Pros +
- A tidy room, a good breakfast, and fascinating history! The spa was peaceful, and the smoke sauna offered hyvät löylyt. We’ll definitely come again.
- Beautiful nature, interesting history and nice staff.
- Nice clean rooms, good beds. Excellent breakfast.
Cons -
- There were no shops nearby. The cheaper meals at the restaurant weren’t really worth the price.
- Facilities were outdated for example noisy air conditioner and spa pools.
- I would expect some spa/wellness additions in the room e.g. body lotion.

Nice clean rooms, good beds. Excellent breakfast.
Great place to spend the weekend outside of the city hustle. Friendly staff and comfortable beds. This place has its unique story, which we loved. We totally recommend having a dinner at the restaurant there. The food was incredible! Also, we enjoyed the salty room and massage services :)
I would expect some spa/wellness additions in the room e.g. body lotion.
Very nice and relaxing atmosphere.
Visited in winter, room and restaurant should have been 1-2 Celsius degrees warmer.
There are so many positive things that are hard to mention all, starting from the location which is not far but not close to the city, which gives the accommodation the perfect spot for a weekend getaway, If you need to switch off from basic daily life, it is the perfect place to do it.
locationstaffrooms i have been there more than 3 times and different roomsFoodThe pool, saunas, in winter the beautiful snow, in summer time the sound of the river when you sit in the restaurant to enjoy the meal
Room was very spacious, bed was so comfortable, bar and restaurant was great (food was delicious) nice balcony in the room
Spa was nice but a bit outdated. Could do with an upgrade
Good sauna and spa area
No Netflix on tv and bad breakfast
Always a nice place to stay on the way to lapland. Nice spa and a very good breakfast. Supernice staff.
Breakfast bar was pretty good and dinner was excellent. The sauna and patio/hot tub area were nice with new furniture. Surprisingly, they had live music and dancing.
No facial tissue and no washcloths. Facility is older and dated, but appears to be clean and well-maintained. This place is out in the boondocks on a gravel road, but hey, it’s Finland and I would come again.
Room was air-conditioned. Staff was polite. Hotel was clean. Spa was small but ok.
Restaurant was not up to the level of the hotel and spa. Not enough staff, so the service was very slow. Also the food was well over-priced compared to the quality. Don't take the stake. Breakfast was ok.
Fine dining and superb jazz - what a great idea. Spa Hotel Runni is situated next to a meandering river, beautiful location. The "jazz menu" was a delight- 2 starters, a main course of braised salmon and 2 contrasting desserts. The two chefs provided a gourmet experience. Then a wonderful jazz concert by a trio led by the virtuoso, Iiro Rantala. All in all, a perfect evening. Saturday's brunch was also great, the normal hotel breakfast selection complemented by a large selection of cakes - the Sacher cake was perfect. Hopefully, this will be the first of many jazz and fine dining evenings in Runni.

Very nice hotel with spa services that are included in the price. Also got a very good massage with a short notice. Nice exterior and the free use of the healing water. ?
Our weekend trip succeeded beyond expectations. We enjoyed the peaceful ambiance coupled with the Iisalmi Jazz Friday night event with world-class musicians, plus a ballroom Dance Saturday session during our stay. We appreciated the spacious twin room with super comfortable beds, fine dining with exquisite Nordic flavours (compliments to the chef), friendly restaurant staff, relaxation in the rarely found Finnish Smoke Sauna (marvellous experience) and spa. Here, the natural beauty of the river flowing by and the tall trees and forest around us were captured through the windows in every room.Superb.
Hotel room was very quiet. Children's room was nice.
Suite was not cleaned properly. Hair clips on floor. Half used medication (painkillers?) on sofa. Layout of suite felt suited for socialising / partying than being just a larger hotel room. Buffet food quality for price was poor. Check in experience felt unfriendly. Hotel in general need of renovation. Rooms and outside building look tired.
They waited for us for the check in more than 2 hours beyond the usual time.
Service at the restaurant
Excellent breakfast spread and overall very good value for money
We traveled with our cat, and she loved it too
