Hotel Donauhof Mauthausen

Location is great, right across the street from the Danube. It's on a busy road, but my room was very quiet. I arrived before check in time but they let me check in straight away which was great after walking 17 miles. The room was very comfortable and clean. Dinner was very good, especially the salad! Service was excellent. Breakfast was easily in the top 2 of my 3 week stay in Austria. I was first in the breakfast room so was able to get a nice little video of the breakfast which my friends and family were very impressed with! I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

I reserved a double room for just one person, but ended up in a twin room with two beds. The staff repeatedly tried to discourage me from using the second bed by continuously covering it up.

The breakfast was good and the room was clean and comfortable.

This place is amazing. Very professional friendly staff. Beautiful hotel and our room with the Danube view was blissful! We used the hotel restaurant for dinner which served traditional Austrian food and beers. Car parking facilities were great. Also the town of Mauthausen is beautiful. We loved a late evening wander around here.

My only tiny gripe is the breakfast was pretty decimated by the time we got downstairs at 8.30. Not much to choose from.

Staff didn’t respond to questions several days before our arrival and wasn’t onsite when we arrived so a bit difficult getting in touch to store our luggage and to check in especially because we don’t know German and couldn’t read instructions on the door.

A very nice, modern hotel with a most welcoming atmosphere by the side of the Danube. Superb breakfast, nice furniture and decorations. Efficient check-in and check-out. Very helpful staff with natural hospitality. Simple, free parking.

The restaurant was closed, although it was supposed to be open on a Friday evening. The gentleman at the reception directed us to a restaurant area nearby. Thank you!

Restaurant was closed and we were directed to another restaurant that was also closed on Sat night. Breakfast was light and staff not helpful.

After a long drive arrived at 2pm - we knew room not available until 4pm. However we expected we could leave cases at the hotel. It should be noted on arrival the front door was locked and no one on reception. People should be made aware no access at this hotel until after 4pm.

This is a small and nice hotel in a great location, with a view to the river. Beautiful interior, everything is perfectly clean. The staff is very nice. The kitchen is outstanding, the chef is amazing! Everything was perfect and very delicius, and their liver dumpling soup is one of the best in Europe! Really!

The air conditioner blows cold air directly on the bed and on the guest's head. For those who are not sensitive to cold air flow, this is certainly not a problem, but it made it very difficult for me to sleep.

The property was very quiet and good location for exploring the surrounding area. Lovely stay for the Clam Rock Festival. Lovely breakfast to start the day, great scrambled eggs and breads. Comfy bed, slept so well!

Very stylish new hotel.

Adjacent to a busy road however don’t let this put you off staying here the sound proofing is excellent and if you stay in a room in the third floor you can’t see the road as you look across to the river.

Esspresso in the room was excellent, it was so good that the one at breakfast has no taste afterwards ?

The restaurant at the hotel was closed at 6 p.m. which was a bit disappointing.

The breakfast was good

We had made a mistake with our booking probably because the internet was patchy in the area. Although we had booked a double room with a queen bed we had inadvertently only entered one guest. We were not allowed to stay in the room booked and pay for a second person but had to have another room and pay more than double the price. This was very disappointing. Then our new room had only one chair which was unsatisfactory. It had fewer facilities than most other places we stayed and yet cost more than double of our other hotels.

Newish, clean, good tv, easy bike storage, good breakfast.

Shower drains all over the floor, need more hangars in room, need bigger teacups for the tea/coffee machine in the room.
