Pros +
- Impecable premises; super friendly staff; outstanding food.
- exceptional staff, professional, friendly, and remembered me and my preferences from a prior visit.
- this is a small property, but well equipped. The friendly and helpful staff really make the experience special. All of the meals were lovely and prepared with care.
Cons -
- It’s important to note that access to the hotel is a bit challenging, with very narrow paths, so it’s recommended to arrive with a small car to make driving easier
- Some amenities are somewhat unecessary and feel like afterthought or just checkmarks, sacrificing a feeling of cosiness for crampedness in a small package.
- Small points of things we did like are firstly that they didn't quite know how to prepare good poached eggs when requested! Dinner was very nice although I would argue is slightly overpriced for what you can, the main of lamb was nice but you can eat better in the restaurants around the area. When we went, the indoor pools have slightly broken tiles where the water line meets the edge of the pool, BEWARE as those small broken tiles are razor sharp and I cut myself when placing my hands on there when swimming. We informed the staff and they were aware of it and although someone else had cut themselves before also, they said they are planning on fixing it but surprisingly they never thought of putting a warning sign despite this having happened on multiple occasions. Not a good look for a health and wellness spa, I hope they fix it soon or place a sign as although these are small negatives for me, others may want to be aware of this.

The hotel is extremely clean and offers a level of service that is hard to find elsewhere. The facilities are simply outstanding – a wonderful heated pool, relaxing saunas, and a cozy relaxation room. The food is of very high quality, with precise attention to every guest request – we truly felt that every detail in the menu and service was respected. The hotel’s location is magical and unique, nestled in the heart of nature, quiet and peaceful – perfect for anyone looking to escape the city and recharge. The staff’s service mindset is at the highest level – professional, courteous and perfect, always ready to assist and ensure everything is flawless.

Everything was perfect. It was all very clean, beautiful fantastic view. I have celiac thus thus gluten intolerant they adapted the food so I could eat the same as my partner. It was all delicious.
The incredible staff, always trying to make us feel like home (and they made it!). The view, the delicious breakfast. We booked a massage and it was awsome!
The location is exceptional. The staff is delightful and kind. The decoration is tasstfull and integrates perfectly with the setting.

Breakfast is not buffet but includes everything you would normally ask for in a buffet (this is done to prevent food waste which I agree is a good move, you can ask for as much more as you like), the items on breakfast were very good quality too. The dinner menu was very good. The staff are extremely accommodating to pets, we brought our two dogs and we were treated very well. The surrounding area has a lot of routes for exploring which are off-roads, perfect for exploring with canine companions, the hotel itself is an excellent base camp for visiting most of the areas of interest in Serra da Estrela. What we found amazing are the natural waterfalls within the hotel; a tip if you enjoy bracing the cold is go to the sauna and then enjoy the waterfall shower!

The best staff we’ve ever experienced, super pro and friendly! The location is amazing, you can have a stroll to the beautiful forest through the lovely village and a river, and the path is good for little kids. Perfectly quiet place, beautiful surroundings (the waterfall ?), delicious food, great spa. Want to be back!
Super slippery floor in the spa area, it’s pretty dangerous especially with little ones
From the exceptional welcome by Nuno, the facilities, the friendly staff…. We just love it here but don’t tell anyone else! We also loved the cat ?- so friendly and lovely to see the pets. Exceptional design, spa really sweet and food wonderful. We enjoyed a walk too and the village locals are sweet. Could easily stay here 3 nights getting away from it all… chill out central.
We are completely amazed by this hotel! A real 5 star service and it’s the case when you even feel you are getting more than what you paid for! The place is located in the old village completely integrated in the landscape and even got a waterfall right in the hotel borders! All the food is local and fresh. Additional plus is the spa area that you book only for yourself, in our opinion it was priceless and make you feel like a real VIP guest. Our dog also got a special treatment and gifts. We will come back many many times!
Only that the stay was too short ? could stay a full month in this place
The staff is very frindly and hosting, I felt like I was a guest that had been waited. Hotel administration truly values your stay and comfort and offers room upgrade when they have spare. It is also notable in every detail. Feela like all hotel, service and atmosphere is a guest oriented. The hoter exterior and interior design is decent and minimalistic, made with nature materials and colors, that helps you to relax from eye pollution. The restaurant service and food are great and delicious, I even tried currant (which I haven't been able to find for a long time). Moreover, the location is perfect: you live in a small village in 5star hotel observing picturesque viewes and having beautiful hiking trails nereby.
We, a family of 3, just finished our stay at Casas da Lapa. All of us enjoyed every second of our stay: from check in to the last moment of check out. The property is located in a marvelous, founded at medieval times, village. It is a tiny and super tranquil place to walk along numerous routes, meditate, breathe clean air, swim at mountain river beaches (very cold, clean and super refreshing waters at nearby praia fluvial, highly recommend!). The hotel is wonderful, and consists of renovated old houses and a newly built block. We enjoyed a lot 2 outdoor swimming pools, small but cosy spa, library and a cinema room. We stayed in room #2 which boasts a great view over the valley. During our stay, in order to meet an emergency need of one of the guests, we were asked to move to room #3, which bigger in size and in fact suited us, as a family, even more, although does not have such a great view and privacy. The hotel is very pet friendly, all staff is absolutely helping and welcoming. Food: breakfast and lunches are super filling and tasty. Dinner: a set menu concept with a selection of wines. Quality and taste of dishes is top notch. The only wish is that I would personally like to have a bigger size of portions at dinner (at least for main dish) and a bit earlier time of start of the dinner (at least at 19:30). Hotel also offers red and sparkling wines of its own production (vinhais do Sabarro) - excellent quality and taste. We especially liked the red one, very thin in palate and aroma, somewhat of Valpolicella from Italy. We highly recommend this property to solo, couple and family travelers. Hotel and its amenities are perfect and the village is magnificent. Local people are friendly and welcoming, always greeting you at the street. If you are looking for a perfect getaway from noise, buzz and fuss of city-style life to clear up your mind, to think, to enjoy nature, sunsets, along with comfort, service and great food - this place is for you!
Nothing to dislike. Perfection in almost every moment!
The staff facility care food amenities were all exceptionalIt's such a pleasure to rate this extraordinary place where we stayed for 3 nights .The room itself was immaculate and super comfortable. The facilities is in great standard, very well equipped and pleasantI had a back injury and hence was stranded in the room , the owner Maria-Manuel has personally taken me to the hospital and took great care of me during the process including helping me get medications, and the staff bringing food to the room and taking care of all our needs in a very gentle kind and friendly manner.Later when we looked for an easily accessible shower the owner upgraded us to a suite that has an accessible shower.I couldn't even dream of such a caring and compassionate service? The staff was super accommodating and friendly and the rest of the amenities were gorgeousIn spite of our circumstances we genuinely enjoyed this hotel's extraordinary hospitality and warmth.?Thank you !
Nothing , we loved everything
Breathtaking views from our room to the Serra... quietude... good breakfast from 9am on with no time limit, the possibility to have privacy when using indoor swimming pool and sauna (reservation based), the friendliness and promptness of the staff, offering late check-out, great restaurant with delicious food, regionally sourced - lovely design of the hotel
the big windows in the indoor pool area were dirty, the plants there dry; as breakfast is not buffet style, would help to get information about the options available.Only after having finished did we learn that they also serve espresso coffee and natural yogurt... Lighting in the restaurant was poor (we asked for a table light but they didn't have enough for all tables)
Quiet and peaceful location. Service was very friendly and the staff did everything to make sure we have a seamless and relaxing time. If we wanted a late lunch on the terrace, no problem. Dinner was excellent and a real treat.
A perfect relaxing wellness getaway. From arrival we were greeted with a warm reception. They went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable and relaxed. Surrounded by beautiful nature and close to magical swimming river swimming holes (river beaches).
We liked everything from the room to the facilities and location. The staff were super friendly, efficient and very helpful. We reallly loved the area and the tranquility of the hotel location. We will be back .
We loved everything.
Located in a village on a steep hillside on the edge of the Estrela National Park.
Directions for the final km to the hotel could be clearer and perhaps a downloadable sketch map put on the website.
It was very quite, private and peaceful.
There were no dislikes. Everything was very good.
