    Pros +

    • Idyllic location, charming decor, lovely food (and not just the breakfast, but also the dinners!), and an extremely helpful owner and staff who were so attentive and helpful to us throughout the stay. Staying here is a bit like stepping back in time to an age in which genuine relations between guests and hosts could actually exist. We look forward to returning!
    • Since it was the low season, we were the only guests at the hotel, which made the warm hospitality even more special. The facilities and food were great, we had Macaronis Gruyeriens for dinner, and it was truly satisfying. We also loved the breathtaking view of the snow-covered mountains right from our balcony room.
    • The stay was incredible, everyone was very friendly and made us feel right at home. Beds were comfortable and the view is amazing. It is a truly great experience being in a hotel with such history and so close to the mountains. Our pet was also well received and the food was amazing.

    Cons -

    • The floorboards creek, but that is to be expected in a historic place and we heard no complains from guests below us.
    • Had to drive to ski areas as ski bus doesn't pass the hotel, no shuttle.
    • The floors were very creaky, but it is an historic hotel, so the old floors are to be expected.

Fabulous location, panoramic views, walkable to town, beautiful walks behind the hotel as well. Really lovely welcoming and friendly hotel.

Had to drive to ski areas as ski bus doesn't pass the hotel, no shuttle.

Lovely hotel. The evening meals were delicious.

The floors were very creaky, but it is an historic hotel, so the old floors are to be expected.

The Hotel du Pillon is the perfect get away! It’s a historic hotel located in a quiet area not far from the town, with an amazing staff. It was such a delight to stay here. It’s dog friendly, cozy, and simply lovely. Great restaurant and the owner personally looks after the guests. Quite a treasure!

I loved everything about the property - and be sure to spend extra time on their extraordinary terrace!

A small hotel with a warm personal touch to it all; lots of attention by the owner and staff

We enjoyed the owner's attention and conversation. He is very personable and full of knowledge about the area. The large lounging room to the right of the stairs is very comfortable and the whole place is full of antiques to hold your attention.

The entry driveway was a bit scary to turn onto but we managed.

This hotel is a real gem of Diablerets! Many thanks to Francis for his unrivaled hospitality, thanks to which we felt at home. We were given a tour of the whole hotel, shown around and even given the choice of a room (wow!), it was really great! Very clean and comfortable room with a stunning view from the balcony (see the photos attached, 0 filters! :) ). The hotel has a kitchen where we could make ourselves tea or heat up food at any time. Amazing breakfasts, plenty of choice, everything is great! Francis, once again a big thank you!

We enjoyed staying at a hotel that doesn’t fit the cookie-cutter mould of hotel chains and that is run by people from the area. We enjoyed our cozy room including the beautiful views from the balcony. The hotel is beautifully maintained and has a down-to-earth charm. The breakfast includes a wide selection of cereal, breads, yoghurt, homemade jam, eggs boiled exactly to your satisfaction, and delicious cheese. We did not have dinner at the restaurant but the menu looked yummy!

Beautiful historic hotel, friendly owner. Very clean and quiet. Off the beaten path, must be willing to walk at least 1.5 km to the little village for other food/entertainment.

Great location, admirable historic hotel run by a wonderful and courageous family. Wandering around on soft slopes is a must, no great distance to reconnect with nature...

We had an unforgettable vacation! This historic hotel impressed with its wonderful and cozy interior and the warm welcome and sincere care of the hosts. It is radically different from the usual hotels that you forget after a week. I think we will not forget Du Pillon and his exceptional spirit for the rest of our lives!

The owners of this place really make it shine, both friendly and personable. It kind of felt like showing up at your aunts house in the country. The hotel is a beautiful historic hotel in the heart of the Les Diablerets region.

This is one of the best accommodation experiences we have stayed ever, even though we have many to choose from. The renovated historic hotel feels also like a swiss home nestled in the mountains. An old fashioned appeal but with all the necessary modern amenities and facilities.Everything was perfect: the view of the mountains (what a wonderful view towards Les Diablerets from the balconies!), the breakfast was amazing, the quite heavenly location  above the village in short distance surrounded by mountains is perfect, the room was clean and spacious. But the best experience was the owner, Mr. Francis, together with his wife: welcoming, friendly and helpful. Thank you for everything, we can’t wait to come back as soon as possible

    9AnushaPosted on: 6-26-2024

This is one of the best properties we have stayed in. Francis, the owner and manager personally attended to everyone of our needs. Even though it's a hotel, it feels like your home in the mountains with all the amenities of a modern hotel. If staying in this area, would highly recommend for the personalized care, gorgeous mountain views and serene local setting

Beautiful location. Magnificent rustic hotel. Outstanding staff and owner

    10H.Posted on: 5-22-2024

Everything worked sufficiently as planned and expected. Though named a "hotel" it was more like guests hosted in a holiday home. The Swiss charm envelopes the property, very comfortable for what it is. Thank you to the property owners, much appreciate your efforts in keeping it up in its current form, considering its long history.

The only aspect is the creaking floor boards - more from the perspective it could annoy fellow guests, in rooms below than impacting us ourselves.
