Pros +
- Staff and facilities were great. Free parking, good breakfast, quiet and nice sized room. Dinner at the restaurant was excellent! Easy to find as it is on the main road.
- Not enough time to take advantage of the hotel spa and pool (late checkin and early leave)Curtains are suitable to block light.Good quality of breakfast products, although limited.
- Black out curtains, lots of power sockets available, free cot for our 20 month old daughter. The breakfast was very good - local breads and pastries and standard breakfast requests catered for in the small buffet.
Cons -
- Don't like late check-in time. 4 pm is very late compared to most hotels. Pillows were not very comfortable.
- Cannot admit that they make us checkin at 16h00 (!) and room is not properly clean (excuse provided at checkin was related to "time for cleaning"). Spots in the carpet. Table next to my bed was bended/ not 100% steady. Balcony not 100% clean and with poor maintenance, requires reinvestment.Architecture of the room is not suitable, having a window that destroys privacy in the bathroom (curtain is not enough, not manipulated from the inside; too much light for people sleeping!). TV in the room is redundant and annoying, with the screen always on. Bathroom has poor maintenance. Bath tub design is terrible when regarding avoiding water to leave during shower.
- No tea/coffee/kettle in the room. Plaster was falling off the walls throughout the property - very tired and not reflective of the advertised 4 stars of extreme price paid.we arrives at 15:45 for the advertised check-in time of 16:00. Wes had to wait for almost an hour in reception (with a tired 20 month old) and not given a key to our suite until 16:40. Most places I would expect a check-in at 15:00 at the latest and the cleanliness of the room was sub-standard. Check out was a strict 10:00

I liked that it had a sauna, a jacuzzi and a turkish bath
I didn't like that the pool was almost cold, i didn't like that they had a gym but it wasn't open, i didn't like the smell of chlorine througout the hotel. Also, I payed for the best suite, and the romantic package, which included a robe and slippers, the staff just forgot and it was us that had to ask them to give to us. P.S. The romantica package could include something more than just 6 strawberries with dried chocolate.
Very beautiful place, and quiet , good food and good for relaxing
I don’t have time for see everything
Great location , feeling of countryside It’s very spacious inside Rooms are generous in size and very comfortable Spa was very much enjoyed , particularly as we had it basically to ourselves .We enjoyed dinner and breakfast .Service from all was kind, friendly , warm .
My only criticism is it is a little frayed around the edges . Certain things look worn , balcony could have nicer outside furniture , rather than plastic chairs .Some of the paintwork needs a face- lift .
Lovely hotel in a country location, very comfortable stay. Only disappointment was we couldn't try the restaurant as they had a wedding on.
Swim cap necessary for indoor pool, fortunately I had one with me as they cost €4.50
All pretty good but poor weather!
Problems with electrical - had to change rooms
Good location, calm and relaxing.
Felt it was lacking some organization, between staff. The room size was ok, however you could notice some stuff was needing attention or some repairing. Breakfast was also a bit basic.
Breakfast and restaurante service and meals are very good.
The building is needing some repairements and renovation.
large, comfortable and spacey rooms.excelent breakfast (with local food).
- Loved the ample room space. - spacious varandas and view to the pool. - context of the pool area next to a wonderful farm yard with sheep was amazing. - Very quiet setting and a great place to relax.- Great indoor pool area with fully functional jacuzzi
- Sofa mattress had almost no sponge left. Had to place an extra blanket to make the bed more comfortable for the kids.- no bacon for breakfast- Wifi would sometimes not work. Had to use my own- under staffed- had to ask for more towels for the bathroom- bar area could be larger and could include more activities for families
Nice hotel with pool, wellness and big rooms.
Quiet location, food, pool
WC has a glass wall to the bedroom, the cover does not cover completely
Great food at the restaurant.
Artificial grass around the pond and upstairs lounge needed to be tidied up.
The breakfast was very good and the staff very helpful. The outdoor swimming pool is amazing and having countryside animals in the surroundings was also a plus.
The jacuzzi had way too much chlorine, it was unbearable. Also, the hotel needs some maintenance and refurbishment in some areas.
The location and the surroundings are very pleasant. The hotel is quiet and you really can enjoy the calmness of the Alentejo region. The rooms have a good size, and they provide the amenities you expect to find in a hotel like this. The breakfast was also good and varied. The staff is very professional and pleasant.
There are some things that this hotel can improve. For instance, for me, the worst thing about the hotel is the external swimming pool. It was the first time I went to a swimming pool where it was completely impossible to open my eyes while I was swimming or diving due to the large amount of chlorine that was in the water - I mean, this was crazy high. I've talked with other hosts that had exactly the same experience. I felt this on the first day of our stay, and reported it back to the staff - they didn't do anything about it.Also, on many occasions, it looked like the hotel was understaffed because we had to wait for a long time in the reception because there was nobody there. Besides that, upon our arrival, they immediately warned us that the meals in the hotel restaurant had to be booked in advance (what is normal) due to the shortage of staff in the kitchen. The Wi-Fi was free, but the bandwidth and coverage were not great. For instance, in the external swimming pool area of the hotel, there was no coverage. Also, sometimes, the connection speed was really poor.Although the rooms were spacy and cosy, some of the materials in the room and bathroom were somewhat degraded and require maintenance. For instance, the carpet in the room had some stains and the bathroom table and sink also look degraded. We also asked for extra pillows, but there were no extra pillows in the hotel - according to hotel staff. Finally, it was impossible to control the air-conditioned... there were no controls for it.
Good breakfast. Large room areas. Friendly staff.
Breakfast room with a lot of flies. Uncomfortable mattress. Noise from a large group.
Monte Filipe is a great hotel and very easy to get to. Although it is just off the main road, the hotel and the village were very quiet and peaceful. The staff were very helpful, everything was spotless, and dinner in the restaurant was also very good! We enjoyed the sauna and the pools and had a great massage.
There were a few small things in the room and a couple of the spa facilities that were not working. It didn't really spoil our stay, but it did take the shine off a bit.
We have used this hotel several times in the past couple of years. The location is very good on the edge of town but has a rural feel with a flock of sheep in the adjacent field. As before, the room was clean and comfortable and staff helpful as always. Dinner in the restaurant is good at a reasonable price and the included breakfast has returned to buffet style.
Everything was as expected.
