Pros +
- The location was amazing, in the middle of nature and the view was stunning. It was a bit sad to see the wildfires affected this area.
- The facilities and the location are very good, amazing views. The room was quite basic—two beds with minimal amenities. The beds could use better care in terms of bed linen quality and presentation, and the lack of headboards made the room feel unfinished. Overall, the decor was a bit dated and could benefit from a refresh to create a more comfortable and upscale atmosphere. The bathroom also lacked some expected essentials
- The location was awesome
Cons -
- The staff wasn’t very welcoming and we didn’t feel like they were there to help us. Every time a question was asked we were met with disapproval. Also paying for accessing some facilities for a 4 star hotel didn’t make sense.
- There was 3 hours internet connection problem. There were no slipper in the room and when we asked they told us to get it from SPA next day
- The spa. Small, a bit outdated and needs maintenance. Loose rusty screws on the floor next to the swimming pool, buttons of the shower falling off. Showers are cold, dressing room showers need a complete update, shower heads broken, the floor is damaged, doors are broken. Also no space to dress/change the kids. A small bench would be sufficient.

We had the mountain house. Awesome view. Nice deck, jaccuzu, good beds, rooms, showers. The staff from the restaurant was super friendly.

A zona exterior do hotel com as vistas lindíssimas
O tratamento no pequeno almoço, pouca empatia/simpatia com o staff
The location is perfect, surrounded by hills and with a view to the river. It offers the perfect nature getaway with comfort. The spa has two swimming pools, one adults only. The room was spotless and the cleaning team, restaurant staff and receptionists were exceptional. The breakfast was also very good from fresh fruits and bread, to good Portuguese cheese, and some homemade cakes and cookies. Also English breakfast available. The exterior playground was maintained and had a sand box. My only suggestion would be a room for children to play.
Nothing to point out.
The view and the remote location were two of the primary reasons for us picking the hotel and we were not disappointed at all. We stayed in one of the mountain cabins which was brilliant for us (a family of 5).
We had a few language issues which gave us an unfortunate event at the outdoor pool. Luckily it was cleared with some other staff the next day. The staff in the bar were very friendly, but also a bit slow with both food and drinks.
superb location, view on the mountains, quiet, very well-kept garden with flowerswell-equipped hotel: spa, indoor and outdoor pools, bar, restaurant, snooker table we booked the suite: large space, terrace with view, king-size bed
The communal facilities are not as well maintained as the garden: the pool is full of missing mosaic tiles, the deckchairs are outdated, I stepped on a huge tuft of hair in the swimming pool.Value for money not up to scratch for a 240€/night suite: - no towels for use of deckchairs and private spa. when you come to the reception desk, it seems perfectly normal and we were told to use the towels in the shower.- shower seals full of mold, especially in the private spa.- billiards at €5/hour not a lot, but then again €240/night may well include these costs.Generally unhelpful staff: if you want to dine out, you have to make a reservation. We meet up for dinner at 7pm and are sent our starter, main course and dessert in 1 hour. Not even time for sauces. The next day, if you want a snack, you'll also need 1 hour to get a club sandwich... The gardener starts mowing at 7 a.m., which is a bit early when you come to the hotel to rest...In short, it's not a bad experience, but these details add up to a less-than-stellar stay. All this without any compensation after discussing it at check-out.
The view is astonishing and the staff is very friendly. The beds are comfortable and the house was very clean.
There is a lack of entertainment for children; apart from the swimming pool, there is nothing else for kids. The bar kitchen closes at 6:30 PM, and the restaurant does not have enough capacity to accommodate all guests, forcing you to leave the hotel to eat. The rooms have old blankets instead of duvets, and there is a lack of clear information about the facility's rules. For example, you need a swimming cap for the indoor pool and jacuzzi, but you only find this out upon arrival at the hotel.
We liked the view, pools and gardens. My wife did some small hikes, and I enjoyed using the gym facilities. Our children enjoyed the pools very much.
Breakfast is a bit of standard continental.breakfast buffet. No option to order something like an omelet or fried egg. Be early at the pool with your towel to secure your favorite spot.
The view, the mountains, the architecture - made for views in every direction for every room. The pools were great.
The food needs an upgrade to a greener, healthier diet with more whole grain products to address modern families. It is pretty good as it is. But needs upgrade to get a recommendation on that part. There were loads of ants in one of our rooms.Could be nice with more English speaking staff. We had some bad confusions because of this. The deal with the bath towels was strange. The whole having to deposit cash or passports and giving the towels back at 8…. We wanted soundproof rooms. But we could hear everything from people passing our doors.
Lovely views, good food, very clean
Horrible pillows. Asked for replacements but none were available. Room smelled moldy
Rooms, location, restaurant
The setting, the facilities, the bed and darkness at night and the meals
The complicated route thru elevators and stairs to get between levels.
Grounds and trails are beautiful. View was amazing. Lady who checked us in was very nice steak sandwich. The first night was very good. Bed was OK. Anything else was good the mozzarella salad was good. Excellent.
Pool Area was not very nice. Smoking cigarettes and drugs on the next balcony mention you had to keep your window closed and could not enjoy the balcony and the view. Second night steak was horrible disappointment from the first night.
Beautiful property and wish it has been warmer so we could have appreciated it. The location was great for exploring the region. Very good breakfast.
We had to take two elevators to get to/from our room every time, which was annoying (Down two floors from reception, then walk down a hallway to the other elevator to take it another floor down to get to it).
Fantastic location on the top of a hill. Very quiet. Friendly staff.
The landscape is magnific, mountains and rivers surround the hotel. The nearby high mountain of Senhora da Graça offers an impressive 360º view of all the area. The hotel is modern, simple and clean. The 80 sq.m suite is very nice, with a magnific balcony all over the gardens and the pool. The suite private spa is a distinctive and wellcome plus
Most of the hotel staff we interact seemed to have very poor experience in basic customer interactions ; basically, the staff needs an upgrade to be on pair with the hotel level (4*); Dinner menu was not memorable; Breakfast is very basic and short on choices, more like a 3* hotel instead of a 4* as it should.
Not much!
I booked the hotel 3 to 4 weeks in advance and requested a room with twin beds. Theis was not provided! The hotel had been extended and this involved a lot of up and down in lifts in order to reach the room.
Quietness and nature surroundings. Serra do Alvao so close. God taverns in center town
Lack of maintenance. Not prepared for winter days. Cold enough with no proper heating. Air conditioning was working ok. Wooden paths within the hotel, needing some varnish long year ago.In summer the SPA might be nice to use.
