Pros +
- The rooms were large and the bed was a little saggy but OK. The lady running the place was wonderful. The lounge was all original from 100’s of years ago, including the furniture. Everything in the hotel was a genuine antique. Breakfast was good and served in a wonderful atmosphere. It reminded everyone of the movie “Grand Budapest Hotel “
- Beautiful old-world elegance, surprisingly affordable. Restaurant serves excellent 3-4 course meals with wine for 45-55€/person.
- A fabulous old rather rambling hotel with lovely, themed rooms, perfectly clean. They had their own wine label, a great swimming pool. very good fixed dinner offer ( a couple of choices),great breakfast. We would stay again.
Cons -
- A little out of Carcassonne so hard to find at night but great parking on the property. We visited in winter so didn’t get to properly enjoy the grounds.
- We left two items of clothing in our cupboard when we checked out which unfortunately could not be located when we enquired the next day ( we also stayed that night).
- No elevator No mini bar in the room

Beautiful chateau with unforgettable dinner made of local ingredients and recipes. The domain even has its own wine!! A must in people’s peregrination in the South West of France. A few kilometers away from Carcassonne and many other historical sites including Cathares castles…
The location , the staff , the quality
No elevator No mini bar in the room
This is a hotel with a lot of character in a small village about 6km away from Carcassonne. The building is old and charming with a great lounge area, bar, restaurant, pool, small gym and sauna and billiard room.Staff were very helpful with good English and the room was charming. The restaurant was very good and very buzzy on the Friday night we were there. Free parking is available in the grounds.
It was so very charming, cranky and full of atmosphere.
Oh dear, it’s very tired. The chateau needs freshening up and to stoo cutting corners on the bake-up baguette and machine coffee with powdered milk, and the ghastly cooking at suppertine. It’s such a lovely place and nice people that I could excuse it, but at the end of the day there!s much room for improvement.
We loved this property. Shabby chic at its best and full of old world charm. The bedroom was huge and very comfortable. The restaurant is superb and great value for money. Breakfast was also very good. Staff also excellent and very helpful.
Nothing we loved it.
Setting with lots of space, storage for our bikes and in a small village. Classic chateau style with interesting features but showing it’s period age.
The meal we had in the restaurant was average so we only ate there the one night.
Great value stay. Would highly recommend the restaurant. Staff were excellent. Very large rooms. Great stay.
I’m sure this was once a magnificent property a little worn now.staff were really friendly and the breakfast is good.
No coffee tea making facilities and no food available Sunday evening.
We chose the chateau as we wanted to try somewhere a bit posher than the budget places that we usually stay. The hotel lived up to expectations, atmospheric, interesting furniture, lovely drapes and bedding . Nice sheets, comfy bed. We slept well.It was more expensive than we usually pay, but it was a treat.
Our bath was grubby, initially when filled it the water was an unattractive brown. I let the water out, used the bath mat to clean the bath and then enjoyed a soak in hot water. The restaurant was expensive so we went into Carcassonne for a meal. We thought 14.5 euros too expensive for a light breakfast.
The room was so charming and comfortable....temperature control throughout the hotel was perfect even though the outside temperature fluctuated 12degC to 22degC. Breakfast was delightful...staff so attentive and helpful... egg boiling bath was first I've seen in a hotel...eggs fresh and delicious. We kept the restaurant for our last two nights.....the experience was superb...,a converted cow shed it is so warm and inviting.....chefs are experienced and skilled. Carcassonne is a short distance and parking free and paying is readily available.
Nothing !! but I do appreciate the effort it takes to keep this historic Chateau to this high standard. You have to admire how out houses have been repurposed and incorporated into the main building.
Great location and friendly staff .
If honest a little tired . Booking has as a four star in fact it’s definitely a three star. However it was fine and good breakfast
Unbelievable hotel, fantastic staff, and the restaurant was the highlight
Only one small issue, the pillows could be better
Beautiful Chateau with an exceptional restaurant. Gorgeous village location, with many traditional features and character. The swimming pool is stunning and very in keeping with the natural, beauty of the landscape and Chateau. The staff were very obliging and looked after us throughout our two day stay. They also were very tolerant of our very little knowledge of French which was very much appreciated. Hopefully, when we return, we will have improved.Perfect location to visit many surrounding places/ vineyards. We will most definitely will visit again.
The taxis were unreliable and not easy to locate on arrival at the train station. Would advise hiring a car to make travelling around the area easier. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room are usually provided with other similar hotels we have stayed at. Maybe something the hotel could provide for guests?
The staff were exceptional nothing was too much trouble and they all had the same friendly but extremely curteous attitude. The hotel is a treasure whuch is maintained extremely well. Breakfast was superb. Bed very comfortable
Nothing comes to mind it was a very positive experience
Lovely friendly staff, and beautiful chateau in a lovely location with great parking
We were disappointed that the restaurant was closed after having asked to book and being told we could, but as it was a Sunday the restaurant had closed early which would have been good to know. It was a lovely room but the bed was uncomfortable and the hair dryer was dangerously faulty
The history, ambiance, location, spaciousness, the friendly and very helpful staff.
There could have been some water available in the bedroom for each day during our stay. WiFi access was poor in the bedroom.
The general ambience of faded glory. The swimming pool Restaurant Tranquility Wonderful lady receptionist
No tea/coffee maker in the room, not even a bottle of water Cheapest toilet paper Breakfast-temperamental coffee machine, no breakfast tea, fruit bowl needs changing before the fruit goes off.
