    Pros +

    • We booked the self-contained cottage that is located adjacent to the hotel. The hotel was closed for the season so we sadly did not get to see the library, dining room, bar etc. But the cottage was excellent - large, very comfortably furnished with a wood burning fire place that I think is used in the colder months, clean and with a comfortable bed. There is a great view over the surrounding hills and the centre of the small town is only a couple of minutes walk away. The cottage is heated, which was appreciated as the temperature dropped to 4 degrees C overnight. We were there to walk and there are many excellent walking opportunities in the area. The nearby Parador (7 min drive way) provides the opportunity for finer dining if desired, although we cooked our own meals in the well provided kitchen. A great place to stay.
    • It's part of a gorgeous property with a lovely garden. The flat is well-organised. The fireplace worked really well, as did the (underfloor!) heating. It was nice to hang out in the afternoon and evening by the fire. The bed was quite small but comfy.
    • This is a self-contained hideaway in a beautiful part of Spain. The annex is really comfortable and relaxing after a day's walking and the welcome is warm. And the view is wonderful. We loved it but it might not be for everyone: the area is isolated and there are limited options for food and shopping nearby. This is obviously not a negative about the accommodation but we would have benefited from taking some more supplies.

    Cons -

    • The sewage smell in the windowless bathroom (which also had no ventilation). This is a common problem in Spanish hotels. Some people may not be so sensitive to this but I was - I ended up brushing my teeth in the kitchen! Other than this, the breakfast might not be to everyone's taste - it consisted of cold cuts (the ham, however, was excellent!) and industrial sliced cheese, some mandarines and a plum, yoghurt, orange juice, milk, dryish bread and industrial pastries. Perhaps it might be a good idea if the property enquired with the guests ahead of time as to what they would like - we ate very little of it and ended up buying our own stuff.
    • The bedroom was small and the bed very hard. The path from the main building to the cabin was through grass and sometimes was a dirt path. The outside area looked poorly maintained.

The suite is actually a cabin to the side of the main building, which was a surprise. The cabin has a spacious living room with a comfortable couch and chair. There are screens on two of the windows to allow air flow without flies coming in. Dana met us at the property to give us the keys and was very helpful with explaining where the tourist information center was and recommending restaurants. She left breakfast food supplies in the refrigerator and replenished them when requested.

The bedroom was small and the bed very hard. The path from the main building to the cabin was through grass and sometimes was a dirt path. The outside area looked poorly maintained.
