Pros +
- The property has a lot of character and the owners are very charming and you can see the hard work they put into their property. The pool was very nice on the hot day when we stayed.
- The idea is great, host were friendly and looked out for the children. Dog was friendly. Shower was warm.
- Place was amazing as was the room no complaints.
Cons -
- The furniture around the pool needs repair
- The execution of the property was poor. From entry, ground maintenance was poor, walking in to checkin was a smell (it wasn’t just old building), been in a few castles lately. When shown to the room it was neat and tidy, linen clean etc. but there were beetles all through the rooms and dead bugs in the floor. Again, okay with old buildings but these were not just a day old, been comfy in there for a while. No knives to butter a piece of bread, no cloth or towel to do dishes, tv remote battery flat and TV channels were not tuned properly.
- Pool was really nice as were the grounds.

Location
En-suite needs work and hot water was non existent
Old fashioned chateaux suits my purpose when travelling and working in and around vineyards of Bordeaux
Could do with a little more cleaning mold in showers and dusty
Very nice chateau and home to the owner with a very attractive style in the main reception rooms. Homely and warm with owners pets around
Unfortunately we arrived when there was no proprietor about and the person holding the fort did not know much at all. Including where to find the wi Fi code, where we could eat, where the drinks and food lived, and how to operate the bar etc. but with a lot of coaxing we eventually got some wine and cheese for our dinner.
Perfect place to stop on our drive back to uk from Portugal. BeautifulOld chateau redone by a family. Rooms are very and spacious. Nice little town to have dinner in. Dog friendly and beautiful grounds to walk the dog and run the children around in. Nice pool.
Fabulous location like walking back in time.
Was on a motorbike, and the gravel driveway was dodgy to steer on. Breakfast was i bit confusing with no assistance
the castle is nice, a bit outdated, would require some refreshment.good breakfastOwner is a really nice person, helpful and with good advises
the HVAC was not working in our room
Pool
No internet not Wifi. Launch area was very bad old furniture and looks a cheap motel.Garden is not maintained and even the grass is not cut for months.
beautiful setting with lovely decor in keeping with the style of the property. loved the facilities and the hosts were amazing. very accommodating.
Most local things were shut on a Sunday and Monday and the restaurant wasn’t open at all times.
Our room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The bathroom needed some attention but was a nice size, bath had new taps but shower had plastic broken ones.
The reception area and breakfast area smelt badly of the big dogs (I am not usually allergic, but my chest closed within minutes of walking in). The breakfast was disappointing, not much available, egg boiler was dirty and most tables had not been cleaned. The bread on the table we were not sure if it was left behind by the previous guests. I feel maybe they were really understaffed. We could see the idea was to keep the place authentic, but the communal rooms were cluttered with furniture. This hotel has the potential to be old, quiant, but chic (classy). Perfer a duvet, then a sheet and blanket. Overall, I was disappointed, I had seen the low ratings but thought I would make up my own mind and give the hotel the benefit of the doubt, hoping they were judged too harshly.
The place is a real find and the woman who runs the place is an excellent person to run an establishment. Great personality, good conversation and her husband works in a vineyard.
the ambience, the style, the localization.
the basine have -as old style- two crane -one for hot water and the other for cold one- and is not confortable because all the houses and hotel uses the mixed crane.
The staff were extremely considerate and helpful. The place is renovated with respect to its history. I appreciated the room cleanliness, good environment, high quality products served for breakfast, the location close to Bordeaux and also to local attractions and restaurants.
Venue and people were amazing as well as the food
Booking mix ups and they had to cancel our second night to accommodate a wedding which was a bit frustrating.
A stunning place to stay and a beautiful location. After à busy day we could relax by the pool or enjoy a wine on the terrace. Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful in sharing information, be it about local wineries, places to visit or how to get into the city.
Bad
I´am deeply disappointed about the communication with the hotel and booking. We were paying the higher rate so that we could cancel the booking as long as possible, obviously because of the experiences with covid. Unfortunately, our son, one day before we wanted to arrive, had an emergency surgery in Spain and had to remain in the hospital for 5 more days. Unfortunately, at this time the cancellation period had expired and I understand that basically the costs remain with us. However, I have no understanding that the hotel delegates the decision to booking and booking states that this is the decision of the hotel. Booking also simply ended the communication without even sending a final decision. I was aware that I could not get a refund, but I would have liked a more accommodating solution due to the emergency, since the hotel has also saved costs, such as breakfast, etc.. And booking could have accommodatingly waived its fees, which are considerable. But nothing happened and the communiaction was simply canceled after a few warm words. Overall, I am very disappointed with the hotel and even more so with booking.
Restaurants in the village a few minutes walk were fantastic. We throughly enjoyed the set menus and the food and wine was delicious !
Sent 20/07 with no reply, We are extremely unhappy about our stay and we feel the information currently online is misleading. Our room was very dirty, dusty with cobwebs and spiders on all light fittings and in most corners of the rooms. Cobwebs were over a significant period of time and not just because the property is located in the country. Hundreds of ants were found in the wardrobe, on our clothing; in the bathroom on the units and on our wash bags; dead ants were floating in the soap bottle again indicating that this has been a problem for a considerable period of time; in the bed we woke up with 20/30 ants by our heads. No sign of any efforts to control the ants (spray/powder provided). Air conditioning not working in the room; this was not explained to us when checking in and no fan was provided. Temperatures in the room exceeded 30 degrees. We had no option at times to leave the room door open in the middle of the night in the stifling heat which felt unsafe as the property is not secure with the property gate open to the street with. Room fridge was broken. We stayed at the property on the basis that we could use the bikes to visit friends and local amenities. Bikes had not been serviced this year; had flat tyres, were rusty and not operable or safe to use. In the communal areas , rugs were thread bare, the table in the courtyard was broken, dirty breakfast items were were left out all day in the breakfast room and generally unkept and disorganised. The ironing board was covered in ants; the water in the iron contained dead floating ants and the ironing board was tatty. We couldn’t use the iron. The shower doors in the bathroom were broken and had a hole in the bottom; the shower head attachment was broken and had to be held by hand. This was not fixed despite telling the owner after the first night. Some of the towels smelt musty and damp. Pool furniture was tatty; metal sun loungers broken.
Family of four stayed for one night. Fantastic chateau, great breakfast and lovely staff! Everything was to our liking except that they were fully booked so we couldn’t stay longer. Ps try Le Pistou nearby as recommended, absolutely wonderful! Winery’s nearby was a great visit!
