The hotel is conveniently located when you travel to south of Croatia. The beds were comfy, room was clean and quiet. We've had a dinner in a hotel restaurant when we arrived - the food was delicious and reasonably priced. The breakfast was good.

I liked everything - This is a beautiful old building that has recently been completely renovated. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the staff is really nice. There’s also a nice restaurant and a beautiful backyard. Excellent value for the price! We will be back!

Very loud and low effective climatization. Room and bathroom need renovation.

The room and the hot tub were amazing. The terrace spacious and everything was clean. Lunch and supper were above my expectations, service as well.

The breakfast was a little bit dissapointing considering it's a 4 star hotel. I was expecting a larger offer of foods. Also, the mini bar in the room is very noisy.

Very loud annoying music in the bar and in the restaurant. Difficult to fall asleep as you could hear the music in the room. Breakfast was not very good, a la carte no buffet. Limited choice available or not proposed. There were insects in the room.

The staff was very friendly and this charming heritage hotel offers unique gourmet experience in luxurious and cosy interior telling the story of the Gjalski family. Our family of five enjoyed stay and looking forward to come back!

Very good accommodation. Repeated stay. Highly recommended. Nice old building (historical curia / castle) but renovated in modern style with all necessary modern equipment (climatization, wifi). Even if the temperature outside was 38 °C, inside was climatization at around 23 °C what allow us to feel very comfortable. It is a protected cultural property (heritage) what allows you during stay to forgot all the worries of everyday life. The personal is very polite. The foot in the restaurant is very tasty.

Only think what I have to critise it that the portion of food in the restorant are too big. :-) That's a pity to throw away so delicious food just because you are full. :-(

Good place to start explore Zagorje.Restaurant is good and the breakfast was fine.Great patio for the coffee.

Air conditioner didn’t work for all duration of our stay and if you have bedroom on the patio side it is too warm even in May. Also most nights it was too loud outside to sleep with open windows. The receptionist have said on the first day of our stay that they will turn on air conditioning for the whole hotel in the next two days, but it did not happen for the whole of our 5-night stay.

Very nice and cosy small Hotel with lots of history . I think it was recently updated, and congrats to decorators who done a marvellous job in styling the place...very tasteful and pleasant. Staff are very professional, and as I noticed, they speak multiple languages. Definitely perfect english and german.

Breakfast was great! As was the man who served us! Like all people there; só friendly and informative!The hotel was sublime and the room and bed were perfect! The room was a little small at the bedsides, but beautiful!

A clean, stylish hotel dedicated to the memory of a Croatian writer. Nice rooms, good cuisine.

Rather luxurious interior you wouldn't expect at this price point. Very nice bathrooms. The restaurant is great, and the terrace is beautiful. The hallway is full of witty captions describing the live of the famous Croatian writer and his family who used to live here. If you're looking for a place to stay somewhere around this area, I would recommend the hotel despite some flaws.

The person at the reception was rather unprofessional while we checked in and made us feel unwelcome - this feeling followed us a bit throughout the stay which is a pity since the rest of the staff were friendly and professional, thankfully. Another weird thing is the restaurant receipt - if you want to put the bill on the room, it doesn't show the item prices, so you're supposed to sign it without knowing how much you're expected to pay. The food was luckily amazing and the prices turned out to be OK for us but they should fix this, or maybe provide a menu list first. The air conditioning in the rooms is quite weak, as others have pointed out.. and for some reason I can not understand, they play rather loud and annoying pop music all day long on an otherwise very quiet and pleasant terrace...

Lovely atmosphere staying in an old castle, retaining the old 'family' charm. Room was very good size with high ceilings and a lovely bathroom. Free parking a plus, and really nice breakfast in the traditional dining room.

Not necessarily a 'dislike' but our room was at the top floor, so no large window... just a small window in the ceiling. We were informed of this at check-in but really didn't mind for one night stay.
