    Pros +

    • Our check-in was well coordinated, though we arrived late, with the owner's father letting us in and giving us all the details, including some history about the 1500s Dutch Independence fighter Great Pier. The honor-system communal mini-bar was so nice. The old build was a former village inn with the upstairs dance hall converted into guest rooms. The downstairs pub is now the breakfast room. Our prearranged breakfast was prepared the next morning by the owner and was delightful, with warm croissants, breads, cheese, deli meats, butter, yogurt, jam, and Dutch sprinkles. We took a short walk along the canal in the morning dewy-ness. Wonderful.
    • My husband and I were traveling around Friesland with our teen-aged granddaughter, and we had stayed at this Inn many years ago, so we went back. It has changed hands since then, and it is still charming. The new owner is friendly and helpful. It's just a short drive to Balsward, where we went for dinner, and an easy trip to Sneek the next morning. The breakfast was the best we had on our whole trip. Our rooms were clean and comfortable.
    • The location, the village, the small-scale set-up and personalized service. The terrace, the breakfast, the retro design of the rooms in combination with the beautiful parquet floors.

    Cons -

    • This was our first stay in the Netherlands and didn't realize they just use small towels after a shower. We adjusted though!
    • It did not bother us, but the stairway to the second floor, where the rooms are, is steep. The manager helped us get our bags up there, so it wasn't a problem for us. But others should be aware.
    • The price of the breakfast was a little high in relation to the price of the room. An additional bedside light and standing light would be a useful addition.

Owner / Manager was absolutely tremendous. So friendly , helpful and effervescent. Appeared to really enjoy her profession . Of all the great things about the hotel - she was the greatest thing .Hotel is small , definitely old but shows the influence of care and concern for quality . Our room was large and had multiple windows for light but only one could be opened and might be a problem when hot outside . There was a fan in the room for such an occasion . Lunch was available at the hotel until 5 the day we were there .

No definitive good bike storage but on the day that we were there the restaurant was not open for dinner and the owner was nice enough tolet us store our bikes in the restaurant .

The room was cute and very welcoming. I loved that we could prepare coffee and tea in the room. Matrassess and pillows were very comfortable. The room was warm and this is very appreaciative during Dutch rainy weather. Great curtains they blocked the outdoor light perfectly. The toilet and the shower were impecable. We got provided with enough towels.

That the bed was composed of two individual matrasses and individual duvets. This compromissed the comfort. If you have light sensitivity bring a blindfold, the small green light from the smoke detector was quite bright in comparisson with how dark the room was.

Lovely touches throughout hotel, fantastic breakfast, a perfect stop if you need to get the boat in the morning but we wished we stayed longer. We would gove it a ten but then then no one would believe us :) excellent!

Lovely, quaint little hotel in a small Dutch village. It felt more like staying with friends than staying in a hotel. The rooms were nicely decorated and the kitchen downstairs had a relaxed feel to it. Easy to make yourself at home.

The rooms were a little warm/stuffy overnight, even with the window open.

The hotel was cozy and the staff was really friendly. We travelled with a 3 year old kid and the staff prepared a kids themed small bed , and put in the room a few toys , what was really nice of them.
