Pros +
- The location is excellent, and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
- Location and the staff. The common areas were nicely decorated for Xmas holidays.
- The location was very central with walking distance to all the restaurants there and the monastery of Portaria Panagia odigitria also the receptionists were very helpful and hospitable with so much kindness.
Cons -
- The breakfast was supposed to be homemade, with traditional pies and high-quality, natural ingredients. In reality, everything was frozen and pre-made. There was no variety from day to day, and if you stay for several days, it becomes very boring because it is always exactly the same.Parking is also an issue. If all rooms are fully booked, it becomes difficult because there are not enough parking spaces for all guests. The interior walls are extremely thin. You can clearly hear the neighboring rooms, and it feels like you are living together with the people next door.
- The rating is for the room I booked and I stayed the last night, not the one I stayed the first 3 nights (the nice staff gave me an upgrade). The room I booked and stayed the last day was a 200+ € room, but it looked like a 70s room with an extra small bathroom, an extremely uncomfortable bed and bulky furniture thrown here and there without having any reason to be there. The room was big and could have a small working suffice and at least one chair ....but alas, not a single chair.
- The rooms aren’t all updated , there isn’t much view of the sea just side view of the city of Volos , towels were frayed from washing them although very clean , definitely need couple luggage stand in the room for a hotel like that .Otherwise a pretty decent stay .

The hotel was very good! Lovely staff were so lovely and kind, breakfast was very ggod, very comfortable with 3 liitle kids and a couple, very close to the main area and good taverns.
Everything was good, great value for money
The establishment provided a relaxed atmosphere that was ideal for a romantic getaway. The balcony provides a great view of Volos and Makrinitsa, which we enjoyed it in the evening and during a more than satisfying breakfast.
The shower is open towards the rest of the relatively compact bathroom (there is no glass or shower curtain) which results in a quite slippery wet floor.
We felt like home. Excellent location, professional receptionist who went over her duties to help us with the booking of the train ticket. Very clean and comfortable rooms and in general a place to visit again .
Very friendly and helpful staff, gave us great advice on where to visit, eat etc. Warm rooms with hot water, beautiful building with comfortable furniture at a great location with a fantastic view and easy access to taverns and shops. Portaria is a great choice for a stay.
Room was excellent if a bit sparse on the furnishings - there could have been a second chair or a soap holder.
Clean property, very friendly staff, good breakfast and amazing location
Very friendly staff who try to smooth out problems in the hotel. Good location in the center of the village. Cozy fireplace in the room which is included in the price of the room.
No. Absolutely no. If the owner of hotel does not take any action to improve the condition of the rooms and organize the work of the team.I travel a lot. This is not my first 3-star hotel. And it was very unpleasant. We booked the most basic room category. We read the room description and everything was fine with us. The room is in the building next to the reception. There is no elevator. For us, the lack of an elevator was not a problem. But it may be inconvenient for older guests. There was a problem with a HUGE DEEP PUDDLE! which stretched from the door of the main building to the door of the other building. And it is impossible to step over. And not two steps. Yes, snow and rain fell on the village. But the problem could have been solved by laying down a flooring or boards. After all, the hotel is located in an area with a lot of precipitation. There were wires sticking out in the room, a hole in the blanket and a buzzing electrical panel. The flush tank was faulty and it had to be pressed constantly so that it did not fill up and did not make noise. Poor soundproofing. We were told that breakfast starts at 8 am. Two days in a row we came for breakfast at 8:30-8:40 and they only started to bring out the food. On the last day the coffee machine started to heat up only at 9 am. The hotel has great potential. Great place and staff. But without improving the small problems, unfortunately nothing will come of it.
The staff was very helpful. The establishment is renovated to a very good standard. The room had a flat TV and a small fridge. The bed was very comfortable.Complimentary bottle of water in the fridge upon arrival.Dedicated parking space for the hotel guests in a nearby location.Common areas had festive decorations during the Xmas period.
There was no thermostat for the room heating. While heating was on, the room would get really hot, so we chose to turn it off. There was air-conditioning too, but we did not use it The soundproofing of the room that we got not great. We could hear the TV and clear discussions from the adjacent room. We could also hear children walking/running on the wooden floor.
Comfortable bed
Very basic breakfast. Also booking.com said it was reduced from 326 euros to 88 euros which was misleading as there was nothing special or delux about it at all.
Perfect location in the middle of town, free parking, lots of taverns around, beautiful views, good breakfast
amazing staff, great room, great views, tasty breakfast, convenient parking, close to restaurants
There is nothing we did not like during our stay
Location was very central to majority of restaurants and shops
Although the property advertised that a hair dryer would be available, the room does did not include one. The reception staff told us only luxury rooms had hairdryers and did not make any effort to source one for us.
Friendly Staff, Location
The air condition was old and noise.
Breakfast was decent to good, and the stuff was very pleasant. Comfortable bed and a big shower with a lot of hot water. Very quiet room. Nice view if you want to go to a shared balcony. Very good value if you find a discount but not good for the full price that was almost 5 times up.
In the room description, it was said that we had a view of the mountain, but that was not really true, We could see the mountain, but only if we poked our heads out of the window. We didn't have a hair dryer, even though we asked for it. They didn't change sheets and bath towels for 2 days but in description said every day. The room was a little small for the price, but not really bad.
Very central location. Excellent staff members
The breakfast is poor. No shampoo provided. No parking.
The hotel is in a great, central location—the room with a wonderful panoramic view. Breakfast is decent, and the terrace overlooks the same scenic view. Wonderful staff. Great value for money.
Good location, value for the money, clean
Breakfast was the poorest that I ever have
The hotel is in the heart of Portaria, a wonderful location. The views from the room and the breakfast area are breathtaking. All in all, great value for money.
