Pros +
- Breakfast, dinner, convenient location. Friendly staff.
- Lovely room with a separate shower and toilet, quite spacious and a nice view over the courtyard. The restaurant is outstanding, some of the best food I have had, they have 2 set 3 course menus , one for €29 and one for €36 both are excellent.Location is right on the heart of Coulon, lots of restaurants, bars ice cream etc, boat hire is a 3 minute walk away. We took one out for 3 hours which was plenty of time to see the canals and wildlife. The hotel is very dog friendly with our dogs welcomed in both the restaurant and the breakfast room.Breakfast was excellent and good value.
- We arrived out of season en route to catching a ferry to the UK out of St Malo. We had three pets with us. The owners contacted us to let us know that the restaurant would be closed as it was a Monday that we were due to stay in the hotel and offered us a meal. We were on the road for over 7 hours and delighted to be informed about the closure and offered the meal. The reception was truly wonderful on arrival - friendly and informative and very welcoming. The meal was simply outstanding - 3 courses of gorumet exceptional deliciousness! We were given a quiet room much needed as our pets were travel weary and we were treated extremely kindly. What was not to like about this lovely establishment. Location wise the hotel is in the centre of the village and close to many other restaurants, quaint shops and a gorgeous patisserie - but it should be noted many were closed as it was not in season. We were able to take our dogs for a lovely long walk through the streets and along the river for a good while and we could see how it could be a popular destination in the warmer months - quaint and beautiful.
Cons -
- In the toilet there is no hand basin, this could easily be remedied by having a cistern with a built in hand washing facility on top.,a cheap and easy fix.
- There was nothing we didn't like! Great hotel, well run, excellent food and friendly service, well located in the town and as a stop over en route to or from St Malo of any where in France for that matter!
- We were in one one of the suites in the grounds, the bathroom was very dated and cold as the heater didn't work, these studios would be better for summer use. The owner said they are having them completely refurbed in March which will be a great improvement.

The main hotel was really lovely, and we had a good meal in the restaurant. Breakfast was more than adequate.

Great sized room especially as we ad a dog with us. Private parking close to room and grassy area for dog to enjoy. Staff very friendly and helpful!
Unfortunately we arrived on a Monday and the restaurant was closed, we will know to avoid Mondays in future.
Wonderful family room, very comfortable bed and children upstairs on the mezzanine floor worked well. Ground floor door to let dogs out. Good breakfast.
Pity restaurant closed on a Friday evening, but we did know in advance and the helpful staff booked us another close by.
We like the traditional ambience of this hotel in such an attractive village, situated in unusual countryside made up of a network of canals. A place which is geared up for tourists with some good shops and restaurants. We have stayed here frequently and as their excellent hotel restaurant was closed on Mondays the helpful receptionist recommended Le Gourmande ( best meal of our holiday!) Delightful conservatory for the good hotel breakfast! Ample free private parking.
Nothing to dislike!!
Very comfortable bedroom in a very quiet location in lovely Coulon. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was very good.
The hotel was located right in the centre of the little village. Private parking available for 6 euro per night. The hotel room was lovely and spacious with its own entrance. Very quiet location. Breakfast room was lovely.
The person on reception wasn’t very friendly.
The breakfast was very good. The staff were very professional and friendly.....all of them, cleaners to receptionist. The room was very pleasant and the dedicated outside seating area to the room was very nice for us and our two small dogs. The private parking was very welcome.
The beds were narrow and had a plastic covering on them under the sheet which was unpleasant. The people in the room next to us who also had an outside seating area to their room, were very vocal to us and to the staff of the hotel, complaining about the presence of dogs. They had not realised it was a pet friendly hotel when they booked and said they should have been made more aware of the hotels pet policy. The hotel offered them another room but instead of moving, they decided to moan loudly about our dogs and to and about another couple staying with a small dog. The hotel staff were most apologetic to us and tried all they could to resolve the situation, but the moaners were determined to make a fuss.
Lovely hotel. Friendly staff. Good facilities. Our fourth visit en route south. Great food too when restaurant is open.
Restaurant closed on Monday sadly. But we knew this when we booked. Found a good place round the corner.
This is a beautiful hotel. We had a large, spotlessly clean room. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was amazing. The hotel has secure parking. We will definitely come back!! We traveled with our two dogs who were welcomed into the hotel and the restaurant. Coulon itself is fantastic for dogs.
Nothing!! It was fabulous.
Cosy atmosphere, friendly staff, comfortable room and good food. Our third visit. This time we came in December and stayed in room 23 which is a garden annexe room. It was lovely and warm despite freezing temperatures outside. In summer the air conditioning was very welcome and effective.
Nothing to dislike
Good breakfast. Dinner was very well presented and pleasant, but slightly over-priced.
We had a one night stay as a stopover en route for the south of France. However we were fascinated by the Marais Poitevin, and the hotel is an excellent base to explore it, so we hope to be back. The room was spacious and comfortable with all necessary extras, and evening meal a real surprise with gourmet cooking but still really good value. Thoroughly recommended. We hope to come back to the area in the future for a longer stay and will book into this hotel if there is a space.
Nothing comes to mind
By mistake, the hotel had booked us in for the following day, but, after checking for other accommodation in Coulon, they put us up in a lovely room in their own nearby house. They couldn’t have done more to make up for their mistake. Full marks for concern for their guests. And a fabulous breakfast the next morning!
Nice location ground floor room
Room a bit quirky. No walk in shower, only a shower in a bath. Main room door difficult to close. Not able to register till 4.00pm
Our welcome was indifferent. Breakfast was passable but there was no one in attendance to notice when things needed replenishing. Facilities in the room weren’t good with one of the cups cracked & no teabags or milk & nowhere to plug a kettle in. The shower was over a high sided bath. The restaurant food was very pretentious & all the items on the plates did not gel together.
See above.
it’s position was excellent and so was the food
the lady who we assume was the manager was curt and inflexible in the morning as we needed breakfast a few mins early having discovered that our journey to Roscoff had traffic problems. it was a shame and rather spoiled an otherwise wonderful stay. The other staff were lovely.
Good central location in a lovely town. We were in a garden room which was modern and had a great big bed bath etc. Plus Garden seating.
Noise from other rooms was a bit of a problem.
