Hotel O Encontro

The hotel is situated in a small village. It was a national holiday, but there was a restaurant inside the hotel where you can have lunch and dinner. Prices were rather low, simple food. Though it is better to double-check the prices. Continental breakfast was included in the price, with toasts, ham, fruits, etc. Overall, it was nice. There is a beautiful river view 10 minutes away by car, and a small waterfall - 30 minutes by car. It was warm in the room.

The room was not that comfortable, it is rather small and simple. Overall, the hotel is a bit dated but good for 1 night.

We liked the convenient location.

The air conditioning was little more than a noisy machine. It was unable to lower the temperature below 27C. When asking the front desk employee, his answer was that as long as it was lower than the outside temperature, it must be working!Breakfast was lacking.

It is not easy to eat lunch near this place

The property was convenient for us on our motorcycle trip. There was safe parking. The room was quite basic but clean and good value for money. The staff were fantastic.

It was quite noisy in the evening. We had hoped to use the pool as the weather was hot, but it wasn’t ready.

Like some previous rates, hot water remains an issue (an important one in December in this part of Portugal where cold is a strong presence); albeit efforts from staff to deal with the apparent good working water boiler, no hot water.

I must confess that we were very impressed with the quality of the hotel, the room, the pool area and above all with the warm and personalized service provided by Mr. Izidro and his family! Highly recommended from us!

We loved everything!

What a find. Just amazing value. Basic room with large modern bathroom. A terrace outside with a bar selling drinks at very reasonable prices. Evening meal (excellent quality) included wine. Very convenient for visiting the Miradour over the Duoro (5km) do not miss it ! Renovation works at the site did not spoil our enjoyment. A must for Sendim. Easy free parking a bonus.

Really pretty hotel with large modern rooms and a great restaurant and bar. Property is currently being further modernised so facilities will be even better

The restaurant at this hotel served excellent meals. I Had relaxing evenings in their lovely garden at back of property. Room was quiet and spacious with a modern bathroom & fresh towels.

bed could use a mattress topper to make it softer and more comfortable to sleep on. Near the end of my stay there was no hot water for a couple of days. Perhaps this was due to some electrical work going on in the reception area. The lack of hot water was immediately addressed after I mentioned it at the front desk.

Easy access, efficient staff, comfortable rooms and lovely food at reasonable prices

We were traveling from USA and Sweden, and struggling with our very few words of Portuguese that we knew. The staff was really great to us and helped us along. Dinner service was lovely. An English speaking staff member helped us with the menu and recommended some fantastic meals and a local wine. When we checked in, the man helping us heard we were going hiking and recommended a lot of wonderful hikes for us. It was a really great experience and exceeded our expectations- all thanks to the staff.

The staff is very helpful and nice. The hotel is in the middle of Sendim, next to a gas station and have plenty space for parking.The hotel has very good heating system, very important in winter.

Despite giving the room I have rented 2 weeks before my travel to someone else and being completely booked, the manager find us another hotel very quickly. The staff in the front desk also work in the coffee shop, so the reception is always empty. Not very helpful when you are touristing and do not know the area. Breakfast could be better, with fresh product from locals. Isolation is pretty bad, I woke up several times in the night with noise (shower, doors, etc).

terrible manner of the breakfast staff.... I sat at a table already set with utensils and a cup. apparently that was wrong and a staff member came rushing in and yelled at me in a very angry voice that I was not allowed to sit there as it was set for lunch. She spoke to me in a very condescending tone, as if I was 5 years old. This put me off and I will not come back....

Friendly staff, included a verry good diner with local specialties , verry good price for this offering.

The sound proofing was good, as loud music was played outside. for a wedding. The dinner, with local food was appreciated. Staff was very friendly and careful.

We didn’t like the breakfast.
