Pros +
- The location and general structure of the hotel seems to be lovely from the outside and the website. This hotel has a lot of potential -- however the poor communication, customer service abilities, and lack of experience by the owner and employees of this hotel proves that it is a 0 to 1 star rating -- and not the 4 stars that it advertises. The website of Paradisequelle boasts it's wellness, relaxation, and peaceful charm -- this is the opposite experience my friend and I witnessed during our 2 day stay here.
- Very bad.
- The location is excellent, just a few minutes’ walk from both the train and cogwheel train stations. Breakfast was decent, with a good variety of hot and cold options, though it might have been better if there had been more guests. While the property is not new, it is well-maintained, very clean, and partly modernized (for example, the bathroom). The surrounding garden is well-kept and adds a pleasant touch.
Cons -
- We booked this hotel reluctantly because all other hotels were sold out during the period we wanted --- and other negative reviewers were accurate. Booking needs to take this hotel down off its website until the management/owner can match the quality it highlights. Room was actually nice with cedar would style and nice balcony -however bathroom was from the 60's and weird smell after use -- needs an upgrade. We also paid 2 nights to have a service dog (hypoallergenic) and our room was never serviced/cleaned. When addressed with management -- they just insisted on us paying. The real issue here is the lack of knowledge around hospitality. We booked in advance and prepaid -- and we called and emailed multiple times to ask hotel about a shuttle or taxi service given it was snowing with lots of ice on the roads-- no one ever picked up the phone. We arrived at the hotel @ 6:30pm (before their 7pm front desk closure where they will charge you a 15 euro fee to check-in after 7pm) -- and the manager spoke no English and just insisted I pay the taxes and pet fee immediately. No welcome to hotel, packet, welcome water because we walked 15 min to arrive -- etc.... you feel like you are at a hostel and should be thankful for a bed you already paid for.Brkft was minimal -- bread, ham, yogurt, and juice -- hardly anything you would waste calories on. The chef will make you fried eggs if you ask. If you stay here after reading these reviews, try to get exclude the breakfast and go to a cafe in town with better service, quality, and enjoyment. After our 2nd day -- we arrived back at the hotel -- to be met with 7 people hanging out at reception to be told we needed to pay another pet fee and taxes. With all respect to language barriers -- being made to feel like you are thief for minimal to no service is the opposite of relaxation or 4*. Seems like this hotel is a shell company as owned by foreigner w/out many guests in high season. Stay somewhere else!
- I have several reasons for giving such a negative review:At 8 p.m. we went out to walk the dog through the automatic door. Ten minutes later, when we wanted to go back into the hotel, the door wouldn’t open. We tried ringing the bell and calling for 40 minutes in the freezing cold, but no one responded and we couldn’t get back inside the building. Eventually, after climbing up to one of the windows and knocking, the chef came out with a very rude attitude and let us in. We both ended up catching a cold, so I honestly can’t comprehend this kind of behavior.EDIT: You can’t get through a photocell door with the key! I tried calling several times, not just ringing the gate — it’s all in the call log — so the accommodation is simply lying.
- We knew at the time of booking that the pool was not in operation, though it would have been a nice experience to have it available. The sauna comes at an additional cost (which we were aware of), but the sauna bucket was broken, and the area around it felt more like a service space than a relaxation area. Towels were changed every other day, and on one occasion, the room was not checked to see if we needed anything. Additionally, soap and shower gel were missing when we arrived. However, once we asked, everything was quickly provided and arranged without delay.

Staff was extremely helpful. Location is fantastic. Breakfast is good.
No wellness, but I was prepared for this.
The location was convenient to the train station and the Salamander cogwheel train, the view of Schneeberg from our window was lovely. The thing I most appreciated was that they accommodated us a day early when I made a mistake booking!
Housekeeping needs to check dispensers. The soap dispenser at the sink was empty and I didn’t realize the shampoo dispenser in the shower was completely empty until I was in with wet hair! The place is for sure older with plastic shower and bathroom floor, and just all around older finishes. It could be lovely with an all around makeover. But if you will be out and about and just need a place to sleep and shower because you’ll be hiking exploring etc it is a big step up from camping!
The balcony and the view of Schneeberg. There was party in the restaurant but in the room it was quiet.
Cold. Heating was very weak, and to get warm water requires patience (probably due to the almost empty hotel).
I really enjoyed my stay. The staff was great - helpful, friendly, and made me feel welcome. They were always willing to go the extra mile. The room was clean and comfortable, and the location was perfect - close to everything I wanted to see and do. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great experience!
Cheap hotel becomes an expensive one?
The booking.com showed a great price of 212€ for 2 rooms, 4 adults, but the reservation was actually created only for 2 rooms, 2 adults!... hotel manager insisted on double the amount to add 2 more guests on the rooms, so in total 424€, double the amount shown on booking.com during reservation! Additionally, reception is only until 7 pm, so when I asked to check in at 8pm, the hotel charged an additional 15€ ?
Lovely location, newly renovated room, good value for price, warm showers.
Too cold in the rooms (but temperature were hot on the day and cold in the evening, thus heating struggled).
Nice view from the balcony, big garden, comfortable bed, delicious breakfast.
Old fashioned furnitures, too little, dark and smelly bathroom. On the whole the hotel was a bit overpriced.
Beautiful balcony with very comfy beds in the room. The location was close to hiking and to train station.
The wellness area did not live up to the expectation. It was not possible to swim outside and it felt old. The breakfast was OK but not that fresh.
Exceptional breakfast, very friendly staff and the cold water pool which was freezing cold. The sauna is huge, I was always on my own in there. Had a good swim in the mornings. Beautiful back garden.
There isn't any hot tub and the wellness is a bit neglected. There is a huge potential in those wellness facilities. Gym is also poorly equipped.
Comfortable bed, nice garden, good breakfast.
The price per night is quite high, the quality you get is average. We booked a deluxe double room and got worse room than our friend who booked standard single room. Does not make any sense. Bar closes at 21:00, restaurant also, so after the whole day of hiking you you find yourself in the village of ghoasts with option to eat, buy food or at least have a beer.
Location is beautiful, the garden is amazing! The suite was comfortable and clean, already on the ground floor. There is table tennis which my children liked. The spa-whirlpool area is nice too.
The food was ok, would’t say good nor bad, but ok. On Friday we ordered menu and the waiter gave alcoholic dessert to both children, they said it is strange and after we realized why but they eat already most of it.. The other waiter was not even looking at us, when we tried to order something to drink we had to wait like 20 mins, they would need one more person for evenings when it’s full. However the Hungarian waiter on Sunday was very nice, he immediately asked what we want.Near the big pool was not very clean.
Superb location, friendly and flexible staff, awesome wellness department
Our room was located near the kitchen / restaurant so it was a bit noisy throughout the day but other than that, nothing to complain about
The hotel was not exactly modern but it was clean and the staff were great. The food in the restaurant was tasty, there was a choice of fresh fruit for breakfast and salads for lunch and dinner. The wellness area was nice, the swimming pool was pleasantly warm.
The info on booking is misleading, it offers breakfast only, half board, full board and all inclusive options. We asked about the contents of the all inclusive option but did not receive any answer before the end of our stay. Despite that, we booked it only to find out that all inclusive means the same as full board, i.e. no drinks and nothing extra. We missed the first lunch as it is on the day of arrival, although the receptionist said we could make use of it on our last day, the restaurant did not know that and did not let us choose one (you choose the meal out of two options on the day before). We skipped one more lunch because it was all meat based (both the starter and both meal options) and had to ask for a veg meal for another dinner, they were happy to do that. Generally veg meals are rare, fish is an option most of the times, but not always.Booking offered a room upgrade but when we arrived, our room was book only for Thursday and Saturday night, one night missing in between, the lady at the reception was very helpful and found another room, for the whole duration of our stay, but it was the standard, non-upgrade room. We contacted booking assistant to solve these troubles but have not received any reply yet, let alone during the stay itself.
A luxurious retreat, and perfect place to relax after exploring the outdoors. Comfortable rooms and a very lush wellness centre. Good views from almost everywhere.
Cleaners seemed eager to get room cleaned before check-out time.
The location is amazing at the foot of the mountains so beautiful views all around. The hotel was great, food and comfort and all. We used the spa which was a great way to relax. The hotel lent us some bicycles to cycle around which was good fun. Most of all the staff were exceptional. they greeted us very kindly and were so nice and helpful. They went out of their way to accommodate us. It was truly an amazing experience. Thank you ☺️
The room was convenient, the meals good.
The bathroom with transparent glass wall was bizarre, the sauna was inconvenient.
The hotel is really nice and the room was quite cozy. The view was great from the balcony! Wellness area is also nice, but bit old-fashioned.Staff members are super kind and helpful. Food was nice with quite big portions.
