About

At Corinna Wilderness Village, in the western wilderness of Tasmania, nature is the hero. We invite you to Corinna where you can feed your soul and nourish your senses, in and around this remote settlement on the banks of a primitive river – an unforgettable experience that unlocks the secrets of the ancient takayna/Tarkine rainforest and the wild west coast of Australia's southernmost state. Set within the Pieman River State Reserve, Corinna Wilderness Village offers rustic, contemporary cottage accommodations alongside the Pieman River, and access to a springboard of activities. Guests have the ability to enjoy the Tannin Restaurant (serving local Tasmanian produce), the Ahrberg Bar (featuring Tasmanian beer, wine and whiskey), and the outdoor communal BBQ area for those balmy Summer evenings in the wilderness. All cottages are designed with minimalist comfort in mind, featuring a patio veranda backing directly onto the Tarkine Rainforest, a cozy gas log fire style heater, a private ensuite and fully equipped kitchenette with tea/coffee making facilities. The property takes the conservation of nature seriously, and features an eco-friendly solar-power setup to operate all services and fresh, filtered rainwater tanks for water consumption. Relax and unwind with a quality Tasmanian wine or spirit at the Ahrberg bar with views of the Pieman River, or in the privacy of your cozy, heritage style cottage. Immerse yourself in the high quality of fresh Tasmanian ingredients at Tannin Restaurant, serving breakfast (8am-9:30am), lunch (12-2pm) and dinner (6pm-Close) daily in the May-Sept months. While Tannin is closed during winter, our chefs prepare hearty meals you are able to reheat in your cottage at your leisure to ensure a full experience is on offer to all. With fishing, different grades of nature hikes/walks, and awe-inspiring river reflections while kayaking all within yards of your doorstep, choose between a relaxing immersive forest experience in a quiet, ancient environment, or make the most of nature and immerse yourself fully in the activities that Corinna has on offer. All questions can be answered, or activities booked, at our reception desk in the Tarkine Hotel by our friendly and informative team. Corinna Wilderness Village is a 1 hour drive north of Zeehan, a 1 hour drive south west of Waratah, a 2 hour drive south of Burnie and Smithton, and a 3.5 hour drive west of Launceston. Directions can be obtained by using a maps application or by contacting our friendly team. Please note, Corinna Wilderness Village is off the grid. No mobile phone coverage, no wifi access and no TV signal is accessible. Please keep this in mind when planning your experience.

    Pros +

    • Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff, very enjoyable river trip. Recommended for good value.
    • Beautiful Wilderness Village. TheCottages private and very clean and peaceful. Bedding comfortable, had an amazing nights rest.Tannin Restaurant was great, we had the Seafood Linguine with saffron and was delicious. Staff friendly. Went on both the cruises and I would definitely recommend it. Worth spending time and staying overnight we did 2 nights and would have loved to stay another.
    • Such a pretty rainforest escape. Amazing little cottage! We rented kayaks and had a great day. Super comfortable.

    Cons -

    • I didn't know that the ferry was going to close which lead to a bit of a panic. If you are coming from the west check the times. It says this in the email but very far down.

Everything was perfect! This was our second visit and we really hope to come again. The cabins are so comfortable, and the staff friendly, and the meals terrific, and the location is out of this world. The Pieman River trip to the coast on the Arcadia, the walks and the early morning kayak were stunning. Thanks you!

Beautiful setting. Great staff. We found it a bit overpriced. I would recommend staying in Zeehan

I could not rate staying here any higher. I'm already thinking about how I can come back next year. It is a beautiful little spot to explore the local area and slow down. The cabins were wonderful, everything you'd need for a comfortable stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The absolute highlight of our trip to Tassie! Such a unique accommodation option that would be hard to match. We loved being out of phone reception, taking the time to enjoy the river and the walks. Kayaking on the river first thing in the morning was incredibly beautiful, we felt so lucky to stay here!

Loved the accommodation very rustic but fitted well into the environment. Dinner was great, and wine selection, although small, was very nice.

Our cottage was comfortable and warm. The meal at the hotel was very good. The boat cruise on Arcadia II up the Pieman River was exceptional. Thank you Matthew and Gaye

Beautiful location. The accommodation was wonderful, the beds were comfy, the cabins clean and well equipped. We loved our dinner at the Tannin Restaurant and happy hour - great opportunity to meet staff and other travelers. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. No mobile service ... perfect for a relaxing stay.

Unfortunately there were fires close by so alot of smoke in the air but obviously that's nature! Also just wished we had planned a longer stay

A gorgeous historic village tucked away on the west coast. Kayaking the river was a fantastic experience. Staff were lovely and food in the restaurant was awesome. No internet service which is great, get off your phone people!

Such an interesting location, cabin was really sweet and comfortable and great to be able to stay right in the village. Lots of great walks and cruises to do at the property and the restaurant had good food. All the staff were polite and helpful.

Not much really be aware you can’t use things with heating elements though (no hair dryers/toasters etc) but was fun to use the camping gear provided to make toast on the gas stove.

The staff are wonderful. Our house was very clean, spacious, and decorated nicely. The beds were comfortable, and we all had a great sleep as it was beautiful and quiet. The walks in the area were also great

Carpark was not at our door despite this being the only way to get to Corrina

    9ChrisPosted on: 12-27-2024

Staff were brilliant, friendly and cheerful, nothing too much trouble. It's a pleasure to find somewhere where the main objective is to make you feel relaxed and comfortable.
