    Pros +

    • We loved this hotel and would definitely return
    • The setting of the Grand Cerf on the main square of the village is quite unique, as is the atmosphere of the historic buildings. The personnel (although new faces again) is very kind and capable. It is nice to have a restaurant downstairs. ?️ is abundant.
    • Lovely hotel in a beautiful forest village with excellent restaurant

    Cons -

    • We wanted to use the pool and steam room before our long journey home we were told that it was open at 10am . We went at 10am and everything was cold ! We did eventually had a steam but had to wait over an hour for it to be warm enough . I suggest if you want to go in the morning don’t go until 11.30am when everything is heated up! The staff were very friendly .
    • The Bistro offers a three course meal at 47,- (two courses for 42,-). The à la carte prices are relatively high. The food is OK, but rather uneventful. The wine list is limited and the information not enough to go by. The breakfast unfortunately did not live up to previous experience: no eggs to be had, no cappuccino (but coffee and hot milk from a thermos), and overal basic. At 20,- it is overcharged, certainly by French standards. It all gave the impression the place is not thriving.
    • The hotel is so beautiful but it is ruined by children, we feel it should be an adults only hotel to reflect the premium and style of hotel. Some money needs to be spent replacing/repairing the deck chairs by the pool as 3 were broken when we arrived.

Great pool, lovely comfortable rooms. Great value for money.

A beautiful old inn in the heart of a lovely village in the heart of Normandy. Beautiful rooms - really well designed and appointed. And a delicious dinner in the Bistro. Very tolerant of dogs

The car park is a bit of a distance from the hotel and the logistics for getting luggage from car parked in the sister hotel to the hotel were not clearly made. Though when the receptionist saw me struggling with my bags ( admittedly crazy number of them for one night’s stay), she did help. The sister hotel has trolleys - Grand Cerf should offer them too.

Lovely hotel that's got the most pretty view. Downside is that the hotel rooms (ours) faced onto the centre of the town. Delightful in the evening, noisy from early morning. But that's life!

A few facilities at the pool were broken. Many of the sun loungers, for example.

Everything. The location was stunning, the room was comfortable & quiet, the pool was wonderful on a very hot day. Staff were super helpful (even with our broken French) and we were helped with anything we needed. I don’t understand why this has such a low rating on booking.com because it is a wonderful stay for the price.

Just be warned (no fault of the hotel) that most of the restaurants in the area except for those attached to the hotel are closed on a Wednesday, and the hotel restaurants are Michelin rated/have a star so are pricey

The location is amazing, the premises are globally nice, view from the room is great.

It was far too hot in the room and no way to cool it down. The bathroom is very dark. The room furniture is too bulky versus the size of the room, almost no space to walk around. Staff is very welcoming, but they made us pay a lot more than booking.com mentioned for fees, which I don't appreciate (it's not the customer fault if the hotel doesn't update its fees online).

A very nice hotel in a surprisingly authentic village. The hotel was in two parts which made it a kind of adventurous. A beautiful architecture and in the middle of a lifely village. The spa was excellent

Fantastic location, beautifully considered property and room design, friendly and helpful staff. We had a delicious meal in the courtyard restaurant. Access to the pool if you want it (sadly we didn’t get time). Highly recommend staying here

Air con on a room fan would have been handy if the weather had been much hotter

    9RosemaryPosted on: 7-10-2024

Beautiful location in a charming village. Very clean and comfortable. Good breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff.

    All good!

    6JulianPosted on: 7-1-2024

Breakfast was 20euros extra so we declined

Food good but service was performed badly by untrained staff. This report from a hotelier of long standing

    10PaulPosted on: 6-18-2024

Location was excellent, staff very friendly Great food and wine

Shower took a while to drain

    9CarolinePosted on: 5-28-2024

Beautiful location in a picturesque Normandy village in the forest. Excellent breakfast. The restaurant is attached, offering excellent food but quite expensive.

No clear signs to direct to the hotel and parking. No wardrobe in the room to hang the outfits we had brought for attending a wedding.

    9AlisonPosted on: 5-25-2024

Loved the design of the rooms and the dining room. We looked over the square Loved the heated towel rack.

There wasn't much room in the toilet area. If it was summer, it may have been hot. No air conditioning.

    Beautiful quiet location

One of the restaurants was closed.Expensive and lacking atmosphere.A little rundown in areas.

    9JohnnyPosted on: 12-31-2023

The room was quiet and clean. Loved the hamman, sauna and massage at the Nuxe Spa. Food at the bistro was very good. Breakfast was splendid, fresh food every morning. Exceptional service from Julie and Simon. Will return.

The swimming pool was tiny and the water too cold for a December visit.

    8ArturPosted on: 9-14-2023

Clean room with good facilities. Nice dinner at the restaurant.

Room was a bit too hot.

    7JuliePosted on: 9-9-2023

It was a very tiny attic room which on an incredibly hot day was suffocatingly hot, we were kindly given a fan but it just circulated hot air ?? No kettle, teabags or milk so no facilities to make tea.

Bigger room & being able to make cup of tea or have coffee with milk.
