    Pros +

    • The hotel has a wonderful open and warm atmosphere. It felt alive and welcoming although we were the only guests. Fabulous service - the hotel staff were unable to contact us during our journey so the cook stayed until we arrived to see if we wanted supper. The castle has a fascinating history and is an inspiring cultural project. It was a shame we were travelling though and could only stay one night.
    • Overall, we liked the location on the Bode River and the facility itself. The castle is truly charming and has its own character. The surrounding garden is beautiful as well.
    • We liked everything. An amazing place to stay with a wonderfully nice staff who took care of us. If you want modern places, this place is not for you. Here can you get the atmosphere of an old palace? And the best cheesecake you have ever eaten?

    Cons -

    • The bed in our room was not comfortable at all. The mattress was really thin and you could easily feel the wooden frame underneath. The food at the restaurant, especially dinner, is quite expensive. For breakfast, there is not much choice. It is okay, but it could be better.
    • A little bit too warm at the room, but it was not inconvenient.
    • Cold welcome on arrival. Felt like a scam. We were traveling with our parents who are mid 80. We booked 2 months in advance for suite based on photo on here but gave us a ugly room when arrive. No official apology at the hotel , hotel keep blaming on booking for mistake . Hotel gave our suite to someone else . But we customers need to stuffer . No official apology and hotel even said they don’t communicate to booking. We felt like it was the customer‘a own fault to go on booking to book the suite and travel there , not the hotel? It was a scam . Stay away . Location was in small village with nothing around, therefore we had to stay in whatever room they forces us to stay in, especially when we travel with senior. There was no other option . The room even has broken mosquito window net . To make it even worse was the breakfast. Breakfast very poor , not even enough for everyone . We still paid for suite price at the end but we stayed in an ugly room. It was a scam. The hotel don’t care about customers only care about money.

The dinner was nice but maybe we were hungry after travel. The suite we originally booked are beautiful, but we booked suite and was forced to stay in “ugly room” at arrival. Felt like a scam.

A hidden gem, an old castle reborn as a cultural center, restaurant and hotel. In a peaceful spot on the top of a small hill, along a small river, surrounded by nature and a small village. The staff is super friendly, the restaurant is good too.tge rooms are really as you expect with wooden decorations and furniture, the dinner steps are donated with an ancient fresco.

Nothing much to do around but that is also the reason why I liked the place.

    6NancyPosted on: 5-6-2024

The location is really nice with nice walk around the castle. Breakfast was also very good.

For improvement: Curtains let in a lot of light starting (early May) at 05:30 in the morning, the dinner was far worse than a home cooked meal. Beds were ok, but noisy on each movement. Electric car charging is available 5 km away in the next village.

The castle is somehow a hidden spot and absolutely amazing. It is not reconstructed to the very last detail, but this is the source of its lovely character! The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Especially in nower days, it can't be taken for granted and therefore it has to be mentioned!

The bed could be a bit more comfortable and not so noisy.

This is one of the most beautiful places you’ll find without an ocean… Just a lovely place… Not especially modern, but who cares with such a warm, matter of fact welcome? Highly recommended

    No a thing

It was truly special to sleep one night in a real castle.. It's setting is beautiful and it's impressive to have dinner with a view onto the rose garden and breakfast in the huge old dining room. No un-necessary luxury, instead a great experience not to forget the very friendly staff.

Very interesting old castle. I came in at 22 pm and leave at 5 am, unfortunately I didn't have time to investigate more.

    Not comfortable bed.

Location, silence, the stuff, parking and breakfast were perfect.

A matrace - it was super soft and made my back hurt a lot.

A beautiful castle in a small village, a bit off. Charming with some beautiful official rooms. Our bedroom was adequate and had a nice view. If hot, no AC or fan. The dinner was ok, very nice to sit outside in the courtyard. Friendly and helpful staff. Good parking.

    Perhaps roller blinds or such?

    10KarelPosted on: 2-11-2022

Location and the personel was lovely. I was lucky enough to by only guest there.

In the future it would be great to have better bed matraces.

    9JuliaPosted on: 10-17-2021

I liked the rooms and the castle itself.

It was a little bit noisy - a dog next door was barking in the middle of the night

    10Alexa-birgitPosted on: 9-7-2021

Always wanted to stay in a castle. Romantic & wholly beautiful, friendly people & horses. A magical place. Thank you!

A softer mattress may have topped sleeping.
