    Pros +

    • Spa, the garden/park, lobby, the staff and the restaurant.
    • The facilities were very good, as well as the staff. The food was also very good
    • The property is clean, manicured beautifully, and very well kept. The building is beautiful! The rooms are laid out in a marble like stone with dark wood that give the effect of richness. I did not see a blemish. The staff are incredible! They treat every customer like royalty and go out of their way to assist where they can. A couple of people worth mention. Diego who works in the restaurant and bar. Superb individual! Very professional and makes an excellent whisky sour! Jośe, who worked on the front desk. Bridgette, who worked in the dining room who was pleasant and very professional as well. There were others!

    Cons -

    • the hardware in the room and the toilet can use a bit of an update
    • The only think that was not excelent was the bed, it was not bad, but it could be better
    • The property is hard to find! Our Uber driver, a local, got lost and drove around the countryside trying to get to the village. To their credit, I phoned the staff and they sorted the situation out.

Everything. The greeting on our arrival was friendly. The man who checked us in apologised for being a bit slow because it was only the second time he had done it, but we were quite happy with the service from him. Breakfast was plentiful. We ate in the hotel three evenings running. The food was very tasty, and the staff was friendly. We couldn't fault anything. Parking was covered, which was great because it rained a lot during our stay.

    Nothing. Everything was just lovely.

Absolutely loved the stay at the Monte Real hotel! Its the best family friendly hotel we’ve stayed at so far! They have an animal farm, baby play room, table tennis, playstation room, inflatable castle, activities for kids, besides the regular swimming pool and spa.The staff is very friendly and flexible! (we asked to checkout later since our toddler only starts his nap at 12pm)Great overall experience! Would love to come back sometime in the future!

the only problem were the flies (proximity to the woods - which is also great!)

Good breakfast with quality food. Short on variety of hams and cheese, but what was available had good quality.Lot's of rooms to entertain kids: room with one ping pong table, another room with a PS4, plus a small kids play room.Hotel rooms are in a new building, which is quite nice.Calm and quiet hotel, despite family friendly with lots of kids. No noise. They have a mini zoo with rabits, goats, ducks, etc. Feeding times are announced. They lend bicycles and have a tenis court, as well as, a mini gold course.

The hotel is labeled "Hotel Thermes and Spa"... Well, we learned that the thermes are closed for over 10 years (the nearby river contaminated the spring), so there are no public or private thermes you can use. The spa uses regular company water. Also, for a place that is labeled as "Thermal and Spa" you would imagine water fountains or similar, but there was a complete lack of water - everything was dry and no fountains, water courses or similar. The only lake was small and not noteworthy, the "Thermes Park" is lacking maintenance, especially the mini golf course. The hotel's bar and restaurant are prohibitively expensive.A treatment at the spa is pretty expensive, too, considering you can get much cheaper massages in any major portuguese city. Definitely not a recommended hotel for Thermes and Spa...

Room comfortable; access helpful; facilities well presented; staff supportive.

The Termas were not available and we were not advised of that absence on booking and the effect of their long term closure on Monte Real and it’s facilities such as restaurants.

Friendly staff, size of rooms, aircon, pillows, quality of sheets, clean. Decor, bar lounge, pool area.

Mattresses are the only complaint. They are very very hard and uncomfortable.

    10AlmeidaPosted on: 5-2-2024

First and foremost, you're surrounded by nature. If you are planning to recharge your batteries, this is the perfect place to do it. Can't recommend the restaurant enough, we didn't feel like going out for dinner and it was the best decision we made.PS, if you do eat in, try the Raffaelos. They are otherworldly.

That's not on the hotel itself but on the location, but Monte Real has very little to offer. However, if you're just planning to stay in and use the facilities, this stops being a problem. The minigolf was lacking in maintenance.

Spacious rooms and very clean and well maintained hotel and green area around it. Beautiful spots just for the walks around. Spa area very relaxing and quiet

Breakfast could have bit more veggie choices and I'll suggest better pillows menu for the rooms.

    Very quiet hotel. Comfortable bed.

    Breakfast room was quite chilly.

    6ShevtsovaPosted on: 11-26-2023

    Pleasant

the hotel is old, as is the room. smells of an old room. There was no shower in the bathroom, only a bathtub, the water drained poorly as always. The girl at the reception was alone in the evening. it was late, we were very tired and wanted to go to our room as quickly as possible. I stood at the counter for 15 minutes and waited, because the girl was talking to someone on the phone and telling someone about all the conditions and promotions at their hotel. it lasted forever. and I was completely ignored. when she finished the conversation, the whole process of issuing me a card from the number took 1 minute. I asked if it was really possible to interrupt the conversation and give me the card for the number, she simply apologized. this was very strange behavior. there was no one else, it was late and empty.

A variedade de actividades à nossa disposição. A qualidade das instalações e ambiente envolvente. O atendimento superior.

    Nada.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed here. Of course, the hotel itself is absolutely beautiful with beautiful views of nature. The town of Monte Real is also very very charming. What really stands out though is the kindness of the entire staff. They were so helpful and considerate throughout our entire stay. I would also like to mention that the quality of the food in the restaurant was brilliant and such a great selection for both the dinner/breakfast buffet and the a-la-carte options.

Do not have very much to comment on here. Overall the stay was great. The only thing that if I want to be picky is that although the team is very accommodating with any missing items (such as a phone charger, toiletries, sewing kits, etc), they do not deliver to the room and we had to go to the front desk to pick them up. Not an issue at all but had to keep my kids alone in the room when we had to run down.

Good size rooms with comfortable beds. Friendly breakfast crew. Refreshing lemonade in the reception area - a nice welcoming touch upon arrival. Central position; nice for a walk around the town. Lively area - other bars/ cafés in the area.

Food and beverage staff tend to 'hide' out of sight; you then hear them, mostly having a great time (sometimes there are discussions), but there is no line of sight/ eye contact possible. You often have to go fetch them from some passage leading (probably) to the kitchen area...

The hotel is very nice, with a good breakfast and dinner (limited menu). Rooms are clean, and spacious, and have balconies. The downstairs lobby is very stylish with connecting bar.

The hotel is advertising itself as a spa and termas. Unfortunately, termas are permanently closed since about 2016 after the storm destroyed it. The hotel should update the website description to match the reality.

    7FilipelteixeiraPosted on: 11-14-2022

The hotel layout and facilities are quite nice, the entire space seems to be well maintained and cleaned. The SPA workers were very nice and thoughtful.

Overall hotel staff could be more nice, from the reception (multiple times I got there and no one was there - and I'm talking about normal business hours e.g.: 11am, 15pm... always had to wait or call out to the inside of the reception) to the restaurant workers.Apparently room cards stop working an hour before the check out, had to go to the reception to restart mine, but other people on the hallway were complaining about the same.
