as had to use reams to make up for quality

location and pleasant and helpful staff. warm and comfortable.

Drab lounge and breakfast room. Breakfast was not good, they had run out of several things, eg. croissant. Building needs upgrading. Wider dinner menu would help.

A quiet hotel in a very pleasant situation. Our spacious room had a view over the lake. Nice ambience in the restaurant with attentive service and good food & wine list. Easy free parking.

Whilst we had no complaints about the breakfast itself, staffing of the breakfast room was non-existent. On each morning of our three-day stay we and/or other guests had to leave the breakfast room to ask at reception for a table to be set or for various items to be replenished. This they did willingly, but we were disappointed and felt that the lack of attention let the hotel down.

Gorgeous setting. Our double club room was amazing: beautifully decorated and comfotable; loved the bathroom, spacious and luxurious. The hotel is set in a most characterful location, by a stunning chateau and by a lake, in a gorgeous square with a lovely statue of Chateaubriand.

    9AmbermillerPosted on: 3-12-2022

Very hospitable staff who were very attentive.

Breakfast was a bit "prepackaged", no host, and mini croissants instead of normal sized ones. Our club room was very clean, but a little lacking in luxury.

    Clean and comfortable

No lifts tight staircasewith luggage. Restaurant food was awful quality. Some of the bar drinks were extremely expensive . Very limited breakfast

    8JuliePosted on: 12-7-2021

Reception staff very helpful in sorting out a double booking with Booking.com. Breakfast good. Meal in restaurant very good.

Rooms a bit dated but adequate

    4HarveyPosted on: 11-29-2021

location, size of bedroom and en suite.

every table in breakfast room uncleared. hardly any breakfast choice left and only 3 half slices of sliced bread and the end piece of a baguette. no one around to help and the only person on duty was on reception taking phone calls. bedroom basic and the furthest from reception despite being designated as a disability room.

    7AnnettePosted on: 10-22-2021

The restaurant and food was very very good. The soufflé excellent! The staff very helpful and efficient.

The rather dark room and the fact the room wasn't cleaned in three days. This was explained on check-in but still felt the reasons weren't very acceptable

The property at first glance appears old but the hotel is welcoming, clean and cosy. The staff are friendly and very helpful. we had an issue with the size of the doublebed in the family room when we arrived with our 2 children. It was a small double. The staff were extremely helpful to rectify the problem efficiently and move us to a new room without any bother. The hotel is well situated, just next to the Chateau and within walking distance of the lake and lots of nice restaurants and shops. La Lanterne Restaurant (Creperie and Pizzeria) was a particular favourite. Lovely food in a family friendly atmosphere.I would recommend this hotel.

Comfortable beds in a room with modern decor. We had a very good meal in the restaurant

Entrance to the parking was narrow

    8ChristanPosted on: 9-20-2021

Helpful, friendly staff (especially on arrival) and excellent steak and chips in the restaurant

Towels are a bit on the thin side and could do with being renewed!
