Superb breakfast, personal attention and great location

It is like you travel back in time, in a good way. Everything was authentic, honest and good value. The way the hotel is manned is exceptional. Elisabeth our host and her husband were amazing. We really appreciated them translating the printed menu in German to English using an IPAD and Google translate, a blend of modern technology with the rural atmosphere of the hotel. We also appreciated that they hosted us in the 30th December dinner, which was a festivity for the local farmers. Remarkable experience with a memorable 5-course meal including entertainment by a local brass-band. Thanks also to the original owners, the lady took great care of us, the husband (and son) drove us from and to the airport! My son liked the hot chocolate served in the metal can, we never saw that anywhere. The packed lunch before the 2.5h drive on our last day and the breakfast that was served especially for us at 5.30am was the cherry on the cake, thanks Elisabeth and mother-in-law. Finally, Schwanberg is a cute peaceful little town ideal for walks. We were there for a chess tournament that my son participated in. The hotel owners were very supportive given the erratic (inconsistent) times at which games finished, at one point they served as lunch at 3pm when the restaurant was supposed to be closed. We so recommend this hotel! Owners of large hotels should visit this hotel so they learn how to treat guests, or perhaps send their managers for training.
