    Pros +

    • Free and plenty of parking, good wifi, historic building and big room, 'private' central grass field next to room, quiet location.
    • Do not recommend it to anyone who doesn't speak czech.
    • Having a chance to live in the castle is once in a lifetime experience. We were nicely accomodated by a lady, working in the castle. The interior is gorgeous, beds and pillows are super comfortable, the linen is impeccable and the bathroom is very spacious. It was unique and truly unforgettable experience. We are especially grateful to Patrick - an exceptionally talented and polite person, who is part of the staff. He showed us around the castle and helped us greatly while we were checking out.

    Cons -

    • Only one cup of free coffee with the breakfast. Next ones are to be paid. A buffet coffeemachine would be easier and cheaper. Smoked bacon (meat in general) should never be baked! There is a picture with a table full of food giving the impression of a breakfast buffet. Breakfast is only served per person, no buffet. Missing a watercooker in the room. Rooms can be cold cause orientation does not allow sunshine to enter the window.
    • No working kitchen, and no fridge, no working bar on saturday, could not say that staff speaks english and do not even try, everything is broken in the room and needs renovation. Lastly you could not walk around in the castle it is forbidden.
    • Small gel/shampoo packets.

It’s amazing to be able to stay in a 14-th century castle. It’s still undergoing restoration and thanks to it feels very intimate and undiscovered. We walked around the courtyard and around the castle pretty much alone. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The room was spacious, bed comfortable, bathroom big and clean. Breakfast is simple, but everything is fresh and meals are hearty. Stunning views!! Around the castle there are pleasant trails to explore.

    Small gel/shampoo packets.

Friendly staff at the "front desk". There's no actual from desk, just a computer right at the bar.

We had to change rooms. Our first room was sub par: missing shower door (they knew about the issue), holes in towels, rusty towel rack, the room was tiny, should've been queen bed (it was two beds pushed together). The second room didn't have hot water in the shower, also tiny, and not queen bed again. The sheets weren't clean, had some stains on them. Breakfast... very simple, and we didn't feel very well after eating.

Lovely, comfortable room, very friendly staff, hearty and tasty breakfast.

A mini fridge in the room would be lovely. But cafe in the castle was open till 7 PM I think so fortunately there was a chance to grab something cold to drink.

What a fabulous place. Friendly, clean and comfortable, especially for an old castle!

    All good.

We travelled to the Kolstein Chateau in Branna to spend a couple of days with my partner for my birthday in the tranquil and beautiful environment. To this extent, the place has fully met our expectations: the hotel is located in the old castle (still under renovation). We had a gorgeous room styled as a medieval bedroom with nice furniture and stylish bathroom. Absolutely quiet surrondings, fresh mountainous air and view on the village.Spotless clean, comfortable bed.Ladies at the reception and at the bar were very kind and attentive.

As I have mentioned, the place is being renovated, so some things are not finalized yet, but it adds certain charm to the fact of staying in the old castle. The most disappointing thing for us was the absence of the restaurant at the territory. To be more precise, it exists, however, they only serve breakfasts and drinks during the day, no dinners. It was a challenge to find a place for dinner, since there are only 2 or 3 places in the entire village and they all close at 8 pm (meaning last order to be made not later than 7 pm, which was the case in the Wellness Kolstein Hotel on the central square and a bit better in Restaurace na Kovarne, where they kindly allowed us to place the order and pay the order and then stay as long as we wished).

Partially renovated castle turned into a hotel, quite cool.Big rooms, antique furnature.quiet location.

carrying luggage to room - stairs, rubble.

Breakfast was big and tasty. Staff was super friendly. And well... you really get to sleep at the Chateau!

Historic building, former monastery. By accident I stayed same week that the classic motorcycle races were held in the village. Big room. Big bathroom with nice classic bath.

Building is restored with ugly looking stones. Basic breakfast. Mice running at night above the room ceiling. Nothing much to do. No bar.

Interesting and worth the experience. We could walk around the property and it was cool. For people that are into old places and old buildings it will be a place to go.

Room quite empty - would love a couch and a bigger TV (smart TV even better). If you plan to spend any time in the room , at least in room we got, you may feel the need for those. Some curtains may help too. Wi-fi also not so great - we struggle a little

Interesting rooms in old castle. Great staff and good breakfast for reasonable price.

This hotel is located in a medieval castle! What a wonderful place! Complete with towers and dungeons and unexpected staircases. The rooms were furnished with antiques and comfortable and clean. Staff is very kind.

Beautifull and magical castle, we felt like King and Queen. Nicely served coffee and beer.Marvellous and sympathetic staff was very helpfull

Lack of bottle of water/ mini bar in the room. There was no Vending machine or anything to buy anything to drink in the night.

Branná is a beautiful, cosy village The room is big and clean with marvelous view on the village.Big bathroomNice staffPosiiibility to park motorbikes on the inner courtyard.Keyless acces to the room (card), and how it has been solved.

There is a plenty works to do in the castle and its neigjborhood. No restaurantSome solution like wire fence along the terrace, or on courtyard, loose tiles, no safe and barrier free acces to the building, no clear signage of the entrances, banned zones are unacceptable.Garden pots with flowers would make a lot. Some improvements are easy and low cost, so I dont understand why they have not been implemented.

Interesting location in nice countryside. Very average breakfast.

Hotel in construction, horrible access to the room through construction zone. Rude owner not allowing passenger drop-off. lack of hot water in the bathroom.

Excellent experience, beautiful castle which will become even more beautiful. Big room, friendly staff, plenty of interesting activities to do around. Excellent castle tour.

    Shower to be repaired.

you should chek your arival times with chek in times. But the place was realy helpful with that and we did not have a problem. The castle and the rooms in it they are rely diferent from what you are used to,we do realy recomend to stay there for a night or two if you have a posibility you can ask for the room nr 22 it does have the character but it was chili in the room even in hot summer so be ready.Amazing place.

Very interesting experiece. Do not forget that you are in the old castle, not in the hotel. The personnel is quite welcomming, rooms are clean, breakfast is worth its price, parking is free and easy.

It's a castle, so many disadvantages are undersrtandable. But i need to mention them here so people could take this into account. For example, floor is very cold even when outside temperature was above 30!Toilet door is not closing, and moreover there is huge gap between the door and the doorjamb. And the way they renovate the castle for me is arguable - it looks more like a house made of bricks rather than a castle. I would prefer them to save more of identity of orignal castle. BUt i'm not sure that was possible at all.
