About
The unique and modern Consolación is located in the mountainous Matarraña region. It has a swimming pool, mountain views, free Wi-Fi and free onsite parking. Split between a converted building and some modern cubes, Consolación offers rooms with large windows and designer details. Many of the rooms have sunken slate baths, while others have Alvar Aalto furniture. Most have private terraces. Consolación has gardens with an outdoor pool which has views of the pine forest. The hotel has various lounges and a library. The restaurant, housed in a former barn, serves a mixture of modern and regional dishes using fresh local produce. Guests can also use the kitchen. Consolación can be found in the Teruel province of south-east Aragon, just outside the village of Monroyo and beside a 16th-century hermitage. The hotel offers bicycle rental.

Pros +
- The property is in a beautiful spot, just in the middle of the mountains. Hotel fully renovated inside but maintaining all the original style. Staff is very welcoming, friendly and they try to make your stay very memorable. The breakfast and dinner are delicious. They are cooked in situ with good and local products.
- The place is beautiful, the linnens are super white and the bed comfy and very clean, the food was delicious, Gloria (the owner is super attentive and gave us a “coca de llanda” as a farewell treat. The slippers they give you for your stay is a very nice touch. If you go more than two days is better to take advantage of the facilities bc we hardly had time to hang out in the library or the games room.
- Super tranquil and totally relaxing. Excellent breakfast with high quality products. Dinner was delicious too, although a little expensive. Really loved the cubes and exploring the whole property. It was super romantic.
Cons -
- Nothing, only to say the price is a bit elevated for the kubos and they are not very well clean only in some parts because everything is black and I suppose that can be quite difficult
- I would suggest facilitating a broom to every room to sweep up the debris caused by the fireplace and dirt from the outside. We couldn’t fill the bathtub till the first step , maybe because other people were using the water at the same time as us, but in the end we just showered. The water was warm at nice but it took a bit to regulate.
- There was a short delay for us to check in due to staffing shortages but the lady who welcomed us, was extremely kind and welcoming, despite being rushed off her feet.

Beautiful old converted hotel with amazing cubes cleverly hidden in the pine forest with incredible views and a log burner to finish off the ambiance A fusion of old and modern Staff welcoming and helpful Delicious evening meal and our dog loved it too What more can I say but looking to book again soon ??
Just slight noise from the radiators in no 8 may be need air taken out
A lot of thought went into the design. Could see owners wanted to create something different and have succeeded. Very tranquil like a retreat. Arero (I have done violence to the spelling of her name) was warm and welcoming, and kind, a real asset to have working there.
The view from the cubes is amazing, the bathtub in the floor a nice touch, great breakfast, comfortable bed, very nice staff
It would be handy to be able to hang your towels to dry anywhere in the room.
Beautiful room in a beautiful area. You feel very luxurious with a view of the mountains. The bad is wonderful Breakfast is very nice.
The younger hostess is a bit rude. Loudly chewing gum when speaking and during serving of food. A bit rushed to get us to finish dinner.
Most things, lovely room, log burner nice, nice staff, great food in Restaurant. Peaceful place, good hiking from the hotel. Superb breakfast
Some people might find the bed awkward it’s low and you have to get in from the bottom. The hotel is hard to find you need to go into Monroyo if heading North.
Beautiful location, great rooms, nice contemporary design, excellent breakfast.
A little more outdoor lights (parking area and path to room)
Remotely locatedQuiet Comfortable bed Nice viewSwimming poolFoodsAttached church access (used seldomly by locals)Bath in bedroom and shower roomOnly 9 or 10 rooms
Lack of practical storage for use of toiletries. Stone sink did not have plug incorporated.
The property was spectacular! An oasis within the beautiful countryside. The views from the cube rooms are stunning, while the pool and garden are a place of tranquility. The food was delicious and the wine great! The staff were polite and very accommodating. The founders of the property were so welcoming and explained to us their ideas and history about the property. Would definitely recommend this place.

Breakfast was good. Restaurant menu meets quality expectations. Really comfortable bed

Excellent location and beautiful setting! Staff very helpful and nice. They thought of all the details of an old place with modern comforts.
Would have loved to have more food choices for lunch.
Amazing Hotel. Excellent food! Nothing to do but eat, sleep and play card games. Really relaxing. The pool area is wow too.
None of the staff spoke English.
Everything about this property is 5 star. The location and the sound of silence. Dinner and breakfast were exceptional.
Absolutely nothing
The day bed, the views and the beautiful chapel named in honor of Our Lady of Consolation. Our room however left a lot to be desired.
Poor lighting in the room, especially the “bathroom” lights which were yellow fluorescent tubes, a tiny mirror in the “bathroom” made it impossible to apply makeup, no proper door on the small toilet and shower cubicle (a loose barn door arrangement), nowhere to hang anything in said cubicle, being able to hear noise and conversations from the kitchen, hallway and reception area. My husband and I thought well if we can hear them talking then they can hear us too? We felt our privacy was compromised making us feel uncomfortable. If an establishment charges high prices then guest expectations are also high. These for us were not met.
A truly wonderful, tranquil location. Switch off and listen to the silence.
Mixture of new architecture in restaured old finca
Location, concept, food were absolutely premium. Best place to stay in the Matarraña area, by far.
It is beautiful & always the wonderful staff
