    • Divine! Heavenly! A beautiful place surrounded by forest and fields. A beautiful outdoor pool set in a garden. Elegant dining room, outstanding food, warm and friendly service, beautiful and comfortable room with a lovely outdoor sitting area. The best place we have ever stayed in France and worth every penny. It was such a treat and we will remember it always. Superlative.
    • The hotel is off the beaten track, but we like that. Country atmosphere, nice people, excellent dinner at a reasonable price.
    • very nice room, very friendly and helpful staff, fluent English speaker on reception, really excellent dinner, nice sitting area outside the room

    Cons -

    • Absolutely nothing.
    • The rooms were a bit small, but it was an old farmhouse and you feel that. It’s lovely.
    • just a couple of minor things, it was an old fashioned shower fitting on a bracket on the wall, it was a bit low. I would guess our room (along with about 4 others) were originally something like a stable block, it had french doors, which were nice but it meant there wasn't a window to open when it got a bit warm in the night.

The grounds and buildings were charming and well maintained. The food was excellent. Some of the staff were young and inexperienced. Senior staff were very helpful.

    Younger staff were inexperienced.

Such a superb hotel. Incredible location close to everything but so quiet and calm! Beautiful rooms, ours had a balcony to the countryside with a view of the ponies. The hotel itself is beautiful - the pool is a great size with comfortable sun loungers, and the restaurant area at golden hour is really something else. The food was really well cooked and a nice variety, we had dinner here 4 our of 5 nights. The staff was very nice and attentive!

The only thing was the air con in our room made a very loud humming noise a while after it was turned off, which made falling/staying asleep really hard.

Lovely staff, excellent service and wonderful food, with menu changing daily (which often does not happen but is important for a stay of more than a couple fo days). Nice grounds and pool.

Sun shades at pool, rather than relying on some surrounding trees.

Great location, spacious parking, large deep pool with artificial 'current', warm welcome and caring owners, amazing cuisine, the fact that you live in breathing history, calm and beautiful nature around, lovely ponies and a charming cat. If I could rate 11 out of 10, I would!

The dinner and breakfast were very good. Beautiful spot and chariming decor.

our first room was lovely, a good size, nice bathroom, simple décor and useful storage.Lovely pool area with sunbathing loungers alongside.A small terrace adjacent our room.Dining terrace on first night was enjoyable place to be.Plenty of parkingPet friendly

Sadly the hotel had some quite major issues with the sewers while we were there and we had to move to another room as the toilet overflowed across the bathroom. This meant that the dining terrace was dug up to repair the soil pipe to one of the sceptic tanks, so the smell was unpleasant and the remainder of the stay not as enjoyable as it should have been. The chef is the owner of the hotel, he focuses on local specialties which means the menu offers little for the less adventurous palette.

We have previously around 30 years ago, still the same wonderful setting in the Dordogne countryside. The hotel is still exactly how we remembered, however there is still a problem with the water system. It was necessary to run the hot water for at least 5 minutes for it to run hot. A minor issue, but an awful lot of water wasted at a cost to the hotel.

The Wi FI was very slow, but to be expected Ewing so far onto the countryside.

Beautiful location , secluded and peaceful with gardens and a good sized pool

The shower in our room was very impractical and the usual hotel issue of not having a mirror and a plug near each other The entrance way to the room we stayed in was quite tricky as it was narrow steep stairs

Peaceful location, nice room and great restaurant

    10AlisonPosted on: 5-20-2024

The hotel was very comfortable and peaceful, surrounded by lovely gardens. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The dinner in the restaurant was really lovely.

Loved the small size of the hotel and bedroom outdoor terrace overlooking the gardens. Dinner outside on the terrace was superb.

    The pool was not heated.

Amazing staff and very tranquil location! I would very much recommend the breakfast and the menu at night.

The rooms could do with a little update even though they’re very clean. A bit noisy too.

This small hotel is located on a leafy green countryside property in the heart of Perigord. We stayed 5 days and picked it because of its close proximity to sightseeing destinations, its 4-star amenities, and its free parking, which is hard to find in the towns. Our end room on the main floor was delightful. The bed was comfy and the air conditioning was excellent at overcoming the unseasonably hot weather until it broke one night. Fortunately, the very capable hotel engineer was available to fix the problem immediately. Formidable! Dinner was available every night at the hotel restaurant and we ate there on two of our nights. The food was very good, especially the veloute soup courses, but perhaps a bit too traditional Perigourdine for our tastes. Breakfast was also good, with a choice of hot egg dishes to supplement the usual continental breakfast faire. The marinated prunes with cinnamon and cloves were particularly good on the yogurt. Aperitifs were available before or after dinner in the charming lounge. We did not have a chance to use the swimming pool but it was very popular with most of the guests. The ponies in the field next door were adorable!

The "shower" was a big clawfoot bathtub with a hand-held shower nozzle and no waterproof shower curtain (??!!). In order to get wet without soaking the bathroom, it was necessary to actually sit in the bathtub while holding the shower nozzle. Performing this maneuver was quite a challenge for us 70-year-old Americans. A full waterproof shower curtain that fit inside the bathtub would have been much appreciated!

The hotel exceeded all expectations. It was beautifully situated in the middle of nature, fully equipped with all possible facilities and with an excellent restaurant. The staff were discreet and efficient but very friendly. There was a restrained yet intimate atmosphere.

The hotel is not the cheapest, but it is well worth its price.

If you love total isolation then this is the right place. Wonderfully isolated 'in the middle of nowhere'.Staff was very friendly and always ready to help if necessary.

Restaurant is good, but it's pretty basic food. Prices are very reasonable. No haute cuisine here!Very nice outdoor swimming pool. Just a pity it is not heated.
