SPA Hotel Ismena

I liked the location and the breakfast in the morning was ok!

At times, they advertise services they do not have available (ie. Laundry or gym). Massage options are limited. The room had a center table and nightstand stained/chipped/damaged and the room had a smoke smell to it. The dining experience at night is buffet style but the staff is reluctant to help when it comes to even seating. It’s an ok place but- compared to any other place we stayed in Sapareva Banya, Bansko, Sofia, Plovdiv… it is definitely not a good value for money.

We traveled with our friends and kids. The facilities are really nice -- clean pools, aesthetically pleasing well-maintained surroundings with gardens.

Our room smelled like smoke, unfortunately. Outside, there were a lot of people smoking. Yes, we saw separate eating areas for smokers vs not, however at some point while we were lounging with kids by the mineral water pool, there was a family smoking nearby :( Sad, because other than that it's a beautiful place for relaxation.

The facilities are excellent, our room was big, and the SPA and swimming pools were perfect

The food was less than average and inconsistent. The bread had mold, and some of the fruits were unfresh. The overall feeling was that the kitchen was reusing the food from one meal to another, and the food was not fresh. This is petty since the hotel has great potential.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and warm. The spa was good, we especially enjoyed the thermal pond outside, although it could be hotter ideally (the water temperature is about 34 C degrees).

This hotel is great, spa was good and the staff really polite. It is really clean and well maintained. The fact that there are 2 SPA centers and children are not allowed in one of those is an excellent idea. ( I have 2 children). The size of the apartment was actually bigger than expected.

Actually it was all OK but it takes a lo g time to reach Devin which has nothing to do with the hotel itself

rich and very enough breakfast , spa was perfect, we had extremely professional rehab massage from Mr- Julian - we suggest the guy on 100 %, we were in this hotel for the very first time , but we will come back for sure:) all the team of the hotel is very nice, friendly and cooperative - it is hard to be seen in this time.

very poor wine selection - maybe enough for people who dont like wine, but for wine lovers is not ok.

The staff were AMAZING! Our room was modern and comfortable. The spa was super clean and well kept. The traditional food on offer was super tasty! We had the spa to ourselves.

The complex wasn’t quite the mountainous location we expected with a street next to our room that was at times noisy with dogs barking and power tools. We had some noisy guests staying above us. On our first spa visit the staff member was nowhere to be seen for over an hour. The outside mineral pools were a bit colder than we expected but sone whisky helped enjoy them on the last night.

The surroundings of the place are magnificent, you feel like you are deep in the woods. The hot pool was nice, so was the spa zone. The Complex architecture is amazing, you feel like you are staying in an old traditional house which gives you a cozy atmosphere.

The sauna in one of the spa zones didn't work. The pools outside were very dirty from the trees above and the staff rarely cleaned them. We had to request it ourselves at a certain point, as there were bugs and leaves everywhere in the water. On a separate note, there wasn't enough capacity as the outdoor pools aren't that large. The food is not good and that's an inconvenience because you need to go out of the complex to grab a bite.

Poor breakfast , almost the same every day , as the dinner . It was not tasty

More meat for dinner at least . Very expensive hotel , like 5 star hotel , but it is not . If you want to go to the SPA zone you have to go out , be cold and then enter the SPA . The water was not MINERAL!!

Amazing place for relaxing vacation in the mountains. The staff were extremely helpful, kind and going out of their way to make sure your stay is pleasant and you feel good.The food was delicious with variety of local dishes.The rooms are spacious and clean.

The location was great! The spa was nice except one of the sections at the adult spa which didn't work, so we weren't able to experience it. Beautiful nature nearby. Very nice welcoming and friendly staff at the reception and the lady at the spa. Nasko was the best server at the restaurant/buffet.

There was not great food variety and some of the food was undercooked at times. The shower in our room was loose and we had to call maintenance. No phone in the room. Coffee and juice machines were broken one day and there was no juice available anywhere not even at the bar. The disposable cups finished and they were offering only glass ones to take outside or to your room. It seems like this facility has not been managed well!

Gardens, pools and dips

Remodelling and repairing of the surrounding it’s a must. The food, definitely not worth the price we paid for.

The location is great, and the building are nice and in good condition, though a bit dated. The garden is beautiful and well-maintained as well as the pools.

For the price, we would have expected a much better restaurant and overall quality of the rooms, staff, etcetera. We had just come for the Hyatt Regency hotel in Pravet (which is also a 4-star hotel) but is in a completely different league. We really had to adjust our expectations, and we have actually skipped the included dinner buffet multiple times to eat in the village, to get better quality food and atmosphere. In hindsight; we would have been better off renting an apartment for a fraction of the price and going to village for food and spa experiences.

The location and the lovely nature around the complex. The pool is good and the surroundings are maintained well.

We really didn’t understand how this can be a 4* hotel. The rooms are not properly maintained, problems in the bathroom, smell, just a full refurbishment is needed! The personnel is nice but struggling to address the numerous issues from guests and just drive you around the bend. Moreover, people reserve sunbeds with bananas from breakfast - what a ridiculous behaviour, together with ill-behaved kids jumping in the pool all day long. There is a lot to be desired from the guests as well but that’s surely not hotel’s problem. Food and its serving is far from what it has to be in a 4* hotel. Much better places in Devin to have a dinner.In other words, find a better place for that price if you want to have a relaxing holiday in that amazing region of Bulgaria.

The landscaping is beautiful

The description of the property doesn’t match the services provided. We are traveling with a baby under 1 and requested a quiet accommodation with a baby cot. We are placed in the noisiest apartment possible, next to the elevator shaft and overlooking a highway, hearing everything from cars to dogs. The baby cot was broken. After contacting front desk multiple times, we were told there is no other baby cot available at this time, and this particular one was indeed, broken. It only got replaced the next night, causing us extreme discomfort. When enquiring about why we were assigned that apartment we were told at reception we shouldn’t have used booking.com, and to do it differently next time.There is no wifi since we arrived. Upon questioning, at the front desk we were told there is an issue with one of the servers. No timeline for resolution was provided. It impacted our ability to do our jobs.There was rattan furniture on the terrace which could have ended us in a hospital. The bottom had fallen and there were nails sticking out under the pillows. After reporting it for 2 days multiple times per day, on the third we found it was simply taken out of the room and not replaced. There was no bed linen provided for a second person. We had to request it late in the evening and wait until it was delivered to us.The door knob is rusty and made it very difficult to get in and out of the place. At a certain point we couldn’t unlock it anymore. Maintenance was sent and they struggled as well, after which sprayed it with a greaser and called it resolved.The water boiling cane is cracked. We did not bother reporting it at this point.Food was mediocre at best and the service was done by inexperienced trainees left to fend for themselves. We paid 700 eur for 4 nights and are extremely disappointed

Great location and facilities, food was very good and the staff was friendly. The pools were clean. There were a lot of kids and there were toys and a playground for them. We had great massages.

Lots of stairs. Wish there were more ramps for strollers. There was a slide, a swing and a small house for little kids. Would be nice to add one more thing on the kids playground. The pull out bed for one of the kids wasn't comfortable but the crib was great.

The hotel garden is very nice and the main pool is good.The room was clean and the staff was nice

The food is not good.Our room was facing outside so we had a lot of noise and we didn't enjoy the inner garden view, It was a big disappointment for us, as the garden view is nice.The room was outdated and not well equipped.The kids bed was too small.

The main pool is great, however is difficult for elderly people to get in and out, spa area was okay but unfortunately jacuzzi was dirty, the thermal pools are small and dirty also a lot of insects around. The apartment we stayed was dirty, hairy floors, mold in the bathroom, fridge barely working with big yellow stain at the bottom, air conditioners not working, the bed in the second bedroom is basically a sofa bed very uncomfortable, pillows very cheap and tacky, uncomfortable. No food between 15:00 till 19:00. So if you travel with small kids or fancy late lunch/ snack be prepared ( as there is no close restaurant or shop near by). Breakfast and dinner okay notting fancy, simple meals but tasty.We have not been provided with different towels for the swimming/ spa area so you have to use the ones from your room for everything, although they do provide with bathrobe.

There is no kids pool, the play area for kids was filthy the single slide and swing very old

The garden, the pools, the rooms (except the problem with the doors), and furniture. It was clean and comfortable.

The room doors in apartment 202 are not closing properly- hopefully can be fixed, as it was not very comfortable not being able to close them, or if we succeed to close them, then it was really difficult to open them.
