Pros +
- It`s a very picturesque location and the owners are very nice. The rooms have everything even a fridge and a kettle.
- Friendly owner family. Hard times in the draining village.
- It lies close to the trail to Psiloritis and within short driving distance to a few beautiful gorges
Cons -
- The bathroom could do with an update. It you are looking for luxury it is not a place for you. But if don't, I would definetly recommend it.
- Barking dogs through all night were very disturbing
- When I arrived, I was welcomed with “What do you want?”. When I said I wanted to check in, the owner proceeded to arguing with his wife as to who should show me to my room. So much for Cretan hospitality. The rooms were not at the address given in the description (usually a red flag). The owner (who lost the argument) asked me questions about myself but his English wasn’t sufficient to understand the answers so he second-guessed me by answering his questions with his own assumptions. I enquired about the kitchenette, which was in the description, he said he didn’t know but would ask his wife and message me. Never happened. I brought food to cook but obviously couldn’t use it. The room has a table and some kitchenware, but no chair so there’s no way to sit down to eat.

Beautiful quiet little village, proper crete out of the way of tourists. The hotel was lovely, amazing views from the window, comfortable, aircon, clean etc. Would recommend. Delicious food at the restaurant.
Shower was a bit small
I liked that the terrace had a 360• view of the mountains and that there was a kitchen included in the room. The food was very good in the restaurant.
The description of the place said there was AC in the room but there wasn’t. Also the “garden view “ was the view of the walls and the shared cemented space of the building. Coffee wasn’t included in the breakfast and we had to pay extra which wasn’t mentioned. None of the owners really spoke English.
Windy place is windy. Hosts are cool. The hotel has a cute cool rustic rest place in front of it, where you can sit and chill, have a drink or just relax. Nice restaurant in the town belonging to them. Good location for those wanting peace and some trails to hike. Rent a car.
Clean room, warm water and friendly owner. The key needs to be picked up at the taverna and then going back uphill to the actual accommodation. Parking in front of the house, easy. Bfast was standard, cafe, egg, jam and bread.
NA
The room was large. With a good kitchen, well provided. Very nice welcome. The restaurant was very good,
The rooms are on a distance from the restaurant. The photos are a bit disseptive, of the restaurant. The room was a bit run down. No view at all, certainly no mountain viewThe price very reasonable. Worth it.
The location is surrounded by mountains with excellent views. The Taverna has a lovely terrace and the local food served is of very good quality, especially the breakfast with eggs from the owner's hens.
The room and Taverna are separate but this did not cause any major inconvenience.
Iannis and Dina were wonderful hosts. The room was great with a view of the mountains, ideally located.Dina cooked a great meals and Iannis was very generous with sharing his knowledge and love of the Psiloritis and Fourfouras.
Very cheap for what it is. Basic but clean and great location for me. Big room. Breakfast available but basic again but i couldnt have asked for more
Nothing. It was perfect for my needs. Maybe a little noisy but a road outside so what can you do
We had a very pleasant stay. The room was spotlessly clean, and the beds were perfectly comfortable. The kitchenette had all the necessary things, and the room opened onto a shared courtyard with a beautiful potted garden. Shower had good water pressure. The host is very hospitable. Please be aware that this is a Greek village hotel, not a resort— it is a clean, comfortable, slightly old-fashioned, and well-priced stay in an absolutely beautiful village in one of the most beautiful regions of Crete. If this is what you are looking for, you will be very happy with your choice. By the way, Greek friends told us about this place, so it gets a thumbs-up from the locals as well!
Our room did not have A/C though other rooms do. Be sure to double-check with the owner if this is important to you. We found we did not need it.
The couple in charge of this place are incredibly nice and accomadating. The food is cooked at your request, at almost any time you'd like. It's delicious and an amazing price per meal. They even went above and beyond to give me directions for hiking mount ida and packing me a lunch to take
Sweet room with cute decor and good hot water in the bathroom. The family that owns the place is very kind and Iannis helped me a lot with tips on the E4 hike. I had a nice stay here, would book again.
All was good! One thing to note, do not go directly to the room’s address (Google maps) but stop earlier in the road as soon as you meet the Windy Place taverna. That is where you will do the check-in.
Our ensuite room had everything we needed, including a fridge, kettle and small selection of crockery and cutlery. The views over the town and mountains was stunning, and the apartment block (which is separate to the taverna, about 5mins walk away) was in a central but very quiet location. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful and the food they provide at the taverna is delicious, and you get a lot for your money!
The ensuite bathroom was quite small but perfectly serviceable for a few days, and very clean.
Staff is friendly and flexible, I booked the room late and they opened the hotel.Dinner and breakfast was delicious
Everything looks a bit cheapThe overall price was relatively high a bit
Wonderful location, what a view of Mt Ida. Quiet street, no traffic issues /noise.
Loves the staff working there and the village it's located in. Very homey and welcoming. The shower is wicked small but you're in Greece in a village. Laugh at it :)
Don't think there was wifi in the room. Small issue. There is still wifi at the restaurant there and it's only a 3 minute walk.
Nice owners, family management. Good location for hiking. Stayed in a room with a large and convenient kitchen. Advice to visitors: check-in at the Windy Taverna down below the village, not the "Rent rooms" shown by the geographic coordinates, as there are no-one there.
Always trying to be positive in my comments, but also honest, and I must say that the room wasn't very clean, dusty shelves and nightstands, trash bins still partly full from previous visitors. The accomodations in Crete have greatly improved, and I have seen many (have been in Crete 6 times) and there are usually cleaner than that. Maybe a slight mixup in the organization, I can accept that... A better care would improve the grading of the place (lower than 8 at the time of this comment). Good luck and maybe see you next time!
Super friendly staff, they made me feel at home.I had some nice chats with the owners.Authentic Food was excellent
