Pros +
- The hotel is a nice historic old building, my room was a single and fairly basic but comfortable. The breakfast is really great, lots of local products and the breads are so fresh and nice. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Dinner in their restaurant is very recommended.
- Beautiful premises (except for our shabby room and the depressing breakfast area). full of history. A very decent restaurant. Overall friendly staff (not everyone speaks english). Excellent location between Splügen and San Bernardino passes. Although that goes hand in hand with hand with s lot of traffic noise coming from the highway.
- Central location with good parking. Nice terrace for drinks etc, lovely views from the room and a good restaurant. Friendly staff.
Cons -
- A few more pillows in the single rooms so you can sit comfortably in the bed. Just one pillow made it impossible to sit up in the bed to read or watch TV.
- Rooms are very outdated. We were first offered a very smelly (sewer?) room, but the next room smelled alright. However, it had fungus in the bathroom. See picture. We booked a standard double. According to booking.com it comes with a walk-in shower AND a bath. The smelly room only had a bath, the other one only a shower. The promised ‘garden view’ turned out to be a narrow alley. See picture. We expected much more, also given the overall state of of the premises.
- Thin curtains were so thin we woke up early as we couldn’t shut the shutters. The swimming pool wasn’t operational.

Breakfast ok but Not as good as the best. Location fantastic. Restaurant was very good
Nothing of note
the restaurant was good
the Spa was not working and we were not informed about that before arriving. we had an old room with low ceiling
Very friendly staff, cozy village (do not skip a short morning walk uphill) and good food.Excellent breakfast.
The building itself was fabulous. the restaurant very good and cosy
Used to sleeping in the dark with shutters on bedroom windows, it was a very early wake up with the sun coming through ordinary curtains.
The situation for cycling the Splügen pass is incomparable!!The welcome, the check-in was friendly and seamless. The room spacious and comfortable…No ‘frills’ i.e. no tea making facilities, no hairdryer… only hand soap and shampoo dispenser in shower..The sauna and pool are excellent for a hotel of this size… and they even kept it on for us as we missed out (due to Covid restrictions on allowing only 2 in the sauna at a time)
Location is stunning. Also a very convenient stop for travelling. Staff are very good.
Wish I had known the tunnel was closed in the evening so that I could have gotten there in time to enjoy the hotel!
Amazing hotel and place. I went to Splugen on the Christmas day to escape Italy, since our dictator Mr. Conte decided that we were not even allowed to go out from home. Switzerland in general and this hotel in particular were very welcoming and, even respecting all the covid related regulations, I was able to breath some fresh air of normality and skiing. I will definitely come back again.
Everything was perfect. Coming back to Italy was the only thing I disliked.
