Pros +
- we have been here the 2nd time and enjoyed our stay. we had a junior suit, the room is spacious and beds are comfortable. There is a pillow service, so you can choose the best suitable pillow, top! Generally we like the relaxed atmosphere in compare to other hotels.
- Very pleasant staff, beautiful hotel. Lovely room in a great location.
- Impressive building and architecture, very good wine from the region and comfortable room. breakfast buffet had a good variety
Cons -
- The restaurant produces delicious food but there isn’t a single item in the menu for a vegetarian. So many people do not eat meat or fish these days, me included, this seemed out of touch with modern times.
- Minor, but worth adding that the Tesla destination charger wasn’t working. Maintenance did appear instantly to help me try fix it but no such luck.Rooms a little outdated, but still comfortable and a welcome site after a long day.
- Though wifi was strong in reception and the breakfast room, there was no WiFi anywhere else. None in the bedroom, or the nearby corridors. Only in reception which was very annoying. The room was very dark. There were very low bedside lights by which you cannot read and main wall lights which don't light up the centre of the room. The air conditioning didn't exist - there was heating which was set at 0°C and a wall vent. Thankfully it was a coolish night. Breakfast was quite poor, though was better on Saturday than Friday.

It’s a very interesting building with lots of history. Birds roost in the courtyard tree which is magical as they sing loudly.

Firstly, I’ll start by saying that, Alcantara is a hidden gem destination in Spain. Perhaps a little bias, as I’ve been visiting for 10 years. Nonetheless the place is a natural beauty! So location wise, if you want a relaxing Spanish countryside stay, here is the place. The hotel itself is cool and a unique stay, the fittings and the history behind the building is very cool. Staff, like most people in the village, are very friendly and helpful to someone with mediocre Spanish vocabulary. My favourite part of the stay was the walk back to the hotel at the end of my day, really was pretty at sunset/sunrise.

room was excellent, large clean and comfortable , meals top quality.
Spacious, quiet and friendly staff. The town’s history is very interesting. From the hotel it’s just a 10 minutes walk. Restaurant is good value for money, nice dishes.
The location was great, just outside of the town of Alcántara and 20 minutes walk from the Puente Romano from where a 20km walking circuit through the National Park starts and less than 90 minutes walk to La Cantera, the swimming Quarry. The room was very spacious with a comfortable desk, wardrobe and desk. The bathroom had a whole bath with a plug and a powerful shower over. Bathroom was long and narrow but roomy enough.Parking was outside the front and easy to find/ park in.

Lovely characterful building. Staff friendly and allowed us to keep our bicycles indoors.
The room was very warm and the air-conditioning didn't seem to cool the room much so we did not sleep at all well. We booked this accommodation because it had a swimming pool but it was not available for use, which was disappointing.
Fantastic care for pets. Provided beds , wipes, water bowls and toys that you could bring with you when you left. Fairly good and priced restaurant. Welcoming and very helpful staff . Will be happy to be back
Rooms lack cosiness, spacious rooms but bare and dark
Historic building, great room, really good dinner, Marie the waitress - she was fab.
Directions signs to our room could have been better, we got semi lost a few times.
Alcantarra is breathtaking to drive up to when you come towards the Roman bridge. This hotel is a lovely complement to that. Staff are all friendly and rooms are nice, spacious and clean. The building has some lovely history also, but I would say the location is its strongest point.
That there is a modern dam nearby, but not the fault of the hotel. That’s the only blot here. The place is utterly beautiful. The people are lovely also.
Very helpful and friendly staff. Restaurant did lovely food, nice sized rooms, good bath and shower and a cool old building.
Breakfast was a real let down. All empty cereal pots (but still there so you know it's missing) stale bread and pastry's.
High standard of construction and finishing
No facilities - only a bar terrace. Dinner menu very limited. Quality of food was very disappointing.
The staff especially Maria who looked after us.?the evening dinner was great.
We booked the hotel because it had a pool & travelled out of our way to get to it. Only to find the pool was closed, very disappointed ? & would have cancelled the booking. The room was very hot the air conditioning was not adequate for the size of the room, we had a very uncomfortable night & did not sleep very much. We had a booking for our return trip, this has been cancelled.
The lovely quiet and relaxed atmosphere. The way that the original convent buildings have been redesigned sympathetically to retain many original features. The capacious rooms. The efficient and polite staff.
dinner and breakfast were amazing
could have been better maintained, property shows wear and tear.
DESIGN OF BUILDING AND INNER COURTYARD and Terrace with view were lovely .Friendly barman .Good parking and nice view from small window .
At checkin no details of wifi were given or how to call reception .No book or sign in the room so went back to reception and given password .returned to room but could not log on .returned to reception and told no wi fi in our room.no apology ..We offered to upgrade at our cost but told no rooms had wi fi So why werent we told 1st time at check in or 1st return ??? Inclusive dinner was the worst we have had in spain .Cold veal and Pork .Acidic wine which abrupt waitress intially refused to change ..Friendly barman offered to microwave our main courses but concerned about food hygiene at that stage .Cost of dinner was waived without asking .No glasses in room .No kettle or Coffeemaker . Only paper cups in bathroom .Seriously cracked washbasin with temporary repair .
Both the lady at reception and the lady in the restaurant were amazing, very friendly and welcoming. The swimming pool was very nice and located in a very quiet corner outside the building. The room was very spacious and the air conditioning was very efficient.
Not being able to stay one or 2 more days.
charming converted convent ( with historical milling equipment onsite from its former life) in a quiet, ancient town. the goats with bells outside our window were the perfect country ambiance. The menu de dia was a good value, a small bar on site and a king bed proved to be a restful overnight stay. The town is rich in Roman antiquity surroundings.
When asked about the spa, we were just told it was closed. The Pool was a green mess and not suitable to get in
