The Chateau had a a lot of charm and was in a very tranquil area. Pretty garden and pool and very interesting building architecturally. We had dinner in the restaurant as we did not fancy having to drive anywhere in the evening. Good food and a very nice and helpful sommelier.Good breakfast with helpful staff, served in the old kitchen and morning room.
There is no accounting for taste, so this is my very personal opinion: the building is very beautiful and there were some very nice bits of furniture and fantastic rugs, only to be spoiled by very incongruous Thai decorations all over the place. The furniture in the room, even if a bit dark was in keeping with the style/period of the chateau but the chair for the dressing table was cheap convention conference room standard, totally out of place. There was piped music in the restaurant which we found awful, we were told the owner himself had curated it and was very proud of his choice (same with the gap year decorations from Thailand). Very mixed results all over
This is a magnificent chateau with a lovely swimming pool. We even had the opportunity to go canoeing on the waterways that runs through the ground. A very relaxing atmosphere and the best accommodation we have had on our cycling trips
Good news, bad news! Good news: we got to stay there one night. The bad news: we only stayed there one night. But we took advantage of every amenity and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The real highlight, however, was L'Orangerie. A review on this website mentioned that dining there was a seminal experience. As foodies, that was the all we needed to know! So we took it on...the 8-course tasting (degustation) menu. The quality of the food, it's preparation, and it's presentation was exquisite. Surpassed only by the outstanding service of Imaad, the waiter, sommelier, and maître'd.We concluded our stay the next day with a mediocre massage but there's no way that was going to impact the delight of our stay at Château de l'Epinay!
Despite communicating with the massage therapists (in French) before they started and during the massage, that we wanted more pressure, it was in vain. Disappointed!
Beautiful building and grounds and so many lovely touches. The pool was heavenly (unheated so chilly in April)! Everything seemed so easy the whole experience was incredibly relaxing. I loved it and hope to go back.
Nice vibe, good restaurant and vine, possibility to explore château. Amazing
We got number to stay, not at the main chateau building. It was upset:; we got number at tine attic under separate SPA building.
Lovely grounds and gardens. The pool looks lovely. Breakfast was very good.
Very disappointed that the restaurant was closed, as I had chosen the hotel because I wanted to eat there. We didn't find this out until we tried to book a table a few days before our stay, and by then it was too late to change our plans. Totally understand that this kind of thing does happen, but hotel didn't make any effort to let us know. If I had known I would have stayed somewhere else that was closer to the restaurants.
Beautiful chateau Friendly staff
Wifi was not good in our room . Safe was open / locked . We could not use it . Staff only needed to use a key to unlock it , but was not able to do it .
The building and setting were magnificent! Typical French chateau with formal gardens and fountains in the front and plenty of space to roam around. We particularly liked the natural pool which we have wanted to try for ages. The dinner in the restaurant was good but expensive (140 euros for two people with just two glasses of wine each and one of us only having two courses). There was also a very extensive gym area but surprisingly no running machine.
We chose this place because they said they had an EV charging point. What they actually had was a dedicated wall socket in a garage which would have required very long charging times. Not really practical even overnight. You would also have to have your home charging 13 amp cable and an adaptor. The staff were very young and not well trained. When we asked where the charging point was, they did not know but promised to find out. When I went back to reception a couple of hours later, they still did not know and had obviously done nothing to find out, They were all very young - I think we only ever met one person above the age of 30 and that was at check out. They also left items off our bill which I only noticed after we had left unfortunately. Staff training really needs to be worked on!
The all environment is very charming and beautiful. All the facilities are nice and well maintained.Very good breakfast, beautiful "natural" swimming pool and nice SpA.
The restaurant is good but quite expensive compared to the choice.Just few cocktail for "aperitif".
Lovely building
Very slow check in and check out procedure Restaurant was fully booked I would have expected when I booked the accommodation I would have received an email to see if I wanted to book the restaurant
Lovely location and building. The restaurant was excellent for dinner. Very pleasant grounds and setting.
The property is getting tired. There did not seem to be any senior staff around, who didn’t seem to have any experience. It was not suitable for babies. We were given a room at teh top of a narrow flight of stairs which we had to carry the pram to every night. The doorways are all too narrow for a pram. The staff didn’t seem to appreciate any of this. The breakfast was very poor for a hotel charging this amount. Gym has clearly never been cleaned - covered in dust and dead flies. It’s all more of a 3 star hotel.
it is a beautiful place, very conveniently located for visiting the Chateau de Serrant. The natural pool and the lavender field are truly amazing. The bedroom is big and nicely furnished and the bathroom is also big with bathrobes and slippers. The breakfast is excellent but costs €22.
Maybe we were unlucky but a few things were not right and at that price it is not acceptable. The TV in the room was not working and my husband was keen to see the Eurocup. When I ran the water to take a bath, the water came out brown. The staff explained the room had not been used for some time but again for a 4 star hotel it should have been checked before our arrival. Finally the waiting time in the restaurant was unacceptable, we were told there was a lack of stall, Although the food was good, our evening was partially spoilt.
Lovely setting. Beautiful buildings. Good food. Helpful staff.
We chose the stopover as we were wanting to stay in a Chateau. This was more of a hotel / spa in a lovely historic building than a Chateau. The building had been modernised with UPVC windows and doors. Roller blinds not shutters and much of the furniture was modern. We upgraded our rooms. The original ones we booked were small and very modern. More in keeping with a modern barn coversion that a Chateau. A lovely few days but not if you were looking for the authentic Chateau experience.
Absolutely stunning chateau - we arrived while a wedding was taking place and it was lovely.. Our room in an annex behind was fantastic - really nicely designed. Breakfast was amazing and our dip in the pool followed by steam room was an unexpected but brilliant experience.
Just about everything. Dinner at l’Orangerie was a seminal life experience. The chef was brilliant, the chef’s wife/Maitre ‘D was informative, funny and just an absolute delight. I had the best Cod fish of my life. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The building and landscaping were stunning.
This is not a big deal, but the room was very small for two people.
Dinner was alright and I was surprised my special request was fulfilled, so credit where credit is due I guess
Lack of room service, laundry service and the fact that the room didn’t even have a phone to call the reception which is ridiculous for a hotel in the 21st century. The former two are just blatant false advertising ?
This hotel is a little off the beaten track but well worth the effort. A beautiful property and a great restaurant. Set in extensive grounds with a fresh water swimming pool and numerous activities offered .
This is a well run hotel, there was nothing we didn’t like.
