    Pros +

    • Excellent hotel in beautiful small town. Very comfortable, quiet. Excellent dinner and breakfast.
    • Lovely location and good room size.
    • This was our third visit and we were not disappointed. With comfortable beds, excellent food and friendly helpful staff what more could we ask for? Love the new stair carpet. As always we enjoyed walking around the village and along the river bank.

    Cons -

    • No tea/coffee making facilities.
    • We are being super critical here - perhaps a lick of paint here and there wouldn't go amiss. The bread was not of the best.
    • We thought our meal was a disappointment. We tried the 70 euro tasting menu but the main course was very poor and something not replicated at all on the main menu. I would advise choosing from the à la carte menu. On the positive side the wine list was excellent and well priced. The breakfast was awful and the staff incapable of producing hot coffee or warm milk. We were not offered any warm breakfast food or eggs.

We had booked a superior room which was really spacious and comfortable.

A good experience and welcoming atmosphere. The receptionist was excellent, booking us a table in a restaurant in Sable, which was also excellent. Will visit again.

We really enjoyed our stay, we were only there for one night, on route to Calais. We had a delicious dinner in the restaurant, I would highly recommend the food. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

there was nothing to dislike very comfortable beds and delicious breakfast

unfortunately no dinner served on Sundays so they arranged for us somewhere else. Even the chef’s allowed a night off!! which is understandable

The hotel is located near the Abbey and a beautiful stretch of the river Sarthe. The staff were very attentive and friendly. We had an excellent evening meal and a breakfast with everything you could wish for. The hotel has every comfort and our stay was a treat for three generations of the family.

Great location, not in a busy town so easy for travellers to find. secure parking. very clean and comfortable room and good service.

The location was in a beautiful village with a Priory opposite which welcomes the public. Very near the river there are beautiful walks along the banks of the river Sarthe. Easy parking at the back of the hotel. A nice shady garden where you can have drinks. The breakfast was very nice with lovely bread and viennoiseries. I have special oat milk and they kindly heated it up for me.

I stayed on a Sunday night. Sadly the gourmet restaurant is closed on a Sunday. There really were very few alternatives nearby so I brought food and ate in my room.

Breakfast was fine but not included in the original booking. The location is fantastic in terms of proximity to the Abbey where we wanted to hear the monks perform Gregorian chant. Did not realize that the river valley and towns were so beautiful before our arrival. Very accessible parking with good security gate.

Unfortunately the restaurant was closed due to seasonal and staffing issues. The remaining employees prepared simple cold meals in the evening as an alternative. This was very good and much appreciated.

This is a wonderful hotel that we have been using for 28 years - it’s the start of our French holiday. The essence of the hotel stays the we same - quiet location, calm ambience, excellent food, lovely staff.

good location and comfortable hotel with excellent restaurant

no tea and coffee facilities in room

We really liked this hotel using it as a base for Le Mans. Staff are superb, pleasant airy room looking out on to the garden. Breakfast were very good with a great choice but then you are paying for it. The rooms are perhaps getting a little dated now in their styling but I'm being picky.

It was perhaps disapointing that the restaurant was closed even for eg table d'hote on the Sunday.

    9KimmPosted on: 6-11-2022

Room was very comfortable and we could hear chanting in the evening - wonderful.Restaurant was excellent.

    8ClivePosted on: 6-7-2022

    Very good

No tea or coffee making in the room, ordered a drink in the restaurant didn’t receive it but it was on our bill, we had the drink removed before paying the bill.

Beautifully appointed. Extremely comfortable bed and bedding. First class restaurant.

    10RichardPosted on: 4-11-2022

Lovely, bright, airy, clean bedrooms with small balconies overlooking the gardens.

    7KazukoPosted on: 10-20-2021

The location was very good. just opposite to Abbey. They have an excellent restaurant in the hotel but very reasonable. The patio is very charming. They have a private parking behind. Breakfast was also good. Although it was buffer, their consideration for hygiene was perfect during this Covid 19 period. It was also nice that freshly made coffee was served in pot.

Amenities in the room are minimum. There was no slippers, no laundry bag,

As said in many reviews, the hotel faces the massive Abbaye of Solesmes. The location is probably the best in the area, we preferred staying there for the night than in Sablé sur Sarthe. It's a little village so the room and the night were quiet. The staff were welcoming, helpful and the hotel has its own gastronomic restaurant. We didn't have diner but the breakfast was really good. The double room was cleaned and big enough. We stayed just a night and had a great time with the locals at the bar next door.

Nothing to complain really, only that, by seeing the lobby, front desk and the restaurant, I was expected a higher standard for the room. It was just a classic double room.
