Pros +
- From start to finish our stay at Chateau Varenne was beyond our expectations. We rented a family room which had two queen size beds, a large bathroom, toilet room, chairs, and lounger. The A/C worked phenomenal each day and night as the temps were over 100deg F during the day. The beds were comfortable and worked for two people. The room was stunning and had so much character as well as the rest of the hotel. The breakfast was a little expensive but so worth the variety of options and the ambience of the setting. The pool was lovely and a great space to cool off on hot days too. We for sure would love to come back and visit again.
- We really enjoyed this authentic French castle located right in the heart of Provence. It is a magical place for us to stay for 3 nights with a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The rooms are elegant; the building is grand; the staff are generous and most welcoming. Breakfast was excellent at a reasonable price. A large beautiful garden surronding the chateau is very nice to walk around and take photos. Emma, Paul, and Woody, thank you for your generous hospitality.
- Beautiful old chateau with really nice, old vibe about it. Ground is so spacious, designed with such old village charm and well maintained. At the end of the day you can relax in great pool or hang out in the garden. There are a few small villages, that are just a 10-15 min away, with a few restaurants with really friendly people.
Cons -
- The only negative was we had a yellow jacket problem two of our days during the breakfast time. They would swarm the table and one of us got stung during one morning. They did hire someone to remove the problem after the second day of the issue. It would also be nice if there was a walkable grocery store or more food options in town for lunch or dinner.
- Mosquitos. Bed was a bit firm.
- Nothing really. Everything was just perfect

Loved the amenities, country estate, felt like a house with various common indoor and outdoor spaces. Great outdoor pool.
The pool, the breakfast, staff. Incredible ambiance, historical theme with modern amenities.
Mosquitos. Bed was a bit firm.
It is a gorgeous chateau and so beautifully decorated. The owners Emma and Paul are wonderful.
Nothing really. Everything was just perfect
It was an excellent breakfast in the park, Clean and quiet pool, amazing sunny room.
Beautiful location, nicely renovated, good pool and relaxing atmosphere.
Sadly there is no lift and we had to carry all of our suitcases from the car park to the room, which was on the third floor. As the Chateau has no restaurant for evening meals the atmosphere was for us, too quiet. At times it seemed that we were the only people in the building.
Great location for trips around the area!Amazing scenery in the Chateau, you can really relax and enjoy your vacation. All the personnel were very polite and helpful. Great tips for traveling in the area for wine tasting, food etc
We loved the beautiful Chateau - it is like stepping into a different era. Emma & Paul and the family couldn’t do more to make our stay more enjoyable. We highly recommend Chateau de Varenne!
Nothing!
The Chateau is stunning - the bedrooms are gorgeously designed and spacious, the public rooms are huge with an honesty bar, lots of seating, fun old fashioned games and the outside spaces are beautiful. The service is exceptional - nothing was too much trouble and we were so unbelieveably well looked after. And then theres the gorgeous dog Woody. We travelled with 3 children which can, at times, particularly in French hotels, can be a little stressful. But we were made to feel so at home and the children genuinely welcome. This place really is fabulous.
Beautiful, clean, classy, french style. Lovely breakfast. Wonderful atmosphere
We had a lovely short stay at the Chateau, 2 adults and 2 teens/tweens. The property is stunning and the staff are s
Such a beautiful chateau to stay. The whole atmosphere and garden with swimming pool is wow and very quiet. One of the best places I ever stayed. Very clean and friendly staff.
Nothing. If I have to give a comment than it is only that it is not cheap as breakfast is not included (€22,- p person/day). But I would definitely book this nice chateau again.
This is an extraordinary property, very close to Avignon. The rooms are exceptional, the grounds superb, and the breakfast even better. We also enjoyed the pool. We would like to thank the lovely owners for making our stay unforgettable; they are extremely welcoming and helpful!
Felt like our private little chateau!
Would be lovely to have some hot options for breakfast but honestly it was super for a French breakfast. Lunch and dinner are not available on site…sometimes it would have been nice to stay in in the evenings BUT we did know this was the case before booking and Pendino the Italian in the village was superb!
Chateau de Varenne is the most breathtaking and joyful property. The attention to every little detail both in the room including the L’Occitane products and 8n the salons was exceptional. You could play a variety of boules including table tennis and pétanque or do nothing but relax in bean bags in the pool or on the day beds alongside which were comfortable and numerous. The hum of cicadas and the beauty of the gardens was so serene. The owners and staff were friendly and accommodating and every little detail was attended to. The proximity to Avignon allowed us to spend the afternoon and evening at the festival and come home to what felt like our very own castle as we unlocked the door and snuck in at 12pm.The breakfast buffet offered a myriad of fresh and delicious products to enjoy.
An amazing chateau, beautiful, peaceful, the owners and all the staff are very kind and professional . Everything is clean, an amazing garden and pool. A lot of things to do inside and outdoor. Very delicious breakfast. Very cmfort bed. A very cute ? dog
A fabulous hotel! The chateau and the grounds are absolutely gorgeous. We really enjoyed our stay and the hosts and staff were amazing. We will definitely be back. The location is perfect with close access to a great wine region.
Everything is almost amazing!! The chateau design, nature, hosting, rooms are beautiful. We felt like we are in mid century:) There are also a lot of activities for children in the garden.
Only thing I can say for negative might be breakfast. Omlet or pankek can be added as an option.
