Incredible location within the walled city. With serene and beautiful views. We walked the perimeter of the walled city and liked the location of the hotel which is near stores and restaurants.

The location inside the walled city was unbeatable, easy walk to shops and restaurants. The views from this pousada are amazingly beautiful. The staff could not be nicer, helpful, friendly, and dedicated to pleasing the guests. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom had a tub/shower combo, nice vanity, toilet, and bidet.

The facility is in desperate need of some renovations and love. It was apparently built in the 1950's or 60's, and it shows. The air conditioning was inefficient. It took 24 hours to finally cool the room to an acceptable maybe 24° C., while the thermostat was set at 16°. Luckily, the first night was extremely windy, so we slept with the balcony door open for a while. The hair dryer is an ugly, clunky box with a hose reminiscent of that on a vacuum cleaner, and was repaired with tape. Given the nightly rate and the name Pestana with a reputation to uphold, I thought it extremely disappointing.

The location and the view from the balcony room was fantastic. Staying within the old walled city was a treat as we got to experience walking about in the quiet evening. The view was fabulous. I found the room to be smaller than expected and the balcony a bit basic and dusty for a high-end hotel. The staff were all kind and helpful. We stayed two nights to enjoy a day break during our Camino.

Big room with views of river. Very helpful and friendly staff. Being in the fort and on Camino. Great breakfast.

No tea or coffee facilities in room.

    Location, kind, attentive/efficient staff

No F&B or bar or room service in the evening, do not disturb signs etc

The staff very friendly and helpful, the views, ambience, the food was excellent!

    Great location.

Drive through large crowds of tourists to get to hotel. Super dated. Everything in and around the hotel closes early. We were told Tui is more actives.

Large comfortable room with great view, great location, good breakfast.

This hotel is dated, things were chipped and scratched. For the price we expect better upkeep.

This was a fabulous place to stay. Friends who have walked the Camino recommended staying in Valenca instead of Tui and they were right. The pousada was inside a fortress overlooking the Minho River and our room had a gorgeous view. Very nice communal areas downstairs, a lovely patio right on the edge of the fortress walls, and a quaint but modernly appointed room. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. In the morning we got up early for the luggage service, as Portugal is one hour behind Spain. Sun was rising over the fortress walls so we had a beautiful view while the concierge hustled to make us coffee and croissants since we couldn’t stay for the general breakfast.

    Liked it all

This place is absolutely a "DO NOT MISS". Even if only for the view, you will not regret it. Bom Caminho!

A brilliant location with magnificent views from our balcony. The service was first class. Dinner and breakfast were both very good.

There was nothing we disliked at the Poussada

    6ValeriePosted on: 7-2-2024

The views and location are excellent .

The desk staff were uninformed about tinned of masses for pilgrims . This is unacceptable as the hotel is on the pilgrimage trail . We were not briefed on places to go and things to see on arrival . No coffee tea making equipment in the bedroom . The bed was on old fashioned springs could have been bigger . Tv didn’t work .

    5AnthonyPosted on: 6-20-2024

    The location within the fortress

Poor maintenance. No bedside sockets for charging mobiles, safe didn’t work, nor did bathroom ventilator and razor socket. Musty smell in room. Lots of dust under the bed. Had run out of black teabags at breakfast. Not what we would expect from a Pestana hotel.

Wonderful location with a fantastic view of Tui Spain! Very good breakfast and super friendly staff.

We had one of the best rooms, upstairs with a large balcony overlooking the river and Tui. Large room with a wall of windows, excellent views. Very comfortable. Very good breakfast, very attentive staff.Great to be inside the castle walls at night when everyone else has gone. Driving inside the castle to the hotel was fun, too.
