    • The property was a fantastic walk through history. The grounds and the building are meticulously kept by a very friendly and extremely helpful staff. Everyone speaks English and eager to help with anything needed from ironing boards to restaurant reservations.
    • Incredible views, charming ambiance and attentive staff. This is a special hotel offering great value a little off the beaten path in Tuscany.
    • The stay at the convent was beyond brilliant. It is an old monastery which has been restored. Ample car park. Amazing setting. Friendly & helpful staff. Heated pool. We were given a wonderful tour of the property by Marianna (whose family owns the place) and got to know more about it's history , see the ancient cellars (the natural spring there!) and the way the family & the convent are woven together. Breakfast was delicious. The cherry and plum jams were made from the fruits from the garden. We saw a beautiful wedding take place there. And got to attend a concert too!Thermal pool - Bagni San Filippo - is near by.Mount Amiata is a short drive away.Abbadia Salvatore, a town nearby, is worth exploring. We would love to go back.

    • Breakfast was not great, the real let down was the restaurant at dinner though. Two dishes served were terrible, one beef dish totally overcooked and lukewarm, the other was so burnt we had to send it back.
    • The place is a bit far away from everything. We wanted to tour Pienza, Montepulciano, and other areas so it is ideal for one night only. We ended up staying three nights and thought it was a bad strategy. I’d rather stay in an Agriturismo in Pienza instead.

The history is the best part of it. The owner, Mariana, is spectacular and the place comes alive when she does the tour with us. The pool os also nice with a one-of-a-kind view!

We had a wonderful two-day stay at Convento San Bartolomeo—a truly one-of-a-kind experience. The service was exceptional from start to finish. One of the owners gave us a personal tour of the property, sharing its rich and fascinating history, which became one of the highlights of our visit. Our room was incredibly spacious—we stayed in a beautifully appointed two-bedroom, two-bath suite with a separate living room. It was perfect for relaxing and felt like a home away from home. The property itself is absolutely stunning—perched on a mountainside with sweeping views of Tuscany. The pool and hot tub overlook the landscape, making it a perfect spot to unwind. The interiors throughout the hotel are tastefully designed, full of thoughtful details and charming décor that reflect the building’s heritage. We also appreciated the convenience of having a grocery store just next door. Everything about our stay felt warm, special, and memorable. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and peaceful Tuscan retreat.

It’s just a magically amazing place! Breathtaking view, pool with warm geothermal water, beautifully renovated ancient convent, where everything breathes with a history. Our room was spacious as well as the bathroom. Everything is very clean, food is delicious (we had breakfast, tried lunch once and had a dinner few times). The owners and the staff are very nice, friendly and helpful! We warmly recommend you to stay here!

    We liked everything!

Steeped in history - our tour of the convent was fascinating. The outdoor pool is lovely and hot with stunning views across the valley. Lovely traditional touches throughout. A real sense of peace.

Their website says "You will not find any TV in any of our rooms since we value the silence and the mystic atmosphere you can breathe at Convento San Bartolomeo" yet one evening there was live music in the bar until 11pm. Spa room was not prepared for our session.Thick rubber under sheet on bed.

Convento is an interesting property to say the least. The stay itself is really great and you can feel the history as soon as you see it, not to mention step in it. However then start the issues. 1. The staff seems to be new to the whole idea of working in a hotel like environment.2. The prices and offer of beverages, food is non existant so you are left up with a surprise bill at the end of the stay. Needless to say the prices are heavily exagerated for them being sub-par in quality. Example 2 hot chocolates were 15 euros. 3. We booked a room with a jacuzzi, which leaked so we couldnt use it, as we didnt want to flood the room. Did it get fixed? No Did we get a discount considering our room was not what we paid for? Of course not4. Considering that you are in a remote place, a very very small town Convento San Bartolomeo should offer food, snacks or anything to eat since the dinner is from 8pm so good luck eating between breakfast and dinner.5. The breakfast is sub par if you are a person that doesnt eat pork, I understand that Italians eat pork en masse but a hotel or a business in the tourism area should be aware that people that dont eat pork also exist. 6. All in all the hotel has a nice perspective, but it needs some people knowledgable in the tourism industry to be in charge to really get it to shine. 7. One really great thing I will mention tho is the outside heated pool.

From the moment I stepped in, I couldn’t stop saying “Wow!”—what an amazing place! Staying in a monastery with incredibly thick walls was a first-time experience for me. We were given a spacious suite with classic and elegant furniture. The wooden doors and windows, along with their vintage opening mechanisms, made me feel like I had traveled back in time while sitting in the cozy armchair. The staff was very friendly. Although the one who welcomed us didn’t speak English, he was kind and patient, using a translator to communicate and even helping us book a fantastic nearby restaurant.Breakfast was great—you choose your meal the day before, and everything is fresh, delicious, and plentiful. The monastery itself has beautiful scenery, perfect for a relaxing morning walk.My only regret is staying just one night—I’ll definitely be back!

History about the hotel. Excellent food. Immaculate. Heated pool. 5 star location. Gracious host.

An amazing old building with a real feeling of history. Great breakfast. Lovely pool area with amazing view.

Some of the staff a little 'cool', not very smiley, we felt like just another customer. (Not all the staff, the owner who gave us a little tour was really nice). The convent is actually right on a main road and next to a big supermarket. We had assumed it would have been a bit more remote (I guess it used to be before the town grew). It was peaceful though.

This place was a dream. From the staff, to the room and the hotel grounds and history, we loved every single bit of it. We stayed 5 nights and everything was exceptional. Pool was the best part and water was like a warm bath. Also amazing places to sit around the hotel, chill and just read a book. Quiet and far from city noises. Perfect relaxation location.

Mattress was a bit hard and pillows was quite thin. I didn't sleep so well and that was a bit of a let down ☹️

An amazing place full of history and hidden spots !!!The view is spectacular, the food delicious and the facilities and staff beyond expectations? the accommodation you were looking for in Italy to experience authenticity!!!!!! The owner gave us a tour the last day that made the place even more fascinated! Ask for the tour , you won’t regret it !

This was one of our favorite places we have ever stayed and we love to travel all over the world! The staff here made our time really exceptional. The service could not have been better from the bartender, to the concierge, to the cook, to the cleaning ladies. We opted to eat here for all 3 nights and the four course dinners were way better than we could have thought. The bar drinks were reasonably priced. You cannot beat the view from the hot tub and pool over looking the valley. We took the tour with the owner in the morning and we are glad we did there is so much history to this place. I cannot say enough good things about our experience here. We loved this place so much that we are hoping to return for our wedding in a few years.

Absolutely magical place in an old monastery. A unique place with a beautiful garden. The staff was very kind and helpful. The place is intended for relaxation and rest. It is an oasis of peace, everywhere you can feel the legacy of history. The owner was very nice and guided us through the history of this place.

This is a stunning property with amazing surroundings and friendly staff. Their €38 4-course dinner was very good quality and wines were priced very reasonably.

Very beautiful and unique property and delicious breakfast

Did not seem like the hot tub was working and the pool closed early. Not a big deal but we had a long travel day and it would have been nice to have a soak.

A beautiful historic property with amazing vistas. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. The family has done an impressive job of restoring and maintaining this historic convent. It is comfortable and peaceful but also conveniently located.

The room only had a fan so it was pretty warm in the summer.

Amazing view, very friendly personnel, comfortable rooms and yummy food :)

Rooms were kind of dark, there wasn’t too much light. Additionally we came by electric car and wish we could have charged the car somewhere on site (fortunately we found a public charger right by the supermarket next to the hotel)

The character and history of the hotel was very nice and what attracted us to the property. All members of staff we interacted with were courteous and pleasant. The nearby medieval town was nice and there were several nice places to eat.

Unfortunately, the night we arrived for 4 nights was not what we had hoped for. There was a concert very nearby which was very loud. It was supposed to finish at midnight, but went on until after 3am. As there was no air con we could not close the windows and had very little sleep if any. This was not the start to a restful few days we had wanted from this stay. We decided to leave the next morning, which was a shame!I must say that the hotel owner and management were very apologetic. The tried very hard to find a solution the next day, but by then we wanted to move to somewhere where we could guarantee some rest. The hotel agreed to refund us for the three days and we could not fault them with the way they handled the situation.
