- The main selling point of this hotel is its location set right on the edge of the lake. We booked a double room with balcony overlooking the lake and were afforded stunning views. The weather during our visit was poor and so we were unable to do as much walking as we had planned, but the whole area is beautiful and well worth exploring if you get the opportunity. Due to the weather we decided to eat in the hotel that evening and to be honest we were glad that we did as the food was delicious and the service excellent. It was a set 3 course menu with a couple of options per course and we really enjoyed it. Breakfast was the same with plenty of choice available and excellent views over the lake from the dining room
- Lovely location excellent food good choice and nice friendly staff
- The perfect location, on the shore of Lac Vassevier. Peace and calm
Cons -
- You cannot get over the fact that the hotel is starting to look old and tired and is really in need of a refurb, but don't let this comment put you off as it has a nice homely feel, the staff are very friendly and helpful and overall I would still recommend this hotel
- Since the terrace was not feasible in view of the weather, it would have been nice to have a bar indoors.
- The hotel is a little bit worn and needs some paint and overall tidying up.

The perfect location, on the shore of Lac Vassevier. Peace and calm

It is situated at a fantastic location at the lake level. A view over the lake for each and every room.
The hotel is a little bit worn and needs some paint and overall tidying up.
Lovely, varied breakfast and evening meal was very good too. Staff amicable and keen to please. Beautiful peaceful location (we stayed there 30 years ago!) and that is what attracted us the most. Although we experienced heavy rain, thunder/lightning it made no difference and didn't spoil our trip!
Nothing!
Comfortable bedroom.Lovely lakeside viewGreat location
i) Three smelly large docile dogs cluttered the hotel entrance. ii) Three of the staff smelt of cigarette smoke.iii) Evening meal was good but over priced considering we didn't get a dessert.
THE ROOM WITH A VIEW OF THE LAKE WAS STUNNINGThe food at the restaurant was very good, but we struggled with the menu as we did not speak good French and the staff did not speak English. It made the stay interesting and fun.
Everything was very pleasant with beautiful with the Lake view and surrounded by the forests. There was nothing that we could fault, even the hotel animals, dogs and cats were so friendly.
The location overlooking the lake was beautiful. Friendly staff and food excellent
The location right on a lake with one’s own balcony giving a very pleasant ambience to one’s stayDelicious meal in their restaurant
all was good
The view of lake from balcony.Food at dinner good towels were ok
From the moment we arrived entrance blocked by very large dog. had to lift cases over him although reception staff were only feet away. Welcome not great. We were asked at check in if we wanted dinner reservation. Room smelt damp . Bathroom passable We had the ends of 2 toilet rolls, soap dispenser in shower empty. When we mentioned this to manager" she said "it's end of season". Went down to restaurant later to be told we didn't have reservation and waitress was displeased at having to accommodate us even though restaurant wasn't full and never became full. Her attitude was dreadful. We ordered from set menu. Starter good, main, good. 25 minutes after finishing main plates still not collected. Head waitress came to adjoining table and apologised for not clearing their plates, even although they had just finished. Another 5 to 10 minutes went by so I took my plates to bar as we were outside and they were attracting insects. She stormed to our table and I was firmly told that I could not do that and I should be patient. Well we left without dessert. Compensation for this service debacle was refused at checkout. We asked why there were no visible smoke alarms in room or anywhere for that matter. He said if I had wanted one in our room I should have asked at reception!!!! I couldn't see any in lobby. I was told they were above the wooden false ceiling. How smoke would penetrate in time I have no idea. Avoid this hotel it could be lovely with a lot of money and love put into it. However the people running it are either too tired or lazy to care. I wish I believed this review would make a difference but they couldn't care less.!!
Superb position. Friendly reception staff.Good quality meal and breakfast.
excellent location bedroom balcony overlooking lake
didn’t communicate well, sent some emails and no response rooms rather small and tired but comfortable, twin beds which is better than double especially in hot weather. breakfast same every day no variation
Lake view
The lady at the reception felt disturbed by our arrival - as well as when we later wanted to have a coffee on the terrace. The terrace floor or tiles had not been cleaned for a long time - neither had the room balcony. There were 3 swallows' nests on the balcony, which was nice - but the bird droppings on the floor were definitely as well from last year. It is a pet friendly hotel - so you have to vacuum the carpet more often: animal hair all over the floor. There was no room service. The room and bathroom were fine, as was the breakfast. Due to the general uncleanliness, we preferred to have dinner elsewhere.
Location overlooking lake. Very homely atmosphere. Typically french. Local wine and food.
location at the lake. peaceful and quiet. we had the hotel for ourselves. The owner was friendly.
No one was there to check us in. we had to wait one hour outside before being able to check in. the room was decent but there was mold in the bathroom and the shower head was broken. the sink was clogged. We paid the regular price for a full menu without eating the meat that was proposed on the menu (we are vegetarians).
The location overlooking the lake was absolutely amazing. The room had a small balcony which we used to admire the view. It was winter so too cold to sit out. The restaurant shared the same view. Dinner was excellent as was breakfast and the staff couldn't do enough to help.
The bathroom was a bit tired.
Dinner and service were excellent!
